The Human City was situation in the east side of the Reincarnation Holy Court.
It was a mammoth city.
As one of the Six Great Cities in the Reincarnation Holy Court, the Human City was several thousand li in length. Its walls were tall and towering into the clouds.
The human traffic flow was neat and in a flurry. The shops were plentiful and it was more prosperous than the Void City.
Su Mo had already changed his clothes and walked on the streets.
He was dressed in a simple green robe and he looked inconspicuous and ordinary.
That was his intention, to avoid attention.
He also hid his prowess such as the devouring primordial spirit and the chaotic energy.
He had deconstructed the Chaotic Energy. He kept most of it in his elixir field, hidden within the chaotic sage pill bag.
He also hid the devouring primordial spirit well, beneath the thick Five Elements Dark Force bag. If not for life and death, he would not activate it.
Su Mo had thought that unless Di Yihun and Tuoba Qingyun came personally, no one else would recognise that he was a Split Soul.
He walked in big strides and move towards the north of the city.
The Huma Palace, was situated in the north of the city. It covered the entire north region.
After a long while, he came to the northern part of the city and saw the Human Palace.
The Human Palace had a dividing wall that separated it from the Human City.
The doors of the Human Palace were made of green copper. They were huge, like the city gates. They stood majestically.
Sixteen guards stood in front of the palace doors. They lined both sides and everyone was powerful and strong.
The Human Palace was huge. The building was decorated with beautiful and luxurious materials. It stood graceful and majestic.
Su Mo did not go near the Human Palace. He found lodging near the palace gates.

He would wait patiently for the lady Qin'er to return.
If he had wanted to sneak into the Human Palace, he would need help from her.
He sat cross-legged within the room. While he waited he observed the doors of the Human Palace. He was pondering hard.
If fate allowed, he reckoned that he would be staying at the Human Palace for quite a long time.
This was the most dangerous place and at the same time, the safest place.
Firstly, he needed to leverage on the resources of the Human Palace to elevate his prowess.
Secondly, he needed to slowly get to know the warriors within the palace. He would make friends with these folks and then devise a plan.
Of course, he needed to know where the Palace Master stood in terms of Di Yihun.
Time passed by slowly. Su Mo stopped his practice and waited patiently.
After three days, Qin'er returned to the palace.
Of course, the duo Chu Yan and Luo Yu were accompanying her.
Upon seeing this, Su Mo left the inn and flew towards Qin'er.
"Lady Qin'er!"
Just before the trio entered the palace door, Su Mo hastily shouted.
"Yes?"
Qin'er turned around and when she saw Su Mo, she was a bit stunned.
"You again!" Chu Yan and Luo Yu were annoyed at Su Mo's pestering.
However, soon afterwards, Chu Yan wore a smile on his face.
They had returned home. He had no qualms about dealing with Su Mo.
"Duan Jingtian, what do you want?" Qin'er was filled with curiosity. She could not comprehend the young man's intention.
"Lady Qin'er, I will like to visit the Human Palace. Will you lead me into the Palace?" Su Mo moved towards Qin'er and requested politely.
"You want to enter the Human Palace?" Upon hearing his request, Qin'er was really shocked.
"Haha!"
At this time, Chu Yan suddenly let out a hearty laugh and sneered, "No wonder you attempted to get near us several times. Now we know your true intention is to be led into the Human Palace!"

"That's right. Can you help me?" Su Mo nodded and looked at the trio.
Luo Yu was unperturbed, and she remained silent.
"This …!"
Qin'er was hesitant. She did not immediately agree.
After all, she might be simple and naive, but she was not dumb.
She could make an introduction. That would be a small matter. However she was ignorant of Su Mo's background and naturally she would not be introducing a stranger.
Moreover, if Su Mo had an ulterior motive, would that be dancing with wolves then?
"Help?"
Chu Yan let out a wry smile and mocked, "Your identity is a mystery. Your motives maybe ulterior. And you dare to join the Human Palace?"
"I come from the Ultimate Sword Domain and am a dissertation. I merely want to find protection with a large clan. I have no ulterior motive," Su Mo explained patiently.
"Get lost!"
However, Chu Yuan did not give face. He said sternly, "Within three breaths, please make yourself disappear. Otherwise you shall bear the consequences!"
Su Mo was infuriated and had wanted to slap Chu Yan.
"Lady Qin'er!" Su Mo did not leave immediately. He looked at Qin'er and waited for her response.
"How's your talent? Our Human Palace does not recruit outsiders. We recruit only talented disciples!" Qin'er thought for a short while and asked gently.
"I am not a hundred years old yet. I've attained Rank 4 Empty God Realm. I am quite talented!" Su Mo declared.
Upon hearing Su Mo's words, Luo Yu expressed a naughty look.
Not a hundred years old? Rank 4 Empty God Realm?
These meant he was talented?
Such talents were abundant within the Human Palace.
Afterall, attaining Rank 4 Empty God Realm within a hundred years of age and attaining True God Realm within a hundred years of age were two entirely different concepts.
"Qin'er, ignore him!"
Chu Yan was showing his impatience and he lifted his sleeve. A huge wave of qi hit Su Mo.
Chu Yan was formidable. Due to the close proximity, the wave hit Su Mo directly.
Peng!
With a dull din, Su Mo's body lifted immediately and he moved away quickly.
"What a rascal!" Su Mo was terribly upset. However he controlled himself and he did not retaliate. He knew he would get into a lot of trouble if he did.
"Lady Qin'er, I live in the inn opposite the palace. I shall wait for your response!"
Su Mo used his mind power to convey the message towards Qin'er. With that, he left the Human Palace.
Chu Yan's strike did not injure Su Mo. Even if he had meant to kill Su Mo, his blow would not harm Su Mo at all.
With Chu Yan being around, it would be challenging for Su Mo to get help from Qin'er. He would need to wait for another opportunity.
"Lowly ant!"
Seeing that Su Mo was unscathed, Chu Yan was filled with spite for the man and shook his head in disdain.
"Let's go!" Luo Yu urged her companions and she led them into the Human Palace.
Qin'er peered at the departing Su Mo. She was hesitant as she had clearly heard Su Mo's message.
Su Mo had wanted to wait for her!
"Qin'er, rest assured. I have not harmed him!" Chu Yan alleged with a smile. He had not delivered a hard blow and Duan Jingtian would be unharmed.
"Okay!" Qin'er nodded and without saying anything more, she followed Chu Yan into the Human Palace.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
