Chapter 39: The Storm Begins (4)
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
The Zhao family’s mansion was filled with sadness and misery. Each of them had their own agenda. The Mu family barely fared better.
After the discussion with Zhao Youlin about their divorce, President Mu who had been treating his work as part of his life had been absent-minded since returning to Mu Feng Group.
When Xia Zhetao handed over documents to him, he was lost in thought. After that, when Xia Zhetao served him tea, he had been absent-minded. When Xia Zhetao raised his head from the document, he was still addled. When Xia Zhetao lowered his head to pack his things, he was still absorbed in his thoughts.
As the president’s chief assistant, Xia Zhetao keenly sensed that… something was strange. Indeed, something was strange with President Mu on this day.
In this world, everyone had a busybody characteristic dwelled within their own hearts, including both women and men.
Right then, Xia Zhetao’s busybody self had been stirred up, just like a rebellious young beast that had started to become restless. It reached out its tiny claws to scratch his heart at intervals.
Xia Zhetao was in a dilemma whether he should risk opening his mouth to intrude just to satisfy his curiosity, or whether he should just hold it back and pretend to know nothing. Just then, Mu Tingfeng rose up abruptly behind his office desk, shocking him.
“P-President…”
Xia Zhetao was guilty-conscious. Just as he was about to open his mouth to speak, Mu Tingfeng’s jerkily raised his head to stare at him. Xia Zhetao stiffened in fear.
“I’m going back now. You’ll handle the rest.” He kept his words succinct. Mu Tingfeng did not give Xia Zhetao any chance to respond and left.
By the time Xia Zhetao returned his senses from the daze, no one was in the office.

“Going back? Where are you going? Aren’t you always away from home? Unless you’re going back to the place where your mistress is? Is this the reason why you lost your composure today just because of the beautiful mistress in your house?
“Wait. That’s not the main point. Most importantly, you haven’t completed most of your tasks. Are you even a true man for dumping your job halfway through and running away? President, you’ve got to come back soon!”
Mu Tingfeng was already on his way home and obviously could not hear the chief assistant’s laments. The confrontation with Zhao Youlin early in the morning had already grabbed all his attention. As such, his mind was already filled with Zhao Youlin’s various performances the moment he stepped out of the cafe, resulting in him not being able to focus on his work.
He had been deep in thought. After spending the entire afternoon daydreaming and being idle, President Mu decided to go back home to take a look. He wanted to check out that woman who had become so much bolder to the point of scheming him in public and backlashing him.

Unfortunately, Mu Tingfeng had never ever thought that Zhao Youlin had long departed with the child when he returned to the Mu family.
“Young Master, you’re home.” The old butler’s eyes sparkled when he saw Mu Tingfeng return home. He hurriedly dashed forward to welcome him.
This was Mu Tingfeng’s first time coming back home after nearly a week. The last time he came back was that time when he had quarreled with Zhao Youlin over the mistress he had outside of the family. After that, he left the house. Soon after, his so-called wife slit her wrist. He knew about it but he thought that it was just another gimmick of hers to guilt-trip them. Therefore, he did not bother to entertain it.

The old butler’s gaze turned complicated when he saw Mu Tingfeng return home. ‘Young Master Mu comes back just because Madam has left. Indeed, between him and the young master from the third generation, only one of them can stay in the Mu family. Sigh…’
The old butler sighed to himself. Suddenly, Mu Tingfeng asked him, “Where’s the Madam?”
The old butler was stunned. This was Mu Tingfeng’s first time asking the madam’s whereabouts. It was a pity for him to have asked under such circumstances.
“Madam has already taken the young master away from the Mu family as soon as she came back home in the morning.”
Mu Tingfeng was startled when he heard the old butler’s words. But he quickly recovered and nodded his head. He frowned as he inevitably shot his glance at the empty hall on the second floor. ‘Why did she leave in such a hurry? Is she trying to play hard to get? Or is it…’

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Earth is bought and fused with two other alien planets, but before the new overlords take total control, the System gives the original inhabitants one last chance to reclaim their fates. Stuck on an unfamiliar world in the midst of sentient creatures and savage monsters, humanity will struggle to survive until they learn to adapt to their harsh, new reality. However, Silas could ask for little more as the calamity provides him with the opportunity to turn his wreck of a life around and finally face the mess he once ran away from. Little does he know of the terrible foes he will face on the way, the grand powers he will gain, and the legions he will command. Author’s note: System-regulated Apocalypse story following a powerful (but not overpowered) MC and the village that he helps set up. While it is graphic, it isn't overly dark. Now complete!
8 361Era Of The Kobold
Era of the Kobold Returning July Third! Hi there! Thought I forgot about this series, didn't you? In all seriousness, I am sorry for not posting in such a long time. I've been really busy with other things, mainly my education. However, once July hits and I get the time needed to write, I'll be continuing EotK where we left off. Despite his expectations, he finds himself reincarnated in a new world as a Kobold. He must now live a hard life as a weak creature that tends to die young and is seen as a monster. How will he manage in this new life and what will he do with it? The rate of publishing will slow down, as I focus on my education.
