Chapter 255: Such a Simple Task
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
When Su Mo followed the servant to the Tongs’ martial practice field, there seemed to be a duel going on.
However, it was completely silent and the atmosphere was a little ominous. There was an arrogant-looking and slim young man in the fighting ring.
The servant excused himself after bringing Su Mo to the outer ring of the martial practice field. As a servant, he did not dare to enter the martial practice field.
Su Mo walked into the martial practice field and then asked loudly while looking at the Tongs disciples, “Who, may I ask, is the young mistress of the Tongs?”
As Su Mo’s voice was heard on the quiet martial practice field, he became the center of everyone’s attention.
“Who’s this guy?”
“How can he come looking for Tong Wanqiu now? Can’t he see that there’s a duel going on?”
Weng Kuiwu also fixated his gaze on Su Mo. He was bothered that someone had come looking for Tong Wanqiu, his woman.
Tong Wanqiu walked out of the crowd with her face pale as a sheet. She forced a smile and said to Su Mo, “I’m Tong Wanqiu, the young mistress of the Tongs. It’s good that you’ve awakened so quickly!”
Su Mo was puzzled to see her pale face and abnormal smile, but he did not ask about it.
“I’m Su Mo. Thank you for saving my life!”
Su Mo held his fists together to thank Tong Wanqiu, and then continued, “Words can’t describe how thankful I am. If you have any requests for me, I’ll fulfill them!”
Su Mo was sincere and earnest because he was extremely grateful to Tong Wanqiu for saving his life.
Tong Wanqiu shook her head with a bitter smile. She was feeling so hopeless that she did not want to talk!
She had promised Weng Kuiwu that she would marry him if he could beat every single young martial artist of the Tongs.

And now, he had really done it!
Tong Wanqiu was a girl that kept her word. She did not want to break her promise, but she was unwilling to marry Weng Kuiwu.
Her mind was a mess and she had no idea what to do!
Su Mo was confused by Tong Wanqiu’s silence.
At this instant, a cold hum was heard.
“Hmph! Qiu’er’s my woman and I’ll be the one to fulfill her requests, not you. You can screw off!” Weng Kuiwu said from the entrance of the fighting field.
He spoke arrogantly while giving Su Mo a condescending glare.
Su Mo frowned upon hearing him and shot him a cold glance.
“Is this guy crazy? I haven’t offended him at all!”
Su Mo did not bother with him. He looked at Tong Wanqiu and asked, “Ms. Tong, I sense that you aren’t feeling well. Can you tell me what has happened?”
But Tong Wanqiu only shook her head and replied, “Master Su Mo, you’re welcome, but it’s not my intention to save you in return for a favor.”
“Master Su Mo, Sister Wanqiu’s actually in a crisis right now!”
It was Xiao Qing who was standing beside Tong Wanqiu that suddenly spoke. She pointed at Weng Kuiwu and continued, “Weng Kuiwu’s here to challenge all the young martial artists of our clan. If he’s undefeated, sister Wanqiu’ll have to marry him. You can return the favor by beating him!”
Although Xiao Qing could not tell the level of Su Mo’s cultivation, she expected him to stand a chance against Weng Kuiwu since his body was strong enough to even survive a demonic beast of Class 5 Lv 2.
Of course, Xiao Qing was not serious, since she did not have high hopes for Su Mo. After all, Weng Kuiwu was too powerful! There was hardly anyone in the Spiritual Martial Realm that could beat him!
“Is that so?”
Su Mo was startled upon hearing her. He glanced at Weng Kuiwu again and discovered that he was only at Lv 9 Spiritual Martial Realm. Su Mo then shook his head and said emotionlessly, “How can such a simple task be considered as repaying your kindness?”

Everyone was stupefied by Su Mo’s words.
“Simple?”
“Is beating Weng Kuiwu considered simple to this guy?”
“Don’t be ridiculous! This young man is merely about 17 years old, yet he dares to spout such haughty nonsense?”
Many sneered and shook their heads in disdain. “This kid has no idea about Weng Kuiwu’s power, or else he would not have said that!”
Tong Wanqiu was startled as well, but her eyes brightened up right after.
Although she did not expect Su Mo to be able to beat Weng Kuiwu, her hope was rekindled when she thought about Su Mo’s incredible human body and heard what Su Mo had said.
“Maybe…maybe Su Mo can actually beat Weng Kuiwu!”
Although the possibility of that was almost non-existent, it was not entirely impossible.
Tong Wanqiu then nodded at Su Mo and said with a smile, “Master Su Mo, if you can beat Weng Kuiwu, I’ll be the one in debt to you instead!”
Su Mo was surprised to hear that. From Tong Wanqiu’s attitude, it seemed that she really did not want to marry Weng Kuiwu!
Su Mo nodded and replied, “Alright! I’ll beat him for your sake!”
Su Mo sounded so casual as if beating Weng Kuiwu was a piece of cake for him, and left everyone speechless.
“This is preposterous!” A roaring voice was heard. It was Weng Kuiwu who shouted, and his face was dark from anger.
He had obviously heard everything that Su Mo said. In Su Mo’s mind, Weng Kuiwu seemed useless and could be easily defeated.
Weng Kuiwu was infuriated. He could no longer tolerate Su Mo’s arrogant and presumptuous attitude.
“Brat, get in the fighting ring now and I’ll destroy you!” Weng Kuiwu shouted angrily while his eyes beamed with a murderous intent.
Su Mo sneered at Weng Kuiwu and said condescendingly, “I don’t need to enter the ring to beat you. I’ll stand here and beat you in one move!”
Everyone was slack-jawed and stunned again. “What the hell! This guy’s too cocky!”
Weng Kuiwu’s face was black and even started pulsating. He had never seen such an arrogant person before.
“Your name’s Su Mo, right? You can make your move now! I shall see what you are capable of!”
Weng Kuiwu laughed creepily and said without concealing his killing desire, “If you do not have the strength that’s equivalent to your cockiness, then don’t blame me for being merciless!”
Su Mo nodded and reminded him, “I’ll make my move now, prepare yourself!”
Su Mo then started gathering an intense genuine Qi on his right fist.
Weng Kuiwu did not overly underestimate Su Mo, because he had already realized that Su Mo was at Lv 9 Spiritual Martial Realm as well. In terms of cultivation alone, Su Mo was equivalent to him.
The moment Su Mo started driving his genuine Qi, even the weaker disciples of the Tongs could tell his level of cultivation. Only then did they understand why Su Mo was so cocky. It was because Su Mo’s cultivation was equivalent to Weng Kuiwu.
The fact that Su Mo was already at Lv 9 Spiritual Martial Realm at the young age of about 17 years old, had impressed the crowd.
Despite so, no one felt that Su Mo could defeat Weng Kuiwu. After all, Weng Kuiwu was an expert that could easily defeat a martial artist at the Peak Lv 9 Spiritual Martial Realm.
Tong Wanqiu was eager to see Su Mo’s performance. She was hoping that Su Mo could actually contend against Weng Kuiwu. Even if Su Mo could not defeat Weng Kuiwu, it would be good enough if he could hold his ground!
Su Mo had a brief thought before he secretly reduced his strength. He was afraid that he would accidentally blow Weng Kuiwu to pieces!
Then, under the attention and eagerly gazes from the crowd, Su Mo struck with his fist.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.
