The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 187

After hearing Jake's questions, Jay thought for a bit about it.
It did seem a bit interesting, although he knew what shadows were, he wanted to think a bit more, perhaps he was aiming to surpass the knowledge that he had gained in science class.
"Shadows are the dark region formed when an object blocks sunlight or any light...", was what he said.
"Of course, the form only in the presence of light..."
"Also, it is formed by opaque and translucent objects."
"Transparent objects do not form shadows...", was what he said.
According to Jay, transparent things such as air didn't form shadows which were indeed true!
Whatever he said was correct but those were something that he read and learned from the textbooks. He basically didn't think anything on his own.
"You are right and wrong at the same time...", Jake concluded after hearing all that.
"Huh?"
Jay was wrong?
He was shocked when he heard that, well, according to him, he said everything correct, but it seemed like Jake wasn't satisfied with something.
'I knew it...'
'He wanted to hear something different...'
'Everyone would know such basic knowledge...', Jay frowned while thinking this.
"Indeed, shadows are dark regions, and you were right about that..."
"But after that whatever you said were nothing more than some nerdy stuff which you learned up..."
"By no means are they correct.", was what Jake said.
So was he saying that all the scientists that had discovered or concluded this were fools? Or perhaps they had concluded wrong?
"Shadows are present for everything in this world..."
"There is nothing in the world that doesn't have a shadow..."
"Even a luminous body or a transparent body would have a shadow!"
Jay thought that whatever Jake said sounded way too crazy.
'How can a luminous body have a shadow when it is the one producing light?', Jay asked himself.
"Listen, shadows are present all the time, however, we can only see it during the daytime in the presence of a light source!"
"Even air, which is considered to be transparent, produces shadow..."
"But it's just not visible because the atoms or molecules are so small and wide apart!", was what Jake said.
Jay understood the meaning behind that, what Jake meant that the shadow existed but was not visible, that was the only difference.

"But, how is that related to what I asked?", Jay asked.
"Well, the skill which you used..."
"It lets you see through all illusions or abnormalities..."
"Which means...", Jake paused after saying only this much probably because Jay had already understood what he meant.
"Which means that I can see the invisible too?", Jay continued and said that.
"Yes...", he nodded.
Their conversation was halted there. Jay now was determined to dive inside the lake.
'So that's the pearl...', he took a look at the lake and almost instantly found out the pearl on a bush-like plant of something in the blood which was pretty weird.
Regardless, he jumped right into the water right after activating the stealth.
'Ding'
[ You have used the skill Stealth ]
[ Your presence... ]
Thanks to that he was able to pass right near the huge fish-like monsters. Of course, they would be stronger because they lived in higher-density substances like blood!
He swam to the bottommost part of the lake. For a lake, it was unusually deep!
It took him around a minute to reach the bottom part and all this time he had been holding his breath.
Well, he had no problem in doing so. Had it been any normal human, then he or she would have had a hard time dealing with the oxygen supply.
Of course, Jay was a hunter and a high level at that too so it wasn't much of a thing for him.
Regardless, he turned his head to track the place where he had seen the pearl earlier. His eyes weren't hurt at all since the black smoke which looked like an aura protected it.
His ears were completely exposed to the blood though and without a doubt, some even entered his ears probably because the external pressure was greater than internal pressure.
Thanks to his sturdy body, he was fine while facing the heaviness of the pressure.
He turned his head towards the right and finally found the bushes which had the pearl. They seemed a bit creepy because of which Jay hesitated to approach them.
They had thorns on them too and on seeing them, no one would dare to approach them, at least if the person had a sane mind that is.
Regardless, he had to get the pearl to make the essence, and thus he swam towards it.

'Hmm, that plant isn't a monster is it?', he asked himself before getting too close.
'Ding'
[ Blood Lake Creeper ]
[ -> A Creeper like a plant that drains the blood to grow ]
[ -> Highly sensitive to external stimulus ]
[ -> Weakness: Water ]
The system notification suddenly popped up just when he started to stare at the plant intensely.
"Huh?"
"It's highly sensitive?", he asked himself.
"And its weakness is water?", no wonder the plant survived where there was blood.
Well, for the plant, it was the ideal surrounding. However, the blood did have water in it mixed so how was the plant able to survive that?
It remained a mystery, well, the thought never crossed Jay's mind in the first place. All he had to do was take the pearl which seemed to be resting on top of it.
Fortunately enough, he swam and finally reached the plant. Then he slowly tried to lean and bit and take the pearl when suddenly his lung started to give in to the pressure.
Well, his body wanted him to breathe as soon as poss Blr because the muscles weren't getting any oxygen at all and even if they were getting, it was very very less!
He moved his right hand forward and grabbed the pearl, or rather pearls, there were two of them and he grabbed both.
'Ding'
[ You have deactivated the skill Stealth ]
[ Your presence will no longer be hidden ]
[ Your... ]
It was possible because he deactivated the stealth, but right after he did that, many monsters turned and started to swim towards him.
But right after gaining the pearls, he used the skill almost instantly by forcing himself and his mind.
'Ding'
[ Yiu have used the skill Stealth ]
[ Your... ]
He didn't see though, cause his hands were numb.
He swam back with all his power and in just a blink of an eye, he reached the top!
'Huff huff'
He was panting heavily and was trying to inhale as much as possible right after reaching the surface.
He then swam back to the land and then walked towards Jake while deactivated the skill.
"I got it...", was what he said.
"Good now let's go for the next thing...", Jake said in a low voice.
"Next thing?", Jay was satisfied with getting one of the four things,
Whatever, that didn't mean that he could stop. He still had tons of things to do and for that, he required three more items.
Right after saying that, Jake formed a whole new portal on seeing which Jay was surprised and puzzled.
"But..."
"Didn't you say that we would get two of the four things here?", Jay asked.
"Ya, I said, what about it?", Jake asked as if he had said nothing wrong.
"Then, shouldn't we find another thing here?"
"The only thing that I've found till now is blood pearl...", Jay said with a big of confusion.
"Huh?"
Now Jake was surprised when he heard that.
"You got only one thing?", he asked to confirm it.
"Yes...", Nay nodded his head.
"But I sense two of the Blood items with you..."
So that was how Jake was able to confirm that he had two items, it was probably because he sensed the pearls, basically, he had two of them and that was what led to the confusion.
Jay hadn't realized that and when he opened his hand, he found two of them.
"Sigh, that's why...", Jake sighed.
However right after that, he asked Jay, "But didn't you find the Blood Grass?"
Jay didn't spit anything like that and thus shook his head while saying, "No, all I did was find this on a Creeper and nothing else..."
"Creeper?", Jake was surprised when Jay used that term.
After Jay explained what it was, Jake raised his voice to the fullest and said, "That is the second item!"
"What!?", that surprised Jay completely.
"That Creeper is the second item?", Jay asked to re-confirm if he had heard it right.
"Yes!"
"The Blood Lake Creeper is also called the Blood Grass or Blood plant because that is the only plant capable of growing in Blood!", Jake explained.
Right after hearing that, Jay threw the pearls into his inventory and jumped in the lake again to get the creepers.

Supreme Formation Immortal Sovereign
Falling under the Heavenly Tribulation, Ascending Celestial Oalur Kang finds that he's back in the past. Watch him pursue the Heavenly Path of Formations and rise to the peak of the Immortal Path! . . . . . . . . . Hello, this is F-Rank! This is my take on writing cultivation stories. Though I'm sure nobody cares, the intent behind this story was focused on creating a more or less logical cultivation system. I read several stories where the mc transmigrated to a cultivation world (not calling names to avoid unnecessary angst) and was able to completely break the cultivation system and the logic of the world because they had the power of science on their side and were able to think more logically than everybody else. Despite the fact that some characters in those stories were older than the scientific method of thinking and even the human civilization as we know it and the whole society was older than our human race. So I decided to write a story where things about cultivation make sense (as far as a magical world full of super magical people can make sense), so here we are. I don't know if I will be able to fulfil this purpose but I hope that the story will end up enjoyable. Can also be considered a prequel for my other story "Wasn’t my new life in a magical world supposed to be easy?" but has very little overlapping content and can be read as a stand alone story. Also available on Scribble Hub.

Sanguine
The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.

Glitch — Alpha [Swedish] [Svenska]
********* For English readers: (Might as well add this information in English to save the lovely souls looking through our works some time) I probably won't translate this work, but I'm working on another translation within YA, if that's something you'd be interested in. This one's horror/thriller, so.. yeah. Maybe sometime in the future. Otilia works at a daycare when a child disappears. Seconds later, the child reappears, like nothing had happened. She thinks she's worked too much, but when disappearences start to happen all around the globe, she and her boyfriend realize that something has gone really, really wrong. When they get an idea about what could be the cause, no matter how unbelievable, they will do everything in their power to get the information to the right people. This was my first-ever-novel and my first gamelit story (though I had no idea that was a thing/genre at the time). This novel contains a lot of violence and blood and can be uncomfortable to read for some people. There is also some violence from, and off-screen violence to, children.
