The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 157

Jay took a good look at the skills yet again and agreed by selecting 'Y' at first.

Then he said, "Since you are the only one..."

"..."

"I choose Blast Cannon..."

Res heard what he said but didn't give any reaction because he was unsure of what exactly he was uttering.

But then all of a sudden, the arrow which had been formed, changed it's appearance.

It basically vanished right after which a large amount of mana and energy started to gather right in front of the bow as if they were forming the arrow yet again.

"Sir Res... can you hold it for some time?", Jay asked.

"Huh...?", Res was taken by surprise because he thought that Jay didn't want his help.

He smiled and asked, "For how long?"

"..."

"5 seconds..."

[ The Blast Cannon will be ready in 5 seconds... ]

Jay glared at the screen of the system and repeated himself.

"Just hold it for 5 seconds."

"Alright boy..."

"Syzo Derum!", Res shouted right after which two giant hands appeared out of nowhere.

One hand was on the right side of the statue while the other hand was on the left side.

Both the hands were covered with blazing hot flames that could even burn the rocks completely!

It was aimed at the statue. Res knew that the statue wouldn't be destroyed by that because it had the so called barrier which it produced each time it was attacked.

The same thing happened and the barrier was formed yet again.

The hands could only end up crashing to the barrier.

'Tsk, if I want I can finish it in a mere second...', he thought in his mind.

That was because he was holding back while using his skills and even now he hadn't used all of his powers.

The reason was quite simple which was just pure curiosity and nothing else.

Since the start he knew about the statue and the runes, but it seemed as if he played along so that he could get to know Jay even more deeply.

[ 1 second before complete charging... ]

Even a single second felt like ages and it literally seemed as if time had been slowed for a while.

'Ding'

[ The Skill Blast Cannon can be used ]

Finally, the system notification which he had been waiting for appeared.

Res too took back the skill which he had been using sine he noticed Jay walk a few steps forward.

The barrier was still up and it seemed as if the statue had sensed the attack that was going to happen right now.

"And..."

Jay had a different flame in his eyes which was burning brightly.

He was about to release the string that could end up destroying the statue when all of a sudden a certain image flashed in front of his eyes.

It was more like a memory of some distant past which he was unfamiliar and familiar with at the same time.

"..."

He wasted another second and was mum right after which he released the string.

'Peeewwww'

A weird sound was heard as if something was cutting the wind and moving at an extremely high velocity.

Res was completely surprised to see the blast of energy that was fired.

It indeed seemed no different than a cannon.

"This... it's quite good...', he said in his mind with a cold sweat on his head.

'BOOM'

There was another massive sound heard which was probably because of the attack hitting the target.

There was no particular explosion but there was a cloud of dust for sure as if everything in front of him was destroyed.

"That was good Jay...", Res turned his head towards Jay to compliment him, but he ended up finding Jay lower his head.

"Jay...?"

He then slowly turned his gazes towards the right to see what had actually been struck and if the statue was still intact or not.

"Huh...? What the hell!?"

"..."

Res was completely shocked when he took a look at the statue which was completely fine.

That didn't mean that the attack wasn't strong. In fact the attack was so strong that just because of the shock wave of launching it, there were many cracks formed near Jay.

The thing that surprised Res the most was that the attack didn't even hit the target properly.

It was as if the attack was desperately aimed somewhere else.

The statue was completely fine but the wall behind hit, just 10 meters away from it were completely broken.

The entire sky was visible due to that and without a doubt it meant that the attack was strong enough to even destroy the Sky Dungeon.

Even the barrier had already been broken so without a doubt it surprised Res that Jay failed to aim the attack at the statue because no one would actually miss such a big target.

It was quite ridiculous which left Res completely confused.

All he could do was look towards Jay and ask him what actually happened.

though, he had already thought of a very few possibilities that could have happened.

First was that the weapon wasn't completely ready or was defective. That way the attack might have been missed.

the second was that Jay failed to handle to recoil or the attack which pushed or changed his angle due to which the attack missed.

The third and final thing which he thought of was that the statue might have used some trick and dodged the attack.

All these possibilities existed which Res thought in his mind.

He then walked towards Jay when he found that the statue was immobile for a while probably due to the shock that it received from the attack.

"Jay... Jay!", he called out to him while grabbing his shoulders since it felt as if Jay was completely lost in his thoughts.

"Are you alright?", Res asked since that was even more important that defeating the statue.

"Y-yes...", Jay just nodded his head but he still had the same gloomy expression on his face as that of earlier.

Res knew that definitely something was wrong because the face that was shinning with confidence couldn't have just ended becoming gloomy just like that!

"Tell me, did you deliberately miss the attack?", he asked.

He knew that this couldn't have been the case but then again it was better to ask for the sake of confirmation and self satisfaction.

"Yes, I missed it deliberately..", he said with a low voice.

"Oh so you..."

"Huh?"

"Wait... what!!?"

Res was completely astonished when he heard Jay say that.

It was totally unexpected so it did give a stunning effect to Res.

"If you were going to miss then what was the use of attacking in the first place?", he asked.

"...", Jay didn't say anything and just stayed mum.

It was as if he didn't wanted to answer anything right now for some reason.

"Jay! I'm asking you!", Res was stubborn so he wanted to know for sure what actually happened.

"Well..."

After seeing his stubborn behavior, Jay decided to tell the reason which was non-existent to him.

"Actually, I don't know why but I won't be able to hit the statue...", Jay said.

"Huh? What do you mean by that?", he asked.

"...", Jay didn't have any answer about that.

All he knew was that there was something that was preventing him or holding him back from shooting the arrow at the statue.

'Why...? This sensation...'

Jay kept on asking himself the same question but each time he did, he was able to feel some weird memory being triggered.

"Tsk, let that be Jay, right now we need to take care of this...", Res said because he could see that the situation was quite grave.

He thought that everything would be over once Jay used the attack but that didn't happen.

All he wanted was to see if Jay could really solve this on his own but that didn't seem to be the case right now and it was quite clear since his thoughts were scattered.

If one didn't have much concentration then he wouldn't be able to complete the task and probably that was what happened with Jay because of which eh wasn't able to aim properly.

"Let me finish this...", Res thought about getting serious and was literally planning to finish the statue in his next attack but all of a sudden he heard Jay calling him.

"No, wait Sir Res!", it seemed like he had something else to say.

"What is it Jay? Don't tell me you will take out some other weapon and finish it?"

Res was basically criticising Jay because last time too he said the same thing but ended up failing due to which he couldn't bring himself to trust him anymore.

"No... what I want to say that we don't need to attack anymore...", Jay said quite boldly and confidently.

"Huh?", Res failed to understand what he meant by that because what he said didn't make sense.

If they weren't going to attack right now then they wouldn't stand a chance against the statue that was right in front of them right now.

"Listen to me..."

"The statue..."

"No... rather... 'SHE'..."

"She is hurt right now so please..."

"Don't attack."

Jay said with a gentle gaze in his eyes which completely confused Res.

He ended up stopping the attack which he was preparing after hearing this.

"What does that mean?", his voice had become a little shaky and the way Jay said made him feel as if he was the villain.

But it did seem like his words made some sense however the way he spoke was too weird.

It seemed as if he was able to understand the statue about which they were discussing right now.
