Chapter 1487: Tai Changshan
Feng Guang could not understand Su Mo’s actions. Was Su Mo going crazy earning Spritiual Crystals?
He wasn’t being a simple disciple but he was inviting others up to defeat him and take away his pro-disciple status. Was that necessary?
Feng Gaung didn’t think that Su Mo would be lacking Spiritual Crystals. After all, Sage-to-be Zhen Gu had given Su Mo 1000 Spiritual Crystals the previous day. In his opinion, 1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals would be sufficient for Su Mo for a very long time.
“Elder Feng, can you help me with this?” Su Mo asked again.
“Alright!” Feng Guang nodded his head in agreement. Since Su Mo wanted his help, he would not reject it.
Of course, he wouldn’t do it himself.
Turning around, Feng Guang looked at the group of disciples around him. As his gaze fell upon a familiar disciple, he addressed him, “Go and inform the rest!”
“Yes!”
That disciple was a regular Martial Emperor and he dared not disobey Feng Guang. Hence, he quickly got down to his task.
With that, Su Mo calmly waited for another challenger to challenge him so that he can earn some Spiritual Crystals.
Looking at the disciple he had instructed flying off, Feng Guang’s eyes suddenly flashed as a thought passed through his mind.
This Su Mo had too much power and Feng Guang wanted to control and suppress it. Otherwise, Su Mo would become more and more arrogant and it wouldn’t be possible for the sect to try and control Su Mo anymore.
Then, Elder Feng’s lips started to move quickly as he used his Dark Force to pass a secret message.
In the distance, the disciple who had just flown towards Sun Moon Star’s atmosphere jerked his body and shot through the nine heavens towards Sun Moon Star’s True Path Sect.
The crowd were also waiting. Although almost a hundred thousand people had gathered at the scene, most of them were all Martial Emperors. There were also a few Martial Honorables but no one dared to challenge Su Mo.
Time passed by slowly and half an hour later, the disciple that had been carrying out Feng Guang’s orders returned.
Behind that disciple, a strong, muscular young man followed behind.

This man wasn’t tall but he was burly. And, as he wore a short sleeved shirt, the onlookers could clearly see the defined left and arm muscles of the man.
Average-looking and slightly tanned, the man had a gaze as sharp as a sword. With the addition of the axe he carried on his back, he exuded an alpha aura and a mysterious feeling.
“It is Tai Changshan!”
“Tai Changshan actually came, Su Mo is in trouble!”
“Didn’t Tai Changshan close himself up to cultivate? He actually came?”
The onlookers immediately started to buzz among themselves as soon as they saw the arrival of Tai Changshan.
Tai Changshan was no ordinary disciple. He was an incredible genius of the sect and although he was only a Rank 2 Martial Honorable, his powers were amazing.
A few months earlier, he had challenged a pro-disciple and only lost after they had exchanged a few hundred blows.
It could be said that Tai Changshan possessed a strength close to a typical pro-disciple and he was perhaps as strong as one of the weaker pro-disciples.
At that point, many people started to snicker amongst themselves. Su Mo had arrogantly invited people to challenge him and it seemed that Su Mo was going to get defeated now.
Once that happened, they would see how Su Mo was going to act!
A sly smile curled across Feng Guang’s face, he had specially instructed the disciple to bring along Tai Changshan.
With Tai Changshan challenging him, Su Mo was almost certainly going to be defeated. His bloated head and pride could finally be crushed.
Although Feng Guang was on good terms with Su Mo, he didn’t want Su Mo’s strength to be too powerful. He thought that slightly suppressing Su Mo and crushing Su Mo’s ego was necessary.
Shoosh!
Tai Changshan flew at lightning speed and stopped close to Su Mo.
“You are Su Mo?” Looking at his surroundings, Tai Changshan’s eyes fell upon Su Mo who was standing in the middle of the crowd.
“That’s right!” Su Mo nodded his head and also scanned Tai Changshan. He could see with one look that Tai Changshan would be a strong opponent.
Tai Changshan’s aura was dense and thick. As tumultuous as the seas, Tai Changshan appeared to be on par with Su Mo’s strength, and perhaps Tai Changshan was even slightly stronger than him.

Su Mo’s face immediately turned serious and he dared not underestimate his foe.
“Very good. I’ll be taking the pro-disciple status!” Tai Changshan nodded his head with a stoney expression. He had always wanted to become a pro-disciple. Previously, he had closed himself in seclusion to cultivate and was unaware of matters. Now that he had heard the news, he had decided that he must definitely obtain the status of the pro-disciple from Su Mo.
“Do you have the abilities for that?” Su Mo laughed lightly. He could tell that Tai Changshan was fully confident that he would win.
“Whether or not I have the ability, you will know soon!”
Tai Changshan coldly uttered and then he reached for the war axe on his back and suddenly a powerful aura rose up into the air.
“Hold it!” Seeing that Tai Changshan was prepared to attack, Su Mo quickly stretched his hand out and motioned for Tai Changshan to stop.
“What? Afraid?” Tai Changshan frowned as he taunted.
“How is that possible?”
Su Mo laughed before he spoke, “I need a bet for this challenge. Let’s discuss the stakes for it first!”
This was very important to Su Mo. The entire reason Su Mo had invited others to challenge him was to earn crystals.
Although Tai Changshan appeared to be very strong, Su Mo wasn’t afraid at all. He had yet to display his top strength after all.
“Bet?”
Tai Changshan’s voice turned deep and he shook his head and said, “1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals!”
Tsk!
The onlookers sucked in a cold breath upon hearing the declaration. 1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals was a very big bet.
Average Rank 1 and 2 Martial Honourables wouldn’t possess so many Spiritual Crystals.
Everyone looked at Su Mo, anticipating his reply. Tai Changshan had asked for 1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals – would Su Mo agree to it?
The group of disciples was not dumb and they knew early on that Su Mo’s motivation for inviting people to challenge him was to earn Spiritual Crystals. If Su Mo lost here, he would be utterly embarrassed.
Su Mo was also shocked as he had not expected that Tai Changshan would be so bold as to bet 1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals straight away.
“Alright then, 1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals it is!” Su Mo fervently nodded his head as his face turned serious. He had to win this battle.
He didn’t even have 1000 Medium Spiritual Crystals with him right now. With a total of 600 Medium Spiritual Crystals from Fu Tong and Jia Yan, he wouldn’t be able to pay the bet if he lost and it would be completely shameful.
Furthermore, if he lost here, then everything he did up to this point would be wasted.
The crowd was startled by Su Mo’s quick agreement. What courage he had!
This battle would be interesting!
Tai Changshan nodded his head and, without speaking any further, he activated the Dark Force within his body. Instantly, massive forces that carried the roars of the sea swept out like a large tsunami in all eight directions.
He did not underestimate Su Mo because he had heard previously that Su Mo had defeated Jia Yan. Although Jia Yan wasn’t exceptionally strong, he had to respect Su Mo for being only a Martial Emperor and possessing such strength.
Su Mo also didn’t dare to lose focus and he activated the stone sword in his hand. The stone sword flashed brilliantly as dazzling three colored Sword Qi wrapped around the sword and the sword forces shot through the sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Tai Changshan made the first move. However, he didn’t attack Su Mo straight away. Instead, he held the war axe in one hand and began to take a few deliberate steps towards Su Mo.
With each step he took, a booming sound sounded through the air as the ground where each of his footsteps landed crumbled apart.
What was even more surprising was that Tai Changshan’s strength seemed to increase several times with every step he took. Seven steps, eight steps, the power of Tai Changshan exploded exponentially and the aura around him seemed to be similar to that of a war god. At that moment, Tai Changshan appeared very vicious and powerful.

The unfolding events will force him and his friends to mature in different ways. - Each round will be held in a different location/planet. Some will fight for personal reasons while others for the sake of their people. The needs of many vs. the needs of the individual will clash on several occasions. - Finally, there will be twists and turns at every corner, so one should never get too comfortable. Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.
