The Abandoned Hunter Chapter 122

"Pffttt...", he couldn't contain his laughter the moment he read the message.
It was not something funny but the way it was described was something which Jay thought to be humoral.
==========
[ The Owner Of The Dungeon 'Makruin' has fled the dungeon ]
- The dungeon now has no owner.
- Indentifying the next suitable owner [completed]
- Next owner detected,
[Congratulation]
- The explicit command of the dungeon has been given to you.
- You can freely use the the dungeon to your own will.
==========
When Jay read that the golden knight had fled, he thought that it was some joke and that was the very reason as why he laughed.
But the latter messages which he read were a bit serious since he was yet again given the ownership of another dungeon.
Basically this dungeon didn't seem to have any life form, other than that it was just filled with statues so he had to basically visit it again in order to find the actual mechanism of the dungeon as to how it worked.
That was the first message, the ne t message which he saw was quite interesting but he didn't quite get it completely.
==========
[Congratulation]
- Your title has been successfully upgraded from 'The Black King' to 'The Dark Overlord'
- 9 missing abilities acquired.
- 9 Generals have been acquired.
==========
"Hmm? 9 abilities? And 9 generals?", Jay was a bit confused at this point as he didn't understand what it meant but for some reason he knew about the first one.
He had been hearing about the dark overlord and now that he saw the message, it was confirmed as to why everyone thought that he was similar to the Overlord.
He had the title of the black king which was somewhat resembling that of the Overlord and now that he acquired the actual title, he confirmed that every problem was due to that title itself.
So he wasn't any happy when he saw that title, instead he wanted that title to vanish.
"Hmm, Let me check the status... there might be some upgrades in the abilities...", he said to himself.
He then immediately thought about his profile after which the window appeared.
'DING DONG'

He could see that he had leveled up quite a bit in the dungeon but he was regretting the fact that he could have leveled up even more if he has slain the golden knight.

All his other stats had also increased by a bit which was without a doubt a good thing but that was not what he wanted to see right now.
What he intended to look at was the abilities or skills that were given to him or that had been upgraded.
'System... display skills...', was what he said in his mind immediately after which another window opened in which all the skills were listed.

==========
Jay took a look at the skills that were shown which were not arranged in any specific order but right now he didn't want to tamper with anything. He just wanted to look at the so called 9 abilities that he got hit it seemed as if that was not shown in the skills list.
He could see the levels and the new evolved skills too. At the same time some skills were showing the word Evolve just next to them so he thought it would be best to do that.
'Hmm, But hasn't I already tried to Evolve the skill DASH?', he asked himself but then realised that he was thinking about the old system.
The old system literally sucked and that was why he didn't want to think anything of the past, right now all he wanted to do was concentrate on what he was having in hand.
"Ya, Evolve all of them...", he didn't click or ask to Evolve them one by one, all he said was the Evolve all of them simultaneously because he didn't have time and patience to look at all of them individually.
In a minute another notification popped up which was separate from the previously popped up ones.
'DING DONG'
==========
[Congratulation]
[The Skill Dash has evolved into Rank A skill 'Accel']
[ The Skill Lightning Strike has evolved into S rank skill 'Dark Lightning' ]
[ The Skill Bird's View has evolved into S rank skill 'Eye Of Darkness' ]
==========
"Yes! 2 S Rank Skills And one A Rank, not bad at all!", he said this happily after looking at the skills.

He wanted to check rightaway the exact details of the skills but he thought that it would be better to do that sometime later.
"Okay, the next message...", he took a look at the next message which gave him a firm smile on his face yet again.
==========
[ Congratulation ]
- You have completed the mission.
-> Clear The Sky Dungeon. [ Done ]
-> Difficulty Level - 'S'
Rewards:
1] Life Point: 01
2] 200 Stat Points.
3] Location Of 'The Dark Blacksmith'
4] Free Pass: 01
5] Beast Card: 01
==========
It was about the completion of the mission and the various rewards that he got based on the way he completed it.
He was kind of intrigued by the rewards a bit because he hadn't seen some of them earlier.
'Hmm... what's this beast card?', was what he asked himself because it was practically the first time he has seen that.
'DING'
==========
[ Beast Card ]
(-> A Specific Card which acts as a storage space for beasts.
-> Totally 6 types of elemental beast card exists.
-> others are basic beast cards.
-> Each Card has different beasts/monsters trapped inside it which can be used whenever required.)
=> Acquired 'Xyros' Beast Card.
= =>> Xyros: A Dark elemental 5 headed shadow snake beast. One of the guardians of the dark.
=> Rank 'S'
=> Usage timer: 00:01:00:00 [ 1 hour ]
=> Cool Down timer: 00:00:30:00 [ 30 minutes ]
==========
"...", Jay had absolutely no words to describe the shock that he felt due to the joy that was built up inside him.
It was as if his eyes would literally pop out of the sockets and fall on the floor.
Not only had he got a beast card, it was super OP and strong. He couldn't contain his excitement at all and wanted to use it immediately but he considered the place where he was resting and dropped the idea.
'Oh well, it's not like it will vanish suddenly... I'll use it sometime later...', was what he thought.
Then his glances fell on the another intriguing thing.
"Location of... the Shadow Blacksmith? What's this about?", he asked.
'DING'
==========
[ Location Of the Dark Blacksmith ]
-> Map >
- -> Dark Blacksmith: One Of the followers of the Dark Overlord, the ultimate Blacksmith who is a master of making Shadow/Dark Weapons.
- - -> One Of the legendary Weapons , The Kariokas, made by the legendary Dark Blacksmiths, awaits in the place.
==========
"That's...", he was surprised yet again and was excited after reading whatever was written on the screen.
"This is too intriguing... I just take a look at the place after I finish all the important stuff!", was what he thought.
"Now that this is over, let's take a look at other texts...", after saying this he looked at other texts most of which was about Leveling up and increment Of the stats.
Many other messages was about the healing of Jay. The skill Regeneration played a major role due to which Jay was able to get healed.
But right now his neurone were still in the state of shock and thus he couldn't actually muster enough amount of strength to even stand.
His muscles were experiencing utmost fatigue which would take at least a week to recover.
'Sigh... now the only thing I can do is recover completely and go and have re-evaluation...", was what he thought.
He didn't want to delay anymore because he wanted to participate in the dungeon that were spawning all around the country too.
"Alright, now it's decided... let me just...", he was about to say that he wanted to sleep when suddenly the door opened and Mia entered.
Jay immediately turned his head towards the entrance only to find many others who had accompanied Mia.
All of them were emitting the same magical energy which Jay had sensed when he was in the sky dungeon when they were tied.
"Mia...? And you all...", Jay said but there was no reply from them.
"Huh? What's wrong with you all?", he asked.
Something definitely felt weird because Jay hadn't felt the chilling energy from Mia earlier and it was only now when he was feeling this.
It was the same from everyone. He was concerned because all of their eyes were shining with blue lights.
"Say... what...", he was about to ask again when suddenly he looked at something which made him completely stunned.
All of them immediately bowed and said in a raised voice, "Greetings to the Overlord!"
"..."

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
