Chapter 1520: Cannot Afford It
Lyu Gang had his eyes wide-open as he stared unblinkingly at the Dawn Stone on the auction block.
He regained his senses only after he heard Su Mo’s words. In a serious tone, Lyu Gang explained, “Su Mo, this Dawn Stone is highly mysterious. I heard that it has Origin Energy from the origin of the world and can perform miraculous feats.
“What is Origin Energy?” Su Mo asked again, it was the first time he had heard of such a term.
“I am not actually sure what it means as it is the first time I am seeing this Dawn Stone!” Lyu Gang shook his head and said. He only knew that the Origin Energy was a mysterious form of power but he couldn’t explain what the Origin Energy was.
At that point, Gong Zhong raised both his hands in the air and shouted, “Everyone, quieten down!”
His thunderous voice shook the auction hall, causing the chaos to die down
Gong Zhong nodded his head slightly and continued, “Some people may not know what the Dawn Stone is, so I will introduce its properties to everyone here!”
With that, Gong Zhong’s voice deepened as he said, “The Dawn Stone sources its powers from the origin of the world and has Origin Energy. So, what exactly is Origin Energy? Origin Energy is the life source of all living things. The universe is created from metal, wood, water, fire and earth properties. All living things are formed from these five properties and these five properties is formed from Origin Energy!”
Gong Zhong paused a while before continuing, “With my cultivation rank, I am not too sure of the actual properties of the Dawn Stone and as such, I dare not put a price on the Dawn Stone. Of course, this Dawn Stone is an inferior good. It only has a small thread of Origin Energy in it and it is light, but complicated. Therefore, this Dawn Stone will not be valued highly!”
Clearing his throat, Gong Zhong raised his voice again and said, “we will start the auction of the Dawn Stone now. The minimum bid is 5000 Middle Spiritual Crystals and every raise in bid must be at least 500 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”

No one called a bid after Gong Zhong’s words. It wasn’t that no one was interested in the Dawn Stone but that everyone was too distracted by trying to absorb the shocking information which they just received.
Although many people didn’t know the exact use of the Dawn Stone, they had heard of its miraculous powers from many ancient books and seniors.
Although Gong Zhong mentioned that this Dawn Stone was an inferior good, it had already caught many people’s eyes.
Su Mo had already stood up in anticipation long before hand. His eyes sparkled brilliantly as he stared unblinkingly at the Dawn Stone on the table.
Origin Energy?
The source of the five properties?
Gong Zhong’s words were like a bolt of thunder that boomed through his head, causing him to be in a daze.
A moment later, the uproar of bidding sounds shook Su Mo awake.
“5500 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
“6000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
“7000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
“…”
Waves of shouts rose over each other as many wealthy martial artists started to bid for the Dawn Stone.
Those who had participated in the bid were VIPs who were in the rooms. Other attendees of the auction were not wealthy enough and they didn’t have the ability to participate in the bid at all.
Su Mo slowly took his seat as a cold flash passed through his eyes. His intuition was telling him that the Dawn Stone could be very useful for him. It might even be able to help him merge the five properties.
However, he might not have enough Spiritual Crystals to afford the Dawn Stone. Even if he had enough Spiritual Crystals, it would probably wipe out every penny he gained from the auction.
Su Mo’s thoughts spun through his head. He desperately needed Spiritual Crystals to raise his cultivation now and if he bought the Dawn Stone, he would be penniless.
Furthermore, since he had offended the Empty Sky Sect, he wouldn’t be able to participate in missions to obtain Spiritual Crystals for his cultivation. In that way, his cultivation would be at a standstill.
Most importantly, if Su Mo spent all his wealth on buying the Dawn Stone and it ended up to be useless for him, then Su Mo would be in deep trouble.

Su Mo eventually convinced himself to give up on the Dawn Stone. He was rather reluctant to do so as there was the possibility that the Dawn Stone could help him greatly in merging the five properties!
Just as Su Mo was involved in his inner turmoil, the increases in value of the Dawn Stone had reached an astonishing pace.
“8000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
“8500 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
“9000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
The price of the Dawn Stone continued to climb and it broke through the 10,000 mark a short while later.
“10,500 Middle Spiritual Crystals!” Yi Wei’s voice rang out.
“11,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!” Yang Tianwei’s voice followed thereafter.
“11,500!” Tian Lang’s hoarse, deep voice that was full of dominance sounded out.
“12,000!” A light, feminine voice that was as smooth as water came from room 3.
Su Mo’s eyebrows furrowed. The price of the Dawn Stone had risen so quickly, he could not participate in the bid!
“Lyu Gang, how many Spiritual Crystals do you have with you?” Su Mo turned to look at Lyu Gang.
“I only have 1000 Spiritual Crystals with me. But I have a few weapons that are worth another 1000 in total!” Lyu Gang told him. Lyu Gang knew that the Dawn Stone had caught the eye of Su Mo.
“2000!”
Su Mo heart fell inwardly. The items that he had sold in the auction added up to around 14,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals in all. After he took away the Sixth Chamber of Commerce’s remuneration, he would have less than 13,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals with him.
In addition to Lyu Gang’s 2000, it would only make up 15,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals in total. That could not buy the Dawn Stone.
Su Mo’s heart was in turmoil. If he really wanted the Dawn Stone, he would have to sell everything on him.
For instance, his stone sword and his martial skills would all have to be exchanged for Spiritual Crystals.
However, looking at the way things were going, he might not be able to compete against the rest of the buyers even if he sold everything on him!
Su Mo felt ashamed to not be able to afford the Dawn Stone.
“13,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!” Yang Tianwei’s voice rang out loud and clear, as though he had set his mind on getting the Dawn Stone at all costs.
“Damn it!
Tian Lang punched the chair he was seated on, reducing it to dust. He shot up straight as his eyes filled with rage in room 1.
He could not afford the price anymore. Even if he was considered wealthy, he had bought the three Void Wrecking Golden Arrows for over 8,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals previously. How could he afford another 13,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals?
How could he not be outraged by not having enough Spiritual Crystals to participate in the bid anymore?
“13,500 Middle Spiritual Crystals!” Yi Wei’s voice rang out, full of authority.
Then, she looked towards the True Path Sect disciples in room 7 and ordered, “Give me all your Spiritual Crystals, I will return it two-fold in the future.”
She also did not have enough Spiritual Crystals to purchase the Dawn Stone and could only borrow from the sect disciples in the same room as her.
“Yes, Senior Yi Wei!”
The True Path Sect disciples immediately emptied their pockets and gave Yi Wei the Spiritual Crystals that they had.
Yi Wei was able to amass a total of 8000 Middle Spiritual Crystals from them.
Of course, they withheld some Spiritual Crystals for themselves. They could not give all they had to Yi Wei and they held back a small portion for themselves.
Once Yi Wei had received the Spiritual Crystals from these True Path Sect disciples, she instantly felt rich and confident again.
“15,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals!”
Right at that moment, a clear, distinct voice rang from room 3, raising the bid to a total of 15,000 Middle Spiritual Crystals.
