In an instant, Zhao Shuxin and Yu Jin Yan were rendered helpless at the sudden appearance of the reporters at the doors of the police station.

The two high-ranking officer's efforts to hide and help them get away from this issue while brainstorming how they will get the Zhao family back to their previous prestige were now all crushed in a matter of an hour.

They didn't even get to wait until the sun peeked out from the mountain before everything before them crumbled beneath their feet.

"I can't do this anymore!" Constable Huo Yan suddenly said as he opened the door to the office.

"What are you doing? Are you out of your mind? Get back here!" Commissioner Li Wang told him as he smacked his palm on the surface of the desk before him.

However, Constable Huo Yan didn't want to listen to him anymore. "Sir, I can't be here anymore. Can't you see that things aren't in our hands anymore! The media will record everything if they get inside and they will never leave unless these two women stepped out to answer their questions!" He said. "I don't want to lose my position just because of a promotion that might never happen because the Zhao family can't afford it!"

Not waiting for the commissioner to stop him, Constable Huo Yan walked out of the room and closed the door behind him.

He was only persuaded by the commissioner to go along with him. Commissioner Li Wang promised that if the Zhao family survived this drought, they will reward them greatly and give him a promotion. But with what he could see right at that moment, the promised rewards he will get will never happen and the only thing he will receive after helping the Zhao family was a penalty and years behind the bars.

There are too many losses than the gain he will get from helping them. Huo Yan would rather stay out of trouble and keep his position. Besides, even if he was pointed at because he helped them, his punishment will be minimal since he only did it at the beginning.

They didn't expect his betrayal and didn't know what to do. With one less member in their group, the chances of getting away were almost at the lowest.

"That bastard! How dare he!" Zhao Shuxin shouted after Huo Yan's departure. She huffed on her ground and continued to screech, "I swear once the Zhao family returns, he will pay the price of betraying us! He will taste dirt and crawl on the ground with nothing but worms around him!"

"How could you just let him go?!" She instantly turned her attention to the commissioner who was still startled at the constable's betrayal.

Li Wang was now feeling regret for showing bravery and taking the patriarch of the Zhao family's request for him to help them. He could have simply ignored them and went along with his peaceful days but he was blinded with greed.

He thought that he could have something more if he helped the Zhao family get away with their crimes and blame it on someone else. The rewards he will surely get if he helped them were huge thus, blinding him some more.

However, things aren't doing so well for him.

He was starting to wish he had done the same as Huo Yan. And just when he lifted his feet to walk away, voices filled the hallways and in no time, several reporters made their way to the office.

Zhao Shuxin and Yu Jin Yan started to panic. They simultaneously moved towards the door to run before the reporters blocked the door.

But they were too late.

Standing in the middle of the hallway and in front of the office, Zhao Shuxin and Yu Jin Yan was trapped on both sides. The hallway was already filled with reporters ready to film them.

Sitting inside the car, Yan Xiaoran stared at the commotion happening in front of them.

After leaving the Zhao family's manor, she told Alexander to drive towards the station where her mother and Zhao Shuxin was trapped in. Zhang Shi additionally texted her after texting their location that he was really glad to be part of her plans and successfully guided the reporters to the office.

Several people carrying their cameras were swaying with the crowd as they pushed and pull just to get a statement at the three figures standing in the middle.

Like a trapped lamb in the middle of a pack of lions, Zhao Shuxin and Yu Jin Yan were being crowded by these reporters. There was also a man who stood beside them. It was the commissioner who tried to help them but got included in the media's ruthless method to humiliate people in the name of an interview.

"I wonder if they're feeling what I felt before." She suddenly said without aiming her question at anyone. She was talking about that time when she was arrested for attempted murder.

Alexander lifted his eyebrows. Without a word, he put his hand on top of her leg and squeeze reassuringly, "I'm sure they're feeling worse."

Then, he suddenly added, "Are you sure this is what you want? Sending them to prison seemed to be too good for them. Why don't I dispatch some men to permanently erase them from this world."

Yan Xiaoran stared at her in turn. She laughed like a child at his word. After laughing for a few seconds, she shook her and replied, "That's what I thought I wanted the first time. But thinking about it again. Letting them experience what I felt and suffered in all those years I stayed in prison would be better."

Closing the window beside her, Yan Xiaoran leaned against her seat and said, "Besides, I'm not done yet."
