Dragon Prince Yuan Chapter 1163

Zhou Yuan had inexplicably become the overall commander of the heavens. However, he did not really care about such status. If it did not help to better unite the five heavens, he would honestly have zero interest in the position, because, if things went wrong, he would be the target of everyone’s blame.
After all, the higher the position, the greater the responsibility.
Despite this, Zhou Yuan could not reject. In the face of the mysterious and powerful Sacred Race, the three heavens needed someone to place their hopes and belief in. Guan Qinglong and Jiang Jinlin could originally fulfill the role, but after Zhou Yuan’s cultivation breakthrough, they were now rather lacking in comparison.
If Zhou Yuan had not stepped forward, the troop’s morale would have been substantially affected.
In any case, the most important thing now was to fight for nine main channels that would soon arrive! Compared to this grand event, the ancestral qi branch channels and mystic ruins were not even worth mentioning.
The power of the nine main channels was so great that it could even affect an entire heaven.
Such power was unimaginable to Heavenly Sun practitioners like Zhou Yuan and the others. If not for Guyuan Heaven’s special rules, practitioners with their cultivation would never have the qualifications to participate in a battle of such stakes.
However, it was also a huge opportunity for them. Even a tiny sliver of the power contained within the nine main channels was enough for them to undergo a complete transformation.
It was a one-in-a-million opportunity.
Hence, after becoming the overall commander, Zhou Yuan immediately ordered every member of the three heavens to begin rushing towards the central region, where the nine main channels disturbance was originating.
The army swiftly set off, making no pit stops. In fact, they even decisively abandoned any branch channels that were drawn out due to the nine main channels’ imminent emergence.

Everyone knew that all the other heavens, including the Sacred Race heavens, were heading towards the main channels at full speed.
The faster they arrived, the more time they would have to prepare.
...
Countless Genesis Qi clouds whizzed past in the sky.
Zhou Yuan was seated on a cloud at the very front. His eyes were lightly shut, and he was concentrating on the numerous changes that had occurred in his body.
He had honestly benefited a lot from the stone tablet.
Not only had his cultivation progressed to the advanced Heavenly Sun stage, but his Genesis Qi foundations had also soared to the 4.3 billion level, completely surpassing the 4 billion barrier. Do not underestimate this barrier; it was something that countless amazing heaven prides had ultimately failed to cross.
Even someone like Guan Qinglong would find it very difficult to increase his Genesis Qi foundation in the Heavenly Sun stage without some kind of amazing encounter, leaving him no choice but to instead attack the Nascent Source stage.
Moreover, there was a substantial gap between a practitioner who had stepped into the Nascent Source stage at the 3.9 billion level and the 4 billion level. In fact, it would even affect their future cultivation progress during the Nascent Source stage.
Wu Yao, Su Youwei and Zhao Mushen had the qualifications and potential to reach the 4 billion barrier because they were more talented than Guan Qinglong.
As such, one can see just how praiseworthy it was for Zhou Yuan to reach the 4.3 billion level. This was also the reason why the three heavens had unanimously agreed for him to be the commander in chief.
Such strength and foundations were more than enough to make them submit.
However, the 4.3 billion Genesis Qi foundation was not the only thing Zhou Yuan had gained: the seventh dragon rune on his Heavenly Sun had reached full completion. In other words, he now had a seven-claw Heavenly Sun.

Zhou Yuan was not far from the highest nine-claw Heavenly Sun. From what his senior brother Zhuan Zhu had told him, a heaven-defying transformation would occur when he achieved a nine-claw Heavenly Sun and stepped into the Nascent Source stage.
Initial, advanced and perfect were the three levels of the Nascent Source stage.
While others would reach the initial stage after ascending from the Heavenly Sun stage, a practitioner with a nine-claw Heavenly Sun would be able to directly form an advanced Nascent Source!
This was essentially skipping an entire lesser cultivation realm.
Only Nascent Source experts would understand how much time, effort and luck were needed to advance from the initial stage. Hence, such a breakthrough would definitely make them go crazy with envy.
“It is increasingly difficult to form the subsequent dragon runes. If I wish to achieve the nine-claw rank, I’ll need the power of the first channel!”
There were nine main channels, and the strongest among them was known as the first channel. For Zhou Yuan to reach the nine-claw rank, he would require the most powerful first channel. The others were just not enough.
Red-hot desire surging out from his heart, Zhou Yuan opened his eyes and peered into the distance, his gaze filled with fierce determination.
The battle for Guyuan Heaven was supposed to be extremely cruel, after all. Hence, regardless of whether it was for Hunyuan Heaven or himself, he would try to compete for the first channel in the final fight! Even if his opponent was the most mysterious and immeasurable Shengzu Heaven!
The next ten days were spent traveling at full speed.
On the tenth day, Zhou Yuan finally felt the ancestral qi undulations surge wildly. This meant that they were finally entering the central zone where the nine main channels would appear.
However, just as they entered, Zhou Yuan suddenly raised his hand. The endless stream of clouds came to a sudden halt behind him.
Guan Qinglong, Jiang Jinlin and the others frowned slightly as they looked towards the front. They had sensed the appearance of a great number of Genesis Qi undulations, and the scale did not lose much to their side.
Guan Qinglong asked in a solemn voice, “Is it the Sacred Race?”
Zhou Yuan shook his head as surprise emerged on his face. “Not the Sacred Race. It’s...Qiankun Heaven and Wuxing Heaven.”
“Oh?” It was Guan Qinglong’s turn to be surprised. He had not expected Qiankun Heaven and Wuxing Heaven to be together.
From the mountains in the distance, several streaks of Genesis Qi rose into the sky and swiftly approached.
Guan Qinglong’s voice immediately rumbled like thunder, “Friends from Qiankun Heaven and Wuxing Heaven, Hunyuan Heaven, Wanshou Heaven and Cangxuan Heaven have already elected captain Zhou Yuan of Hunyuan Heaven’s Tianyuan Region as the overall commander for the five heavens. We’d like to invite your commanders to come over for a discussion.”
Guan Qinglong did not hide anything. Instead, he dived straight into the most important topic to see what response Qiankun Heaven and Wuxing Heaven would have. After all, they needed to somehow unite the five heavens before the imminent final clash with the Sacred Race.
The approaching figures came to a stop when they heard his words and then returned to the mountain range.
It was silent for a long time.
In the end, a voice that was neither angry nor happy echoed from the mountains, “Qiankun Heaven does not accept your decision.”

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Molting the Mortal Coil
Reincarnated as a child in a new world a mild mannered programmer, named Sage, finds himself struggling to survive. The road to immortality is paved with danger, treasure, and conflict. This mystical eastern world is filled with Demonic Beasts, Treacherous Cultivators, and Extraordinary Legacies. Follow Sage on his journey to adapt to this new world, and find out if he can overcome the limitations of body, mind, and soul. Will he rise to the occasion and become a hero? Or maybe he'll turn to the dark side and end up a villain? Molting the Mortal Coil is more of a slower paced journey. It's not about endless battles and conquering the next bad guy who spits on the main characters shoes or sends him a funny look. There's also not a treadmill of tournaments or love interests. It's more of a slower burn with lots of, and hopefully not too much, world building. It's still supposed to be stuffed with action, but that won't pick up for a while since we start with a weakling. The first 30 chapters have a lot of time-skipping, but stay with me it gets better. I plan to re-write and add more to the first 30 in the future, but if you can push through I feel it gets much more fun after! Updates will be weekly. If you want to see more chapters, check out my Patreon(button at the bottom of every chapter)! Thanks everyone!
