Chapter 1559: The Weird Insect
Su Mo carefully walked into the pitch black cave.
He was walking very slowly because the cave was completely dark and filled with a dense layer of Ghost Qi. Even with his cultivation rank, he could not sense anything over 200 feet away from him.
The Ghost Qi filled the place like a thick layer of haze. Not only did it block his sight, it also prevented him from sensing anything with his spiritual senses.
Reaching his hands out in the pitch black cave, Su Mo felt as though he was being crushed. Even a small wind blowing towards him felt like a grave danger.
Thump!
A loud pounding sound echoed through the room. Su Mo had stepped on something soft and as he bent down to take a look, a flash passed through his eyes.
A cold corpse was below him and there was no sense of life in it.
“It’s him!” Su Mo’s heart jumped in shock. The corpse was that of a Black Flame Tribe member that had entered before him.
The corpse on the floor definitely belonged to one of the three Black Flame Tribe members who had entered before him.
Su Mo was flabbergasted. As he leaned in closer to take a look, he did not find any injury on the man.
“How did he die?” Su Mo was confused. What kind of danger was in this cave? How could it kill a man so silently, without any trace?
Su Mo carefully checked through the corpse again and was immediately taken aback.
“It is empty!”
Su Mo’s eyes bulged open. He realised that the Black Flame Tribe member’s skull was empty.
The man’s skull was the only thing left in the corpse’s head. What was going on? Where did his brains go?
Woosh!
Right as Su Mo was pondering the odd circumstances, the scene before him changed.
A black stream of light shot out of the Black Flame Tribe member’s mouth towards Su Mo’s face.

This stream of black light was small. It was only as big as a fly, but it was incredibly fast. At the speed of light, it flew towards Su Mo’s mouth.
Since Su Mo was leaning in closely to the corpse, he saw the stream of black light but did not manage to dodge it.
In the blink of an eye, Su Mo whipped his head around and the black stream of light landed on his face.
A sharp pain shot through his face. The black stream of light had cut through his flesh and was currently entering his skull.
Buzz
Without hesitating, Su Mo activated his special body constitution. His flesh and skin instantly became as strong and sturdy as a weapon.
The pain disappeared and the black stream of light appeared to have hit metal. It was unable to cut through Su Mo’s flesh further.
Su Mo raised his hand and pressed it against the black stream of light. Then, he pinched the black spot and slowly took it down.
As he stared intently at the black spot, Su Mo realised that it was actually an insect that was as big as a housefly.
A jet-black shell covered the insect and it looked like an ant. A pair of wings was on its thorax and it possessed mandibles that were as sharp as needles. At the same time, it was glowing with an ominous light.
Buzz buzz!!
The insect struggled desperately between Su Mo’s fingers as it buzzed continuously.
“What insect is this?” Su Mo was curious. The insect had a strange appearance and it was the first time Su Mo had come across anything like it.
“Could this man’s brain have been eaten by this insect?” A sudden thought appeared in his mind and Su Mo’s heart quavered at this thought.
A Martial Honorable had his brains eaten by an insect? Was that possible?
Then, Su Mo squeezed his fingers hard and squashed the insect to death.

Buzz buzz!!
A strange cry escaped the insect’s mouth and it did not die.
“What a strong insect!”
Su Mo exclaimed in surprise. Although he had only squeezed his fingers lightly, under the forces of his special body constitution, the insect had encountered a force as strong as the crushing of a mountain. Yet, it still did not die!
“Die!” Su Mo channelled Dark Force through his fingers and squeezed hard again. Instantly, the insect was crushed into pieces.
Su Mo’s face turned serious. That insect couldn’t be the only one in the cave, it seemed he had to be extra careful.
He had to make sure that the insect did not fly near him or enter his body. Otherwise, he would be in deep trouble.
Su Mo continued to venture deeper into cave with an extra sense of caution.
Zap! Zap! Zap!
An air-rending sound pierced through the air a few moments later. Two streaks of thick black radiance shot past Su Mo’s body like black lightning.
Buzz buzz~~
Su Mo was prepared and the Dark Force in his body rolled out to form a protective array around him.
Bam bam bam!!!
Around 5 black-colored insects smashed against the Dark Force protective array. To Su Mo’s horror, the insects began tearing apart the Dark Force protective array by biting through it. Cracks appeared in the Dark Force protective array.
“Die!” Sword Radiance flashed in Su Mo’s hands as he quickly sliced down.
Sword Radiance shot out and sliced the few insects into pieces.
With that, Su Mo continued to go deeper into the cave. The cave was deep and wide and Su Mo could not tell where he was going.
As he walked forward, he found ten corpses below his feet. There were bodies of True Path Sect disciples, Black Flame Tribe members and other bodies of the other superpowers.
“It seems many people came here!” Su Mo thought to himself. This confirmed his suspicions of a treasure in the mountain. What else could explain why so many people risked their lives to enter the mountain?
As Su Mo casually scanned through the people, Su Mo realised that these men had been killed in a similar fashion to the Black Flame Tribe member he had encountered early on. There was no external injury on the corpse and all the bodies were missing their brains.
Su Mo guessed that the people who died here had encountered insects that entered their bodies and ate their brains. Hence, they died without any knowledge of it.
Buzz buzz buzz~~
A few moments later, a buzzing sound passed by Su Mo’s ears again and he immediately stopped moving forward.
Su Mo’s face turned dark. This buzzing sound was definitely from the fluttering of insect wings. Su Mo could tell that there was a large mass of insects.
As expected, a large black colored wave rushed towards Su Mo a few breaths later. An uncountable mass of insects flew towards Su Mo at the speed of light.
There were at least a hundred insects in this wave. Strange sounds escaped their mouths that caused Su Mo’s hair to stand.
“Get lost!” Su Mo yelled out loud. With a mental thought, a hundred Natal Spiritual Swords appeared beside him and swept the cave like a fan.
The hundred Natal Spiritual Swords formed a hurricane like array that formed a defensive barrier in front of Su Mo.
Bam bam bam!!
The hundred insects rushed towards the sword array without stopping. They were instantly sliced into pieces and their corpses dropped lifelessly onto the floor.
Su Mo continued on his path forward. The Ghost Qi was getting thicker w he entered the depths of the mountain.
Right at the moment that Su Mo killed the hundred insects, a group of 20 martial artists landed outside the skull head mountain.
These people were Li Hentian and the group of Empty Sky Sect disciples.
