《Warrior’s Promise》Warrior's Promise

Time flashed by swiftly. Countless warriors gathered in the open field of the Ninth Mountain.
There was commotion everywhere.
The discussions were all about the challenge of the Saints.
The top two contenders for the title were none other than Ancient God Tu Ying and Ancient Demon Tuo Si.
After all, they were the top second and third positions on the Ten Thousand Archean Tribe Board. These two had the most baffling and mysterious fighting prowesses.
These two had kept a low profile, so no one could ascertain their true prowess.
Besides these two contenders, the next qualified contender would be Su Mo.
After all, Su Mo's prowess was first revealed at the First Mountain. He had slain a warrior, with Rank 3 Empty God Realm. That warrior was from the Sky Tyrant Clan. At the time of the duel, Su Mo had merely attained Martial Sage Great Completion Realm.
At the point of speaking, Su Mo had achieved a breakthrough in the Empty God Realm. Everyone wondered about the future conflicts between the Sky Tyrant Clan and the Sorcerer Tribe.
"Here they come. The Sky Demons Tribe and the True Demon Tribe are here!"
Someone screamed after a pause.
The crowd turned their eyes towards the distant Empty Space. Another huge gang of warriors had arrived.
This group of around thirty warriors were from the Demons Clan.
The Clan had two branches, one called the Sky Demons Tribe and the other branch was the True Demon Tribe.
These two branches existed in different regions. Both had few interactions with each other. However, along the God's Path, both branches had agreed to unite their forces to deal with outsiders.
It was rumoured that both the Sky Demons Tribe and the True Demon Tribe, were the descendants of the Ancient Demon Tribe. They bore the same lineage.
The tribesmen of these two were all painted black. They were tall and stout, with ugly facial features. They looked similar. However, the artforms of their practices were vastly different.
A strong sense of demonic power enveloped the gathering venue. The demonic force had dispelled the Boundary Space Force in the Empty Space.

Su Mo had wasted no time in opening his eyes and sneaking a peek at the Demons Clan.
He locked his gaze onto one black-robed man.
This man had looked the same. He was clothed in a black robe from head to toe. Even his face was covered with a hood.
It was Ancient Demon Tuo Si!
Su Mo had recognised him right from the beginning. His opponent on the Eighth Mountain had looked exactly the same since their last meeting.
Besides Ancient Demon Tuo Si, Su Mo saw another familiar opponent, Demon God Jiu Yang.
Swoosh!
The team from the Demons Clan descended one after another.
The warriors from the Demons Clan did not harbour any grudges against Su Mo. Upon their descent, they greeted everyone.
Ancient Demon Tuo Si did not take notice of Su Mo. He greeted the team from the Nether Tribe. He kept to himself afterwards.
The relationship between Tuo Si and the Nether Tribe was a longstanding one. When Ancient Demon Tuo Si had been growing up, it was the Nether Tribe who had taken care of and protected him.
However, despite his low profile, Tuo Si was magnetic and attracted everyone's attention to him.
Everyone, including saints such as Wu Zuo, Li Qianjue, Long Daotian, Xing Yuanhao, all looked at Tuo Si. They had wanted to find out the mystery behind Tuo Si.
No one would underestimate this rare, talented Ancient Demon.
After all, Ancient Demon Tribe was the ancestor of the True Demon Tribe and the Sky Demons Tribe. It gathered all the talents of the True Demons and the Ancient Demons, and hence it was indomitable.
"Ancient Demon?" Su Mo sneered. He would kill any opponent, no matter which Demon Tribe the opponent was from.
"How come Tu Ying is still not here yet?"
"Is he still coming?"
"Chief Xing Han, how come Tu Ying is late?"
"Yes indeed, where is Tu Ying?"
With the arrival of the Demons Clan, several folks got anxious. At this moment, most of the other forces, and talents had arrived, except Tu Ying.

Many people started to inquire after the chief of the Star Tribe. After all, Tu Ying had always been under the protection of the Star Tribe.
Xing Han was the chief of the Star Tribe. He had a short moustache and wore a grey robe. He looked skinny but he wore a smile on his face.
"Everyone, don't fret. Tu Ying will surely come!" Xing Han arched his hand to everyone and replied smilingly.
He knew Tu Ying could have been delayed by some urgent matters. He believed that Tu Ying would have hurried over after he had settled the matters on-hand.
Xing Han was bent on winning the Dawn Stone Mine challenge.
The Star Tribe had two talents, one was Xing Yuanhao, who was a saint ranked sixth on the God's Path; the other was none other than Ancient God Tu Ying.
Therefore, the Star Tribe would surely win the best Dawn Stone Mine along the God's Path.
"So, how long shall we wait?"
"If Tu Ying does not show up after another half hour, he may be disqualified."
"Precisely. We can't delay indefinitely for one person."
Many voiced their displeasure.
In actual fact, these folks who complained were not genuinely displeased. Their real intention was to kick Tu Ying out of the game.
If Tu Ying was not a contender, they would have a better chance to win.
"I am here!"
At this moment, there was a sudden turn of events. An overbearing voice echoed in the air.
The voice was not that loud. However there was utter silence after the statement was made.
However, what amazed everyone was that, amongst the thousands of those present, Tu Ying was not among them.
No one knew where the voice had come from.
"How can this be?"
Everyone was flabbergasted. Where was Tu Ying? They could not locate his whereabouts.
At that moment, another change ensued.
The air currents and Spiritual Qi became chaotic. They gathered swiftly towards the centre.
Everyone looked up at the sky. Su Mo's eyes were open wide. He was shocked.
Between everyone's terrified looks and the gathering of the air currents and the spiritual qi, within a few breaths, a white shadow had quickly formed.
The air currents and spiritual qi formed the body, white dress and hair.
Although the shadow was formed by the air currents and the spiritual qi, it was as real as it could be.
The person stood ten feet tall, he was enormous in size, much larger than the giants in the Sky Tyrant Clan. He emanated an air of horror and mystery.
It was a youth, with a cool and determined expression. He was handsome and steady and looked rather attractive.
"Everyone, I am Tu Ying and I am here!"
A tall youth stood as tall as the sky. He lowered his head to look at the countless warriors and he greeted calmly.
He did not have a loud voice. However, it was as if a sudden thud of thunder had vibrated amongst everyone's heart.
Many folks were overwhelmed with amazement, because they had never met Tu Ying previously. They had heard about the Ancient God, however they had never seen him.
Tu Ying's appearance took everyone by surprise.
"How can it be?"
"How does he exist? Is he a human?"
"How magical!"
Many folks muttered softly as they were bewildered. What they had seen did not suggest that Tu Ying was a human being.
This surprise was too much for the spectators. Even for those warriors who had lived several tens of thousand years. They were equally flabbergasted.
"Is this the Ancient God?"
Su Mo was also caught by surprise. He looked at Tu Ying, dumbfounded. The person he had seen was definitely no human being. His body was formed by the energies from heaven and earth.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.

Shizuka
A/N: I'm actually writing two stories at once, this and another story on ScribbleHub. I have decided to put Shizuka on hiatus due to some RL issues but my story on ScribbleHub will continue since I'm co-writing it with a friend which is easier. Please do check it out on ScribbleHub. Series name is Walking in Shadows. Four Heroes were summoned from earth to combat an evil threat in Evarenan but there was a fifth person, Hirano Shizuka. She was never meant to be summoned. It was purely coincidental and unintentional. The God who acted as the intermediatery for the summon, has shunned her. Fated to live a harsh life in a foreign world. Abaddon, a Goddess, the Empress of Night, took pity upon Shizuka. Fascinated by the strength of her will and soul, and fond of her humble and accepting character, the Goddess offered Shizuka to be her Champion which Shizuka accepted. A month passed after the arrival of the Heroes and a plus one at Evarenan, the real trials and nightmares of this world had only just begun for our offworlders, especially Shizuka. AN: Shizuka is the sequel to Overture of an Odyssey, which takes place after the events of the latter.
