Alexander didn't say anything for a while before he finally moved to take look at his phone.

Yan Xiaoran wondered what was so interesting for him to look down on his phone when she was in front of him with a small child in her arms.

Little did she know, Alexander was looking at the calendar and was frowning at what he saw. The date told him that it was still the present but seeing the child that looked like she's between the age of one or two made him think otherwise.

After looking at the date, he finally raised his head up and calmly said, "It seems that my calendar is wrong.

Yan Xiaoran: "…"

What kind of situation was this?

Could it be that Alexander was assuming things?

Just as she was about to explain and tell him he got the wrong idea, she heard him say,

"It is alright. It is my fault I can't remember my two years' worth of memories."

Yan Xiaoran was speechless again.

The little girl was still playing with her hair; twirling it with her hands and putting it inside her mouth.

"Alexander it isn't what you think it is." She began to explain, "This child my sister."

Technically, Zhao Yurong was both her half-sister and stepsister. They shared the same mother but since Zhao Hanfeng was the child's father and turned out to be Yan Xiaoran's stepfather, they were also considered as stepsisters.

Originally, Yan Xiaoran thought that Alexander would feel relieved that the little girl wasn't a love child or wonder why Yan Xiaoran was with the little girl. But instead, Alexander had a crestfallen expression on his face as he stared at her with sad eyes.

What's wrong with him now?

"How?" When Yan Xiaoran was beginning to think that she said something wrong and that Alexander didn't want her to bring Yu Jin Yan's daughter with her, she heard him speak. "How did you get her? Your mother would rather die than hand over the child to you."

Yan Xiaoran walked up to him and sat down beside him. She tried to put down the child so she could properly speak with her husband without any distractions but it seems that the little girl was adamant about never leaving her side, causing Alexander to give it a long stare.

Sighing, Yan Xiaoran left the child alone and replied, "It seems that Zhao Shuxin's nanny left her behind in an orphanage a few days ago. It seems that Nanny Jang didn't want to stay with the Zhao family even if they miraculously survive this hurdle."

As for the reason why nanny Jang did this, Yan Xiaoran didn't have an inkling.

Nanny Jang has been the one looking after Zhao Shuxin since she was a child and was also tasked by the Zhao family to take care of Zhao Yurong. She's been with that abominable family for years, going through the same ups and downs. But mostly ups so there shouldn't be any reason for her to betray her masters. Yan Xiaoran couldn't help but feel that the old nanny was the same as any dog that bites the hands of its owner.

But to leave the child in an orphanage and ask for money after was something Yan Xiaoran didn't like.

Fortunately, she was able to come to the orphanage before the child was adopted by someone.

"I can't simply leave the child in that orphanage. That place looked too shady for a child to even stay there." Yan Xiaoran added after she told him the events that took place.

Alexander nodded his head and understood her completely. However, shady places like the orphanage were not rare in this rotten world. For as long as money and endless benefits kept on coming, anyone will do anything to get it.

Being the Underworld Boss, Alexander has seen places much worst than the orphanage but telling that story to Yan Xiaoran would only make her feel bad for those people who were trapped in that world.

He couldn't be blamed for not stopping or helping these people. If the world was so easy to clean out the evil and shady things that were happening every day, then everyone would be happy and living in peace.

But this was only a hopeful dream that will never happen even after centuries passed.

"Then, what do you want to do?" He asked her and reached to take the little girl's hand off Yan Xiaoran's chest and held it in his hand instead.

Yan Xiaoran said, "I don't know."

She looked down at the little girl who also looked up at the same time. The child's eyes were twinkling in joy and innocence that made Yan Xiaoran tap her finger on the child's small button nose.

The little girl was so cute and adorable but Yan Xiaoran still didn't know what she should do with her. It was a given that she should look after the child since they're sisters but was it proper for the person who took the child away from her mother to take care of her?

Having no answer to this matter, Yan Xiaoran fell into silence as she blankly stared at the child.

Seeing her being lost, Alexander decided to offer her a way out.

"If you'd ask me, it would be wonderful if she uses my last name instead of your mother's." He suddenly said.

Yan Xiaoran stared at him in shock. She didn't expect him to readily give a stranger his last name.

Even if the child was her blooded sister, the child also shared the blood of the people who made his wife suffer for years. It was definitely unlike him to offer this as he was the one who wanted to exterminate the whole Zhao family for her sake.

Besides, the little girl is her sister. If Alexander were to allow the child to have his last name, wouldn't that mean that he's going to act as her father now?

Seeing that she wasn't saying anything, Alexander's lips tugged upwards and added on, "Using your last name is also ideal but I still want her to use mine."
