While Zhao Shuxin was planning something to send Yan Xiaoran back to the prison with Lawyer Yu, there was another person who was anxious at the news of Yan Xiaoran's release.

Inside the mansion of the Zhao family, Yu Jinyan paced back and forth in her room.

She bit the nail in her thumb, her habit when she was thinking of something and troubled.

The release of Yan Xiaoran wasn't spread among the socialites and in the public but the news arrived in front of Yu Jinyan.

And the moment, she heard of this piece of news from a message she got from her assistant, she became restless and didn't stay in the arms of her sleeping husband.

How was it possible that the brat was released in just 3 years? Yu Jinyan thought. She bit her lips and kept pacing back and forth.

Three years ago, she did everything to put all the blame on her own daughter, Yan Xiaoran. And escaped without the fire touching her.

And because of that she's still the magnanimous and humble Madame Zhao. She could still enjoy the money that her husband, Zhao Hanfeng, the current Chairman of the Zhao Enterprise, sends to her bank accounts and live inside the huge and beautiful mansion of the Zhao family.

However, with Yan Xiaoran's release, Yu Jinyan's grandiose and perfect life might be at the risk of falling apart.

Knowing Yan Xiaoran, Yu Jinyan knew that her daughter wouldn't let things be after what happened to her and would strike back at her mother without remorse since she was the one who caused all of it.

She went to look at the caller ID and saw her step-daughter's name was the one calling her.

Hesitating a little bit, Yu Jinyan sighed before finally putting the phone near her ear and answered cheerfully, "Xin Xin. What made you call?"

Her tone sounded cheerful but Yu Jinyan's eyes didn't look one bit cheerful and were frowning with anxiousness and fear.

She didn't know what made Zhao Shuxin call her and was nervous that this has something to do with what she did 3 years ago.

Before her worries could get another notch higher, Zhao Shuxin calmly replied on the other side of the phone about another matter, "Mrs. Zhao. Is my father with you right now?"

"No. Your father's in his office right now and didn't want to be disturbed." Yu Jinyan looked toward the sleeping man on her bed and lied, "Do you want me to tell him that you want to talk to him?"

The relationship between the step-mother and daughter was never the best but both could pretend like they were fine talking with each other on the phone.

"Is that so…" Zhao Shuxin mumbled then, continued, "Then, can you come out of the room for a little bit? I need to speak to you without anyone around you."

Yu Jinyan frowned but still complied with her step-daughter's words and went out of the bedroom. She closed the door silently and stepped into the long corridors of the second floor of the mansion.

"I'm alone now. What is it?" Yu Jinyan softly asked. Her eyes scanned the corridor to see if anyone would come out and hear their conversation.

"Yan Xiaoran was released from prison yesterday." Zhao Shuxin said, "Were you aware of that?"

"What?!" Yu Jinyan felt her heart stuck in her throat as she pretended clueless about her own daughter's release.

"Ahh… And here I thought you already knew and had something to do with it." Zhao Shuxin mumbled, "Guess I'm wrong."

"What are you talking about? Wasn't that sl*t's sentenced to 10 years of life in prison? How could she be released so soon?" Yu Jinyan exclaimed in disbelief.

Her voice sounded so shocked that even Yu Jinyan was pleasantly surprised that her voice matched her words that no one would suspect her from lying.

Of course, this was her talent that she nurtured for years that even her real daughter didn't realize that her mother would be the reason why she was sent to prison.

She hated that Zhao Shuxin found out that she was the one who planned to kill her that night, three years ago and was so afraid that she begged mercy from her.

And unexpectedly, Zhao Shuxin forgave her but also threatened her that she will let everyone know that Yu Jinyan was the real suspect if she doesn't do what she orders.

Yu Jinyan agreed to her condition and let Zhao Shuxin order her around like a dog.

She didn't know why Zhao Shuxin forgave her crimes but she understood one thing, Zhao Shuxin has deep hatred toward Yan Xiaoran and even if she knew the truth, she wouldn't spare Yan Xiaoran and do everything she could to take her down.

The moment Yan Xiaoran was sent to prison and was accused of attempted murder, Yu Jinyan was the quickest to severe her blood ties to her real daughter and started to call her a sl*t and publicly refused to accept that she had a daughter who was evil enough to attempt to kill her step-sister.

She even became a witness at the court hearings after she was threatened by Zhao Shuxin. Yu Jinyan worked hard to seduce Master Zhao Hanfeng and became Mrs. Zhao. She wanted to live in gold and bathe in money but if Zhao Shuxin told the world about her insidious crime, her hard-earned luxurious life would fall apart.
