Chapter 165: Another Year of Martial Arts Competition
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
As the end of the year approached, Sunnywood City was bustling again, because it would be hosting the martial arts competition.
The competition was heatedly discussed in every tea house and tavern.
“I heard that the Su’s have already selected 10 disciples to compete this year!”
A couple of customers were chatting in a tavern.
“Yes! That’s including Su Yu, Su Tianhao, Su Hai, and Su Heng. The Su’s can’t be underestimated.”
“Neither can the Weis. I heard that their top genius, Wei Rufeng, has even improved his strength after his recovery!”
“Oh, and what about Su Mo? Won’t he be participating this time?”
“I heard that Su Mo has not returned yet. He might be killed out there!”
“Even if Su Mo did come back, he would not qualify for this martial arts competition. Although he won first place last year, the level of his Martial Soul is way too low. Besides, he showed no potential. It would be impressive if he had reached Lv 8 or Lv 9 Qi Cultivation Realm by now!”
As the conversation went on, Su Mo gradually became the topic.
…
“Rufeng, you’re strong enough to dominate the Sunnywood City martial arts competition tomorrow!”
In the Wei’s Hall, as Wei Rukong, the Wei’s master, said this, he smiled at his son, Wei Rufeng.
Wei Rufeng chuckled and said with a hateful look in his eyes, “Don’t worry, father! No one can get in my way this time!”
Wei Rufeng was extremely confident because of the miracle that he encountered. He had progressed to the Lv 2 Spiritual Martial Realm.
In Sunnywood City, no one in the younger generation could match him.
Wei Wankong nodded and scoffed, “Thank goodness that bastard Su Mo wasn’t too rough on you last year. He only cracked, rather than shattered, your Elixir Field. So you still were able to recover!”

Wei Rufeng’s eyes flashed with resentment as he gnashed his teeth and said, “I don’t know if Su Mo will return this year. If he does, I’ll make him beg for mercy!”
Wei Rufeng’s hatred toward Su Mo could never be erased.
Su Mo not only stole his championship last year, but also cracked his Elixir Field, causing him to live without any cultivation for a long time.
If the Weis had not spent a fortune to purchase a panacea from the Scorching Sun Sect, he would remain useless with a damaged Elixir Field.
Therefore, Su Mo was on Wei Rufeng’s kill list.
“Hehe! That bastard has to die, and all of the Sus should go to hell as well!”
Wei Wankong laughed coldly and said, “Rufeng, I didn’t tell you that I entered Lv 5 Spiritual Martial Realm. Even your grandfather broke into Lv 7 Spiritual Martial Realm two weeks ago!”
“Oh, really?”
Wei Rufeng was overjoyed.
Wei Wankong nodded and said with a smile, “After the martial arts competition, I’ll attack the Sus! The lawless era of the two families in Sunnywood City will be over!”
Wei Rufeng smiled and said, “Alright. After we defeat the Sus, I’ll torture them to death!”
Having been useless for some time, Wei Rufeng had developed a twisted personality, and it was his dream to put everyone in the Sus through hell.
“Oh, father, what about the Mansion of the City Governor?” Wei Rufeng asked after a while.
“Be confident in our current strength! The Mansion of the City Governor is not a concern.”
Wei Wankong chuckled and said, “As long as we destroy the Sus completely, even the Mansion of the City Governor will cower in the face of the Wei’s!”
“Hahaha…!”
Both the father and son burst into laughter.
…
The azure sky rested on top of the vast land.
Su Mo was sprinting rapidly on an ancient road.

Long-distance travel was great practice for Su Mo’s body movement.
Within just a few days, his Shadow Steps had matured and improved greatly.
He could see the tall city walls of Sunnywood City in the distance.
After a couple hours, he flashed through the city gate.
“Hey! Did you just see something?” a guard at the city gate asked another guard next to him.
“No! Why?” the other guard asked in confusion.
The first guard scratched his head and said, “That’s strange. I clearly just saw a gust of wind enter the gate. Was I dreaming?”
The guard looked extremely lost.
Su Mo walked along the streets until he reached the Su’s mansion.
“Young Master Su Mo is back!”
The guard greeted Su Mo in front of the mansion as soon as he saw him.
Ever since Su Mo had won first place in the Sunnywood City martial arts competition last year, he was no longer regarded as a failure, and no one dared to disrespect him despite his “weak Martial Soul”.
“Yes! Is father home?” asked Su Mo with a nod.
“Young Master, Master and a couple of elders are all at the Mansion of the City Governor,” the guard replied.
“Oh, what are they doing there?” Su Mo asked confusedly.
“The Sunnywood City martial arts competition will be held today,” answered the guard.
“The Sunnywood City martial arts competition?”
Su Mo was shocked, but then he realized that there were only two weeks before the end of the year, which was the time that the Sunnywood City martial arts competition would be held.
Su Mo chuckled dryly. He thought that he was too late and had not made it in time for the martial arts competition.
“Understood!”
Su Mo nodded and turned around to walk toward the Mansion of the City Governor.
“This is the Mansion of the City Governor, no civilians can enter!”
A couple of guards immediately barked the moment Su Mo approached the gate.
“Su Mo of the Su’s!”
Su Mo announced his name and dashed into the mansion.
“You…!”
A guard saw Su Mo enter the mansion and hurried to run after him, but was stopped by another guard, who said, “The young master of the Sus must be here to watch the martial arts competition. Let him in!”
Su Mo walked into the mansion and reached the martial practice field in no time.
The setup was the same as last year. The Mansion of the City Governor, the Su’s, and the Wei’s respectively had a spectator stand on each side.
There were also a lot of smaller families around the martial practice field.
In the middle of the field, there was a large fighting ring, where two people were currently battling.
One was Su Hai, and the other was Wei Rufeng.
Wei Rufeng was very powerful. He held his left hand behind his back and only fought with his right hand, which was still overpowering Su Hai.
Su Mo did not walk toward the Su’s spectator stand, but instead, stood at the periphery of the field.
“Wei Rufeng managed to recover his cultivation!”
Su Mo was shocked.
However, he soon remembered that last year he had only slightly cracked Wei Rufeng’s Elixir Field, so he must have it healed in the Scorching Sun Sect.
Su Mo watched the match patiently.
Wei Rufeng’s cultivation was at the Lv 2 Spiritual Martial Realm, while Su Hai’s cultivation was only at Lv 1 Spiritual Martial Realm. Apparently, Su Hai was no match for Wei Rufeng.
In the fighting ring, Wei Rufeng was simply toying with Su Hai.
Finally, after a dozen more moves, Wei Rufeng lost his patience.
“Su Hai, you can get out now!”
Wei Rufeng growled. He suddenly threw his palm forcefully toward Su Hai, causing his opponent to spit out blood and fly out of the fighting ring.
