Chapter 144: A Man’s Promise
Translator: Transn Editor: Transn
Su Mo left the outer square and went back to the courtyard of his abode, then entered into Li Feng’s room.
Li Feng laid on his bed and stared blindly at the ceiling, with tears rolling down his cheeks.
His cultivation had been destroyed; so had his arms and legs. Indeed, no one could have endured such an attack.
Niu Xiaohu and Zhou Xin were in front of Li Feng’s bed.
“Senior Brother Su Mo, hurry! Please say something to Senior Brother Li Feng!”
Noticing that Su Mo had returned, Niu Xiaohu said with a worried look, “Senior Brother Li Feng hasn’t spoken a word. I’m afraid he’ll do something stupid!”
“Hmm!”
Su Mo nodded his head with a gloomy look.
He walked towards Li Feng’s bed. He observed Li Feng’s despairing eyes and the tears flowing down his face.
The pressure was like a boulder pressing against his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.
This had happened all because of him.
“Li Feng, I’m sorry!”
Su Mo said in a husky voice, “It’s because of me that this happened!”
Li Feng kept quiet as if he had not heard him. He just kept staring blankly at the ceiling.
This made Su Mo feel even worse.
“Li Feng, I’ll cure you, I will!”
Su Mo raised his voice and said, “No matter what it takes, I’ll cure you!”
“No matter what it takes, I’ll cure you!”
Su Mo’s words echoed in the room.
Finally, Li Feng had a look of hope.
He gently turned his head toward Su Mo.
“Su Mo, don’t blame yourself, it’s not your fault! I don’t blame you!”
Li Feng sighed and said lightly, “Perhaps this is my fate!”

Li Feng’s gloomy face held none of its previous cheerfulness.
Su Mo sighed. He bent forward and grasped Li Feng’s shoulders.
“Brother, do you trust me?”
Su Mo looked at Li Feng with his eyes glistening.
“Yes, I trust you!”
Li Feng nodded his head affirmatively.
“If you trust me, then you have to cheer up. I give you my word, I’ll have you cured!” Su Mo said firmly.
After a pause, he continued, “If I could one day rule the world, I would make you the most powerful man in Skymoon Country!”
Su Mo made an important promise to Li Feng, a man’s promise!
Hearing this, Li Feng was silent for a while, then he nodded his head again.
“All right, Senior Brother Su Mo, I’m waiting for that day!”
Li Feng finally forced a smile.
Su Mo breathed a sigh of relief.
Nothing was more important than cheering Li Feng up.
A body could be cured but a heart could not. Hopelessness meant the end.
“I’ve killed the guy who hurt you!”
Su Mo’s face turned cold and said, “At the finals, I’ll kill all the Sky Alliance disciples I meet, including Nangong Linjue!”
His tone was callous and patronizing.
However, Li Feng, Niu Xiaohu and Zhou Xin believed in Su Mo.
For no particular reason, they just believed that Su Mo could do it.
Su Mo had surprised them time and again. They had been shocked by his strength every time.
The three of them were not sure how strong Su Mo actually was.
“Take care!”
Li Feng knew that he could not control Su Mo, so he just reminded him.
“Ok!”
Su Mo nodded his head.
Su Mo stayed in Li Feng’s room for a long time and didn’t leave until late in the evening.

Upon returning to his room, Su Mo immediately started to work on his cultivation.
Nine golden halos shone brightly as he released his Martial Soul.
With the Spiritual Qi from heaven and earth gathering together, he started his cultivation.
The activation of the cultivation method, “Primordial Qi Manual” could turn massive amounts of Spiritual Qi from heaven and earth into the Primordial Genuine Qi which would be absorbed into the elixir field.
Six Spiritual Spirals swirled slowly in Su Mo’s elixir field. A great amount of genuine Qi was contained in these Spirals.
The cultivation of the sixth Spiritual Spiral was quite tough and it took Su Mo two days to finish it.
If Su Mo’s body strength had not increased to that of a martial artist of Lv 6 Spiritual Martial Realm, he would not have succeeded.
Time passed very quickly while he cultivated.
The next thing he knew it was the following night.
The finals were about to begin.
Dong! Dong! Dong!
The melodious bell rang out.
This time, without his three friends, Su Mo went alone to the outer square.
It was more crowded and noisier in the outer square than it had been yesterday.
There were only five fighting rings left. The other five had been removed.
Su Mo arrived a little late. When he arrived, the Sky Alliance disciples, as well as some of the top ten disciples of Outer Gate, were already there.
The atmosphere today was quite different from yesterday. Everyone seemed set for a showdown.
Even Lu Shaoyun and some of the top 10 disciples had a dignified look.
The moment Su Mo stepped into the square, countless eyes full of killing intention were immediately upon him.
Needless to say, these people must have been from the Sky Alliance.
There was still some time before the finals.
Su Mo found a less crowded place and silently waited for finals.
“I wonder if there are any strong martial artists who will make it to the top 10.”
“It’s difficult! It’s not easy to defeat someone in the top 10. They are extremely powerful.”
“The lower ranking disciples with little progress might get replaced by others!”
“Will Su Mo make it to the top 10?”
Groups of Outer Disciples gathered together to discuss the finals and some even talked about Su Mo.
“Su Mo? I don’t think so. Although he is strong, his cultivation is only at Lv 5 Spiritual Martial Realm. He is unlikely to enter the top 10!”
“Hahaha! He is lucky enough if he can walk out the finals alive!”
“That’s right! What an audacious guy! He recklessly killed the disciples of the Sky Alliance, do you think they’ll let him off?”
Su Mo smiled coldly as he heard the discussions going on around him.
“Who’s not letting who off, it’s still an unknown!”
At this moment, a loud cry sounded.
“Oh! Look who’s there?”
The whole square suddenly went silent.
Everyone turned to look in the same direction.
Su Mo was puzzled and followed the gaze of the other spectators.
There was a pavilion on the peak of a mountain near the Outer Square.
A youth in a golden robe stood on the pavilion with his hands clasped behind his back. His head was slightly bowed as he looked out at the outer square.
The tall youth was good looking with an air of elegance that was unmatched.
It was Duan Jingtian. He was the core disciple and pride of Gale Island, one of the Four Talents of Skymoon Country, and leader of the Sky Alliance!
The whole outer square was filled with excitement.
“Duan Jingtian was here to watch the Outer Disciple Competition!”

But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
