Chapter 65
Chapter 65: Water of Life, Extending Life by 30 Years
One billion per catty!
This was definitely the most expensive, most outrageous Direbeast that Ling Jiu had ever seen before . Even those Class 7 or Class 8 Direbeasts could not compare to this . It was that outrageous!
However, when Ling Jiu looked up the information on the Water of Life, he suddenly felt the reason why the Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders were so expensive was not without reason .
The Water of Life: Advanced genetic medicine . Can activate telomerase at the end of the cell chromosomes, greatly increasing the number of chromosome replication, and increasing the number of cell divisions, slowing down cell aging and ultimately extending a person’s life .
“A vial of Water of Life can extend one’s lifespan by 30 years . That’s just incredible!”
Ling Jiu was shocked .
Although he knew that many technologies of this world had far surpassed the one in his previous life, he did not expect that a life-prolonging drug had actually been developed .
Water of Life?
Activating the Telemorase?
Increasing the number of chromosome duplications?
Ultimately, extending one’s life?
Why did this sound more like fantasy?
However, the information given by the microcomputer made it plain that the Water of Life can indeed extend someone’s life, and by a whole 30 years!
Thirty years!
How many “30 years” could a person have?
Most would only have two!
A few would have three!
It was very little indeed!
So, who would not want to increase their lifespan by another 30 years?
Thinking about it that way, suddenly the 1 . 5 billion per catty price did not seem all that expensive .
“Mine! All mine!”
Ling Jiu was excited beyond words . Seeing the Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders, his eyes transformed into dollar signs . They were no longer just evil, bloodsucking vampires, but instead a series of zeroes in his account balance .
“Gotta…
“Gotta catch’em all!”
Ling Jiu immediately checked the method of capturing a Bloodfeast Souleater Spider and found that capturing them was not as easy as he had imagined .

The Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders were very dangerous, and once the spider had infested in one’s body unless it was removed by surgery in time, only death awaits…
However, this was not too difficult for Ling Jiu . He took out 50 square meters of osmium soil and wrapped all of the Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders on the Ten-legged White Ape Spider into a large, airtight ball .
Then, he took out a special Dimensional Bag and put the osmium ball into it .
“I believe the next time I take it out, all of the Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders should have been smothered to death . By then I can just sell them straight, hehe . Another jackpot!”
Ling Jiu licked his lips and his snot was even coming out of his nose . This sort of wanton money-grubbing and that feeling of picking up tens of billions at a time was just too much fun .
“The prince of an Ultimate Gene Arcana technique is worth 1,000 contribution points . Once I sell this batch of Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders off, I should have about enough?”
Ling Jiu pondered silently, and he was full of expectations for the future . He then checked around, and once he confirmed he had not left anything behind, he began to collect the spider silk .
The spider silk in this area was probably made by the Class 5 Ten-legged White Ape Spider, and the price alone was higher than the other spider silks, so he could not let them go .
Half an hour later, once he was done collecting the spider silk did Ling Jiu contact Chen Feng and the rest for them to continue collecting the spider silks inside the mulberry forest .
The sun was now to the west, and it was evening . All of the spider silks in the mulberry forest were collected, and the whole team was exhausted enough to camp directly inside the mulberry forest .
“Hahaha!! One million per catty! I’ll probably be awake tonight just by smiling!”
“Ol’ Chen, how much spider silk have you collected?”
“Not much, not much . A few hundred catties at most!”
“About the same as us then!”
“That is to say, we had made at least 1 billion this afternoon alone?”

“One billion? That’s insane!”
“Hahaha, this is all thanks to Captain Ling . If it weren’t for him, how could we make so much money? Come, come, everyone toast Captain Ling!”
Although they were physically exhausted, everyone was very happy . Although they had only been out for two days, they had earned more than a usual year .
The difference was just on a whole different level!
Ling Jiu also smiled happily . Although his team members had made a fortune, he had made an even bigger one .
Three thousand Greatmaw Ants carcasses…
A thousand Greatmaw Ant eggs…
An Ironclad Ox-dragon Serpent worth 30 billion, and that Bloodfeast Souleater Spiders he had just harvested today . All of them were by his own efforts .
So, he took them all for himself!
In addition, as for the countless Class 2, Class 3, Class 4, and Class 5 Direbeasts carcasses that he had hunted with the rest, as he was the main attacker, he naturally would take a bigger share!
It could be said that he was the one who earned the most!
“Rest well tonight guys, we’ll try to kill all of the Direbeasts in Meizi Town in two days’ time, and then head to the next Class 5 Direbeast pack!”
Ling Jiu smiled and said, “Once we have cleared the Direbeast packs there, we can leave here in advance, and then return to the company to turn our haul into cash!”
“As you say, Captain Ling!”
The next morning, everyone got up at six in the morning and had a quick breakfast before setting off . Today’s mission was going to be arduous, so they had to work harder .
“Kill them all!”
The slaughter unfolded again .
Two days later, all of the Direbeasts in Meizi Town were slaughtered .
“Call Commander Xu!”
“Yes, Captain Ling!”
An hour later, the maglev airship appeared over Meizi Town . Ling Jiu led his team onto the airship and found that there were many people in the airship, and among them were the Vulcan Team led by Yang Gan .
“You!”
Yang Gan suddenly stood up, his eyes blood-red as he stared at Ling Jiu furiously .
If his gaze could kill, he would have ripped Ling Jiu into pieces, and then take the egg back . That was an Ironclad Ox-dragon Serpent Egg worth 30 billion!”
Although the other members of the Vulcan team were not as angry as Yang Gan, all of them wore grim experiences as they clenched their fists and glared at Ling Jiu .
“What’s going on?”
Chen Feng and others were stunned .
“So it’s you lot!”
Ling Jiu glanced at them before finding a seat and sat down, completely ignoring the angry Yang Gan and the rest . and that made him even more furious .
“Boy, just you wait . I won’t let you just take it away like that . Sooner or later, I’ll make you spit that out with interest! This I promise you!”
“Be my guest at any time!”
Ling Jiu snorted and ignored him . He instead turned to Xu Yuanhui . “Commander Xu, we’ve cleared out the Direbeasts in Meizi Town . Take us to Heihuya Mountain . ”
“Already done?”
Xu Yuanhui was stunned, and he immediately got someone to check . A moment later, he got news that there were no more Direbeasts in Meizi Town .
“Captain Ling, Pangu’s hunting efficiency sure is amazing!”
Xu Yuanhui gave a thumbs up . “There were so many Direbeasts in Meizi Town, with three Class 5 Direbeasts, but they were all killed by you . Amazing!”
“It’s all thanks to all of my comrades!”
Ling Jiu smiled slightly . “Can we head over to Heihuya Mountain now?”
“Sure, sure!”
Xu Yuanhui nodded repeatedly before ordering the maglev airship to change course and head directly for Heihuya Mountain . He was completely convinced now .
“Commander Xu, once we are done clearing Heihuya’s Direbeasts, we can leave in advance right?” Ling Jiuman asked casually .
“Of course!”
Xu Yuanhui was dumbfounded for a moment before laughing . “The other 17 Direbeast packs had already been mostly cleaned up, leaving only Heihuya Mountain as the toughest nut to crack . Captain Ling, if you and your team can take Heihuya Mountain, you can leave the clean-up job to us!”
“That’s good then!”
Ling Jiu nodded slightly, before closing his eyes to rest .
“Boy, just you wait . I’ll make you pay for this later!”

Ebony Chitin - Adventures of The Hive
Ebony Chitin - Adventures of The Hive is a story centered around a Hive mind bug elf, and her favorite human-dwarf mutt Richard. The story will shift perspectives between the two, as well as other members of the Hive. Follow along on their adventures for; the friends they make, the enemies they slay, and the questions they seek to answer. Thank you for reading, as always. ^.^ Afterword: Hello there everyone, and welcome back those that have already read the first story. If you are new, don't worry too much about the first step of the series. Truly, this second part aims to cover most of what was done there. Those that have read it will know a few secrets and plot points before we see them. Though it shouldn't detract from your reading of this one. Honestly, the first one was a bit rough, but do as you will. I will warn that this will tackle some serious topics and might end up getting rather explicit in terms of what is done or seen by the characters. There is a bit to cover, so I'll explain what I can between chapters without overloading anyone, hopefully. -Cover Art drawn by Cozie [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Crisis on Planet 9
Welcome to the dream colony Planet 9, where the streets are stained by blood and the buildings are filled with human remains. The creatures roaming among the abandoned cars and flying vehicles resemble almost to perfection the mindless cannibalistic zombies born from the fictional nightmares of mankind. The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive. For now, his only goal is to become strong enough and rejoin his students and fellow colleagues, foolishly hoping to somehow be able to get back to the time when the undead did not rule the streets. Will Kardian be able to survive in this new savage world or will his naive outlook lead him to a dead end? Volume 1 can be bought on Amazon: Resonance High

Second Wind, legend of Pandemonium (Finished/Incomplete)
The developers of the worlds leading VRMMORPG Edge Online have decided to shut down its servers after over a decade. Shugireth Darkstar, the leader of Pandemonium, Edge Online's top guild, suffers from a deadly disease and his end is near. He hasn't left his VR pod for 5 years, as the medical nanodroids at the hospital takes care of him. Without Edge, he will die, because his physical body has already been all but destroyed by the sickness. Seeing no light at the end of the tunnel, Shugireth Darkstar, the Master of Pandemonium, stubbornly stays behind as the servers shut down... If that was all, we could end this story right here. However, that was only the beginning of the legend of pandemonium. The prelude to the movement, if you will. Shall we see what happens next? -------------- Some notes from Me (The author, gasp surprise): I first wrote this (100k) as an experiment. I saw the advice about having foils for overpowered MCs, and I watched quite a few lectures on writing. I wanted to test things out for myself and see if I could carry a story through other ways than only relying on physical conflict like some thrillers do. Thus this might lean a bit towards slice of life with a romance subplot, but I don't want to give my story away so read it if u want to know more. This was basically never intended for anyone else's eyes but my own, and written to explore writing as a process. This wasn't my attempt at writing a good book, but it turned into something that I think might interest some people, so I decided to pop it up here. It is slightly old so my style and writing skills have advanced considerably since I first started this thing. Having said that, I think it's pretty readable, but I am very interested in how other people will receive this. Please feel free to criticize it and just in general shoot me some feedback on what you think. It contains light Litrpg elements, not heavy table spam, it's just the basis of the world. Although I like that sort of thing, this was written before I even knew of Royalroad and hadn't considered litrpg much. Some of you may recognize that it was slightly inspired by Overlord. Also, the Tags for sexual content and traumatizing content are there as a precaution on all of my stories pretty much, even if my story does not contain any of that at the moment. I can't really know what the future will bring, but in the case of this story I do know a little bit, since I wrote 100k words before posting it here. And I just posted it on a whim because I figured some readers on Royalroad might enjoy this story.

Aeternalis
One born of nothingness. A world born of everything. To return all to nothing. Or surrender to everything. A man born into an infinite world, trying to find his path to the top. Trials and tribulations come from friends and foes alike until all bow before him. ------------------------------------- Author here! This is my 3rd story on RoyalRoad, the other two having long since been dropped years ago. They were a mess of ideas and had no real substanence to them, leading me to begin hating writing them and eventually just stop writing altogether for about a year and a half. Finally, after reading hundreds of thousands of pages of novels, from low fantasy to sci-fi litrpg's to thousands of pages long xianxias, I finally feel ready to write a real story that isn't a cesspool of ideas blended together. I plan to see this out to the end, as I already have the first few major arcs planned out unlike my other stories where I thought of ideas as I wrote. This story takes place in a world with a litrpg system, as per tags. This isn't a VRMMO or Reincarnation story. The main character exists in and is from said world. There are some differences from other litrpg's which will be explained in author notes in the few few chapters. I plan to publich 6-7 chapters a week, each 2-3k words long. If i fail to do so I will create a back-log I have to eventually make up but as of writing this it's the summer for me so I'll have plenty of time to write. Enjoy, and welcome to the world of Aeternalis.
