HUNTED Chapter 223

Ajax kept his hands hovered above Aila, making sure she wouldn't fall forwards. She was like a doll, unable to hold herself up. He put her seatbelt on, hoping that it would be enough, for now anyway, until they got rid of the hunters.
"That's not going to be comfortable!" Finn snapped. But the sound of gunshots denting the car made them duck their heads and look outside the back window.
"We don't have much choice!" Ajax snapped back and pulled out the guns from Sariah's bag. "Finn, you can shoot, right?"
He nodded his head and accepted the handgun. Almost simultaneously, the pair rolled down their windows just as one of the cars came up to Finn's side of the car. Ajax leaned out of his window slightly and aimed at the other car's driver. He pressed the trigger finger a few times, his shot almost perfect, but the windscreen did not even break.
"They have bulletproof windows!" Ajax shouted out and ducked back inside after being reshot at.
"Aim at their wheels!" Sariah responded frantically before making a sharp right off the motorway.
She sped them past the traffic queued up at a red traffic light and barely made it through the small gap between a lorry turning into the road. She made a sharp right turn again, skidding across the street before straightening and accelerating again. Ajax whipped his head to the side and caught Aila before she flopped over and hit her head into the passenger seat.
The blanket fell down to her stomach, and Ajax paused again, his eyes wide at her injuries. In particular, there was a cut on her chest that made Ajax's jaw tighten and his eyes harden. He wrapped the blanket around her tightly and repositioned her again.

He grabbed the gun again that dropped to the floor and instantly let loose a bunch of shots, aiming at the hunter's car wheels. After three shots directly into the front wheel, he watched as the car suddenly went out of control and flew off the road. More gunshots could be heard, but it wasn't directed at them.
"Damon…" Aila croaked. Ajax turned back to her, but her eyes were still closed.
"Do you think she knows he is here?" Ajax asked. He knew how mate bond's worked, and the wolfsbane and silver blocked the pair from each other, but if they were at a close range, did they still miraculously know that they were nearby?
"I dunno, but we need to get rid of the last two cars.. Luckily, it doesn't look like Clint is with them.." Finn shouted over his shoulder. He was already leaning out of the window again, shooting at the other car that was closing in on them again.
"Get back in," Sariah grabbed at Finn's arm and yanked him back in. He looked at her confused, but she turned the steering wheel to the left abruptly and slammed into the hunter's car. They knocked into the front right corner of the vehicle with such force that the car went off the road straight into a tree.
[ Damon ]
Damon watched as the car at the front whizzed past an oncoming lorry. He swerved the car to the side, following the hunter's vehicles that also went onto the pavement, rounding the large vehicle. By now, Gabriel already had a gun out, his hand aiming out the side of the window as they caught up to the last car. He began shooting while Damon pushed down on the accelerator.
"Bulletproof.." The vampire murmured and redirected his aim at the car's wheels. Damon narrowed his eyes as he felt his mark burn. Aila was so close to him, they just needed to-

One of the cars ahead drove off the road and slammed into a tree. It spurred Damon on more, and he reached down into his lap for his own gun.
"Let's end this shit now," Darius roared in his mind. Damon held the gun against the steering wheel until they made it closer to the hunter's car in front. Their car started to overtake them to the point where Damon aimed his gun directly at the front passenger's head and shot him. The window was rolled down from them, shooting at the car Aila was in.
Damon didn't waste any time and shot the driver in the head, he slumped forward, and the car horn went off as the car slowed down and started to turn towards them. Damon slammed on the breaks, narrowly missing the car before turning back onto the right side of the road.
"It's just us now. Keep driving to Chester," Damon commanded through the mind-link to Finn and Kane. It seemed they didn't need Chase and the others in the end, but they served as good extra muscle.
He wanted so much to get them to stop at a petrol station or something so he could see Aila. Every fiber in his being was yearning for her. She was so close, only in the car ahead. But he wouldn't risk it; they needed to get away and back into the safety of the Vampire King's land. He was reluctant to keep using the vampire's protection, he didn't want to be in debt to anyone, but it was closer than Silver Thorn.
"You will not be in my debt. I am fond of Aila and Finn," Gabriel murmured as his gaze stayed locked on the car ahead. "I must warn you, Alpha.. I have checked the state Aila is in.. it might be a bit of a shock."
Damon glanced at the vampire's darkening gaze, and he felt a fire burning inside of him already at the rage trying to consume him. He took slow, deeps trying to calm down and the restless wolf inside of him.
"She was tortured.." Damon commented, his question turned into a statement, one Gabriel nodded his head to confirm. Why would they torture her if her blood was so valuable to them?
"It was Clint who took Aila.. Huh, there is a hunter with them… It looks like we keep taking in strays.." Damon frowned at Gabriel's remark, but he did not comment.
Darius' growl rumbled through Damon's chest, and his eyes shone at the intense pain he was starting to feel. When things were settled, he would find Clint and kill him.

Vincent Roy Salazar has never been your common folk. He climbed any mountain he found in front of him. From a bright young student to an accomplished professor, his life can be described as a continuous race to the top of his chosen fields. Patriarch of a loving family, proud father of three already grown siblings, Roy realizes that his life is the perfect picture of what the average man strives for, and for that he is truly grateful. But happiness is a difficult-to-reach goal, and as he lies in a pool of his own blood, his fist cracked, a young lady crying while cradling his head, he remembers what really gave sense to his youth. Pure Unadulterated Violence The Pugilist wants to be a different take on isekai shenanigans. What would happen if instead of a moronic idiot, a depressed high schooler, or a wannabe hero the one to get his do-over is a fully grown man that has already seen what life has to offer in full? Someone who conformed himself to society, but has always craved something different? In a journey of self-discovery, academy building, god-slaying, and absolutely no harem we follow someone driven by logic, experience, and a smokey goal: to fuck shit up, have fun while doing so, and maybe resume his career as a professor for those strange, magic-wielding, unstable youths that seems to never get enough of his presence. Guys, a few notes, first of all, this is my first time writing long-form fiction. I have a background in psychology, and my main income comes from writing dreary financial articles on SEO blogs. But after a bad break-up, and finding myself falling asleep only while thinking of deus ex machina for stories on this site (and for APGTE) I decided to try my hand at this web series thingy. I'm confident in my grammar, but that's it. Everything else will be a first time, and as such any constructive criticism is encouraged and gratefully accepted. Now, on the story. Romance will be introduced once my little heart is mended, if you are scared of LGBT you may be turned off by the fact that I plan to have no taboo of any kind in my universe, but I won't ever write detailed sex scenes for any characters so don't worry too much. The litRPG part is very light and will take place later in the novel, but it's a key component nonetheless, for world-building and storyline reasons. I already have everything big planned out, so I won't drop it outta nowhere, and I hope you won't find too many flaws in how things pan out. I plan to make The Pugilist an interactive story, with secondary characters created by my audience and introduced after tweaks and careful planning. The main reason I'm writing this is that I want to build a community for myself in this time of isolation. I discovered that exercising, playing the piano or video games means jack-shit when you are utterly miserable, so I hope to give some value to my readers in exchange for praise, fame, money, and companionship. I give full props to anyone who has read this whole mess of a synopsis: I hope to not disappoint too much, now let's write some more steaming garbage that will be in dire need of editing later on.

The Goddess of Death's Champion
Eliot and Cel start off the same as any other peasant and climb their way to the heavens. At least, that's what a cheesy hook might say, however, Eliot and Cel have always had the attention of the Gods, Eliot longer than Cel but by no God more important. Even if it is their destiny to achieve legend status, they started out some where, and with only the semblance of a head start, not to mention that it makes for an interesting story. (If you decided to read because of a specific tag, some of them only show up later on in the story. I should also mention that romance is a significant focus but there is no romance tag besides the one in genre)

Red Clay Technical Services: Mercenaries, Magicians, and Marketing
Bobby likes Pabst Blue Ribbon, NASCAR races, and throwing fireballs. A through and through Georgia boy, raised down in the sticks but now working with all things mystic. He is, in other words, a magician. Not just any magician- but one bound by the most egregious of terms: business contracts. See, a long time ago, Bobby got himself involved with a dragon whose business was making magicians, and Bobby wanted magic to be his business. Both of them having common interest, Bobby agreed to sign over his services in exchange for phenomenal (draconic) magic. A pretty awesome deal, right? The contract put him at the top percentage of human magicians, on top of having the backing of a dragon patron, and a fantastic set of benefits befitting an esteemed contractor, so it'd be smooth sailing from then on, right? Not so. That kind of power isn't granted without strings attached, and Bobby's practically bound up in them. Following the esoteric laws set forth by magicians , juggling them with the mortal interests he still has to abide by, and finding himself at the beck and call of a fickle and opaque patron makes his life as a magician a rollercoaster of ups and downs. But when his patron sets him on a strange task- with stranger company, no less, even Bobby has to question what his mission really is. Delving into fantastic crimes and cracking open mysteries is just the least he can do, and he'll do it with the help of his gun, his wand, and his trusted allies both large and small. --- Cover art is of the Georgia Guidestones.
