The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 215

"Go and tell him that I will be coming for his head.", Jay said this directly as if he had no intention of granting him mercy.
The same applied to those who allied with him. He had already thought about leaving the rest to the generals and Alon who could do a pretty good job in stopping them for sure.
All that Jay had to do was prevent himself from getting killed and even if he got killed, he should prevent from panicking after being revived on his own.
'Yes, it's a showdown between us…', he said to himself in his mind.
Right after that, he marched out as if he literally meant what he thought.
He dictated whatever was on his mind to Alon who wrote it down in a letter and used his familiar – a two-headed crow – to go and give it to Arcane.
Of course, it would be rather safer for familiars to go and deliver such stuff rather than actually letting demons go who could end up showing tons of emotions and would get killed.
Yes, that was why Alon sent the crow instead of going there himself because he was legitimately scared too – it was understandable because going without Jay, whom he considered as a way to survive, he would end up getting chopped off.
Since Jay had already told everyone that he was going to personally take care of Arcane, they couldn't possibly reject this.
Alon sent his familiar and the remain demon generals went to spread the news.
They had the thought that Jay would win at the end due to which they wanted as many spectators as possible.
That way no one would ever doubt Jay again and would surrender just by hearing his name.
Also, the ones who still harbored doubts after joining could witness for themselves the true extent of the Dark Overlord's power.
When the demon generals thought that this was a plus point, Jay didn't want this to happen.
Who knows he could use underhanded tactics because anyone could do anything to survive.
Jay did not want others to see him doing all those kinds of stuff so he had to announce that there was no need to announce this outside.

Unfortunately, he was late. Almost the entire demon realm or the Nether realm knew about the battle that was soon going to take place.
Well, Jay had a doubt since earlier, 'Why didn't Acron and Arcane fight?'
'How did Arcane let Acron become the demon king?' – that was a big question indeed.
The answer was simple indeed, but Jay had no way of knowing that, not unless Alon explained him.
"Alon, why did Acron and Arcane never have a fight against each other?", Jay asked.
Alon answered to that without wasting any time, "Master…"
"Arcane and Acron are sworn brothers…"
The moment he told this, everything became clear to Jay.
That was the main reason because of which Acron became the demon king while Arcane did whatever he wanted under Acron.
Of course, there was no reason for them to fight because Arcane had no reason to rule over the entire Nether Realm.
All he wanted was to drink booze and waste time in his own palace and nothing else.
Oh yes, there was one more thing that he wanted to do – flexing and spreading the fact that he was the Dark Overlord himself.
Countless people believed that and went under him but the true cunning ones or the sharp ones knew that all he did was acting and nothing else.
To be precise, he thought that he was the Dark Overlord when in reality he was someone else entirely.
Even though he realized that he refused to believe that.
Whatever now he was going to have a battle with Jay so he had to better prepare himself.
Of course, at the same time, he thought that he was almighty so no preparations were necessary.
Both of them took an entire day to prepare, Jay thought that letting one day preparing was not a waste of time and instead could be told as a way to win the battle.
He planned many things the entire day, the place where the battle was going to take was already decided by Arcane and he sent the place to Jay.
Obviously, Jay didn't reject because he wanted to finish the matter as soon as possible.

The place was exactly between the two divisions that were created earlier.
After the preparations for a day, Jay and Arcane, both arrived at the place.
They came by wagon, of course, it was as if some grand fair was going to happen.
Many people had come to see, while others used a crystal ball to look at the match – after all this was going to solve the identity crisis of the Dark Overlord.
The generals stood behind Jay while Arcane had his fair share of demons behind him.
It was not exactly an arena or something, it was barren land.
The place was surrounded by boiling lava which was hot enough to melt many with just a touch, only the foolish would do such a mistake.
Arcane chose that place thinking that he could just push Jay into the lava and win if anything dangerous were to happen.
But little did he know that Jay had already bathed in lava a few times. Yes, his skill Blaze Sucker was no joke.
It could turn all the heat around into his strength as long as the heat is more than his own body.
Of course, one thing wasn't to be underestimated – the fire and lava of the Nether Realm were at least five times hotter than that which could be seen on Earth.
Whatever it may be, Jay wasn't afraid of it. His fire resistance had already increased anyway so he had nothing to worry about.
Drum sounds were being heard as the high lords from different clans came there to see how the fight would proceed specifically.
Jay and Arcane hadn't met each other yet, they were far away from each other.
It was a barren land after all so there was no boundary that would mark victory or anything.
Nevertheless, Arcane walked towards Jay and he too thought that it was best to walk towards him
Since confrontation was inevitable, he thought that it was in his best interests to meet him.
Both of them, after walking for a few seconds, ended up in front of each other.
Of course, Jay's height was less when compared to the demon Arcane.
He was 1.5 times taller than Jay after all which was no surprise.
Jay expected such abnormality anyway.
"So you are that fake…", was what Arcane said with anger.
His blood vessels were clearly visible because of his blood actually boiling!
Of course, Jay had nothing to say anyway. Because he knew that he was the real Dark Overlord, after all the system had been saying the same to him all this time.
"Let me give you a piece of advice…"
"It is wise not to approach fire…", was what Arcane said.
It was as if he was hinting that he would push Jay into the flames that were rising from the sides of the area.
Some of the rocks were on fire nearby and probably that was what he was talking about.
"Let me give you an advice…"
"Never give advice to your superior.", Jay said with a fierce glare.
'Pfftt', Reniea burst into laughter by mistake when she heard this.
Of course, they had come there with Jay in order to prevent Arcane from doing whatever he wished even before the battle actually started.
Whatever, Arcane became angrier and returned without saying even a single word after that.
'Hmm, there is one thing I'm sure about…'
'He would definitely play dirty.', Jay concluded after hearing his so-called advice which he gave a second ago.
'Sigh, he thinks that the flames of the nether realm would be enough to kill me…'
Jay smirked when he thought about that.
Even if he was killed once, he would revive easily. Of course, the flame wouldn't hurt him even if he were to be thrown into the lava or whatever.
So he had absolutely nothing to worry about, nothing to worry about other than one thing which popped up as a warning by the system.
'Ding'
[ You have met the Apostle Of The Blood Overlord ]
[ The match of your destiny would begin if you were to fight him ]
[ Destiny Points will be collected once the battle starts ]
"…"
To be continued…

Recruit - An Infinite Labyrinth prequel
A prequel to The Infinite Labyrinth. The year is 1816. The British Empire is in full swing, under the auspices of King George III. The Infinite Labyrinth has been pouring out its product from beyond our reality and fostered a new industrial revolution. Times are changing, and the people of London are feeling the winds of the revolution while British Professionals push into the Labyrinth. The newly formed Artefact Hunting Company is looking for recruits, and they have new technology to help them. From the slums of London, they aim to recruit a new wave of Professionals. And make Zacharias and the Earl of Carnavon lots of money. So, for Rowan Rivers and a handful of lucky ones, it's time to head into the Labyrinth, and discover what makes it different from England. And what makes THEM different? Recruit is a bunch of chapters I wrote to create to the setting, mood, and game systems of the Infinite Labyrinth. It is NOT a complete story in the classic sense. It's more of a slice of life view of early days of a normal Professional from the Infinite Labyrinth, and it's heavy on info-dump. It's 90% canon - there's probably a bit of a difference between how some characters and common behaviour are portrayed here and how they'll come out in the main story. Set two years before the events that kick-start the main series, it features some of the secondary/peripheral characters of the Infinite Labyrinth and will tell you all about the basic mechanics of the Labyrinth's RPG system. It can be considered a spoiler, as the characters in the Infinite Labyrinth are going to need to figure out all that, on their own. But if you like a much deeper exposition in the mechanics, here it is. The entire prequel is about 80 pages long.
