Chapter 1159: Unexpected Surprise
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
The bald man exposed his true form. The shape of the Ancient War Elephant was terrifying and laid waste to everything around it.
The aura of such a massive form shook the heavens and made one feel an incomparable pressure.
Just by standing there, it made countless warriors feel a cold fear and be unable to have any thought of resistance.
The massive Ancient War Elephant and Su Mo made for a stark comparison. It was like the difference between a ferocious tiger and an ant, they could not be spoken of in equal terms.
A spirited light flashed through Su Mo’s eyes but he did not feel a sliver of fear. Although the beast was like this, it was still not worth him giving his all.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In the next moment, there came a serious of enormous explosion-like sounds from the void. One of the Ancient War Elephant’s column-like limbs stepped through the void and stomped ruthlessly toward Su Mo.
The giant elephant foot was shocking in its might, it crashed down from the sky like a ten-thousand-foot mountain.
In an instant, the void collapsed and the ground caved and boundless wild winds swept in from all directions.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The void shattered, the war elephant’s leg, from which the golden light emanated, shattered everything and it quickly fell on Su Mo’s head. With the pressure of Mount Tai, it pressed down ruthlessly.
“Break!”
Su Mo gave a roar and the golden light on his body glowed more resplendently. The power of five divine elixirs powered through him and the thick three-colored Dark Force surged violently around him.
He threw out an even more powerful punch directly toward the heavens.
This punch was very straightforward, it was purely physical strength and the power of the Dark Force but it was powerful enough to instantly kill a common Emperor-to-be.
In an instant, Su Mo’s tiny fist clashed ruthlessly against the giant elephant leg.
Boom!
A deep and muffled groan accompanied the exploding Qi strength and swept across the wasteland.
Su Mo’s fist was small, but the power it contained was like that of a surging river, endlessly terrifying.

The powerful strength released outward and it immediately pushed back the giant elephant leg.
The Ancient War Elephant’s body shook and flew upward. Unbelievably, Su Mo had managed to launch it thousands of meters into the sky.
Roar!
The war elephant’s roar rang out toward the sky.
Seeming to have been angered by Su Mo, the Ancient War Elephant’s body leaped once again toward Su Mo.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The war elephant’s giant nose was like a magic whip and it came down from the sky. It swept across the void and headed straight for Su Mo.
Seeing this, Su Mo frowned. It seemed that if he did not show them who was boss, this would never end!
“Swoosh!”
With a flash of light, the Emperor Sword appeared in Su Mo’s hand. It flashed with an icy light.
With the sword in hand, the aura around Su Mo’s body changed abruptly, it showed off his ability and was incomparably harsh.
“Slash!”
With a light cry, the razor-sharp sword Qi slashed through the air, splitting the heaven and earth, it cut ruthlessly across the elephant’s nose.

With an explosive sound, the sword Qi pushed back the elephant’s nose. The sharp light split open the defenses around the elephant’s nose and the sword Qi flashed through. A small river of blood sprayed through the air.
Roar!
The Ancient War Elephant roared. Immediately, the golden light around it retreated inward and the elephant once again became the bald man.
One could see that there was a thin sword mark on his high nose bridge where there were still some traces of blood.
“Kid, you win this time!” The bald man roared with an ugly expression. He finally realized that he was not a match at all for him.
Furthermore, he could tell that Su Mo had not used his full strength.
Thus he decisively stopped the battle. If it went on, he would just be looking for more trouble.
However, at this time, Su Mo was not paying any attention to the bald man at all. His gaze was focused on the golden blood that was falling from the sky.

Naturally, this blood was the bald man’s blood. The flesh of his elephant nose had been split open and the blood that flowed out was enough to form a small river.
Energy surged through this blood but Su Mo could feel the majestic power of a Dragonesque Elephant.
The blood of the bald man contained the power of a Dragonesque Elephant!
Without any hesitation, Su Mo immediately activated his Devouring Martial Soul and quickly absorbed this blood.
In the blink of an eye, Su Mo was completely enveloped by the surging golden blood.
“This is…!” Seeing this, the bald man’s eyes bulged and he did not understand what he was seeing.
This kid was actually absorbing his blood!
Below them, the black-clothed middle-aged man was also surprised by this. Was Su Mo cultivating some secret method that allowed him to absorb the energy from other’s blood?
Only Yi Xiaoxiao was not surprised because she knew about the ability of Su Mo’s Martial Soul.
Right now, Yi Xiaoxiao was very excited. Uncle Xiang had lost, he was completely not a match for brother Su Mo!
In the air, the battle came to an end.
But Su Mo’s figure remained in the vast ocean of blood. The golden light around his body flashed continuously while small and illusory Dragonesque Elephants swam up and down his body.
Su Mo sank into cultivation and this made the bald man angry.
He knew that Su Mo had cultivated the Archean Dragonesque Elephant Skill and he could see that Su Mo’s physical strength was increasing rapidly but having Su Mo use his blood in his cultivation made him feel more disgusted than swallowing a fly.
Although this blood was less than one-thousandths of the blood in his body, it was still his blood.
“Makes me angry!”
The bald man roared and turned around to fly back.
Time slowly flowed away, two hours passed in an instant and all of the golden blood had disappeared, Su Mo had also finished cultivating.
The blood of the bald man had raised his physical strength to almost that of an Emperor-to-be.
Although he was still some distance from the strength of an Emperor-to-be, the distance was not large.
“What a truly unexpected surprise!”
Su Mo laughed gently. He had not thought that such a wonderful thing would happen during his trip to the Wild Sacred Mountain.
Shortly after, his figure flew down and returned once again to Sacred Mountain.
The entrance to Sacred Mountain.
There were only the black-clothed man and Yi Xiaoxiao. The bald man was already gone, having returned to the inside of Sacred Mountain.
“Brother Su Mo, you’re too incredible!” Yi Xiaoxiao cried out exaggeratedly as she saw Su Mo return.
“Haha!”
Su Mo laughed slightly and turned his gaze toward the black-clothed man. “Senior…!”
He had just opened his mouth when he was immediately cut off by the black-clothed man.
The black-clothed man waved his hand and said casually, “You can take the girl away!”
“Many thanks!” Su Mo said and immediately gave him a fist-palm salute.
“However, I have a condition that you must promise to agree to now!” The black-clothed man said.
“What condition? Please, speak your mind!” Su Mo said and nodded.
“The specifics of this condition will be discussed in a few years!”
The black-clothed man shook his head and continued, “The major calamity of the Trial Tests is only a few years away. On the night before the major calamity, come back to Sacred Mountain!”
Su Mo was surprised by this but he thought about it and had some idea of what this was about.
His condition probably had something to do with the major calamity of the Trial Tester.
“Alright!” Su Mo nodded seriously. At the time of the major calamity, if he could cooperate with the three Barbaric Monsters, he could receive some support.
“Alright! You two can go!” The black-clothed man nodded and waved his hand casually.
Then Yi Xiaoxiao made her farewells to the black-clothed man and followed Su Mo to leave Sacred Mountain, heading toward the Central Continent.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
