Loving A STRANGER Chapter 519

It was already past 10 am when Kylie woke up.
She searched one room after another, then realized Barbara went to catch Stephen along with Ethan.
She had a bad feeling.
If Stephen was hurt, nobody could cure Ethan. Besides, Ethan could be injured again during the arrest.
Right when she was restless, her phone rang.
"Kylie, be prepared. I'll treat Ethan's injuries," Stephen said on the phone.
"Stephen, are you alright?" Kylie asked without further thinking.
"Well, I thought you would ask me whether Ethan is fine," Stephen joked.
"Today is full of surprises. I bet Ethan will tell you when he's home later. And you should ask him the secret he's been hiding from you,"
Shocked by his words, Kylie said, "A secret?"
"Yeah, don't worry, as I said, I will not let him die," He hung up the call immediately.
Kylie didn't know what had happened, but she was happy that Stephen was willing to sure Ethan.
She turned to the doctor, who was responsible for Ethan's treatment.
The doctor was super excited once he knew Kylie got the help of the Ghost Doctor.
"Can I really work with the Ghost Doctor?" he asked again and again with obvious excitement on his face.
"Um, I'm afraid it's different from what you think." Kylie felt a little embarrassed. "We'll set a monitor on your chest, so the Ghost Doctor can see Ethan's injuries through it."
The doctor was disappointed that he couldn't meet the Ghost Doctor in person, but he still felt honored to be the Ghost Doctor's assistant.
"Can I know how the Ghost Doctor treat Mr. Parker?" The doctor flushed. "Well, Mrs. Parker, you know doctors are always searching for new knowledge."
Kylie smiled. "I can't promise. It depends on the Ghost Doctor. If he needs medicines to treat Ethan, you might have a look when you help him administer them to Ethan."

As long as he could check the medicines the Ghost Doctor used, it wasn't hard for him to find out formulas.
"Great, deal!" The doctor agreed with enthusiasm.
However, Stephen denied it when Kylie called him again. "It won't work. I must see his injuries with my own eyes."
Kylie remained silent. She made that arrangement for two reasons.
First, she didn't want Ethan to know it was Stephen who was going to treat him. Second, she was also worried that Stephen might hurt Ethan.
Stephen understood Kylie's worries. "Well, since you turn to me for help, you should trust me."
"I need to consider it." Kylie bit her lips, trying to figure out a perfect way to solve this problem.
"Call me when you have a decision," Stephen said and hung up. At the same time, Kylie heard the sound of a car engine outside the Finch family's house.
She thought Ethan was back, so went to welcome him in a hurry, but only saw Barbara getting off of a taxi.
"Mom!" Kylie walked over at once and paid the taxi driver.
The taxi driver got excited when he recognized Kylie.
"Miss Finch, can I take a photo with you? My daughter is your loyal fan!" he asked.
"Um, I'm wearing pajamas now. Can I only show my head in the photo?" Kylie said with a polite smile.
"No problem." The taxi driver handed his phone to Kylie and let her find the best angle herself.
Kylie lowered her body by the car window and took a photo with the taxi driver. It seemed she just got out of the car.
"Miss Finch, you're even more beautiful than your image on TV!" The taxi driver beamed, then drove away.
Kylie didn't walk into the house with Barbara until the taxi driver was gone. "Mom, why do you come home alone? Where is Ethan?"

"Call him now, and tell him I'm safe home." Barbara looked exhausted, sitting on the sofa.
Kylie called Ethan without delay. Knowing that Barbara was safe, Ethan took a long breath out. "Stay at home with our mother. I'll be back in a minute."
"Great." Kylie suddenly thought of what Stephen had told her on the phone and asked Barbara. "Mom, did you meet Stephen?"
"Yeah," Barbara sighed. "It's all my fault."
In the following minutes, no matter how Kylie asked her, Barbara wouldn't say another word.
When Ethan showed up, Barbara stood up from the sofa. "Ethan, I'm sorry."
Ethan shook his hand and told Barbara to be seated.
Kylie was confused, but neither of them explained it. She glanced at Barbara, then, Ethan. "Well, I think I should leave now."
They probably wanted to have a private talk.
Nevertheless, Barbara stopped her. "Stay here; we're a family after all." Kylie glanced at Ethan, then sat back next to Barbara, seeing he showed no rejection.
Barbara was silent for a while before she looked at Ethan. "Ethan, what I said today is true. Stephen is really your twin brother."
"What?" Kylie blurted it out in shock.
It must be the surprise Stephen had mentioned on the phone. "Mother, do you mean Ethan and Stephen are twin brothers?" Kylie couldn't believe her ears. "Why was he raised in the Cecil family?"
Barbara began to tell the story of that year.
The woman who raised Stephen actually was Barbara's maid. They were at a similar age and were very close to each other.
The maid had watched the whole process of Barbara and Adolph's love.
After knowing that Barbara was locked in the Cecil family's house, she did everything she could but still failed to help Barbara out.
Barbara contacted her once she escaped from the Cecil family's house.
The maid was worried that old Mr. Parker only loved Barbara's beauty and didn't care about her children, so they made a decision and let the maid take one baby away once Barbara's children were born.
If old Mr. Parker treated Barbara's child very well, they would bring another one back.
Therefore, Barbara had kept it a secret from old Mr. Parker that she was carrying twins.
On the day of delivery, the first boy was carried out in a nurse's arms to show old Mr. Parker, while the maid took the second boy away.
Barbara cried when her second son was about to leave her and used a scalpel to cut the little baby's sole as a mark.
It was universally acknowledged that old Mr. Parker cared about Ethan very much, so Barbara planned to bring her another kid back. Unfortunately, Ethan was lost after the travel in Thailand a short time later.
Barbara almost went crazy, and the maid secretly comforted her. She told Barbara that she knew old Mr. Parker wasn't reliable, and luckily they had hidden another kid.
However, it was hard for a woman to raise a kid alone, even though Barbara gave her enough money.
Besides, Barbara still loved Adolph.
In that case, she thought it would be better if she and Adolph's kid could go back to Adolph's side. An adopted son was better than a stranger, after all.
To her surprise, Stephen wasn't raised well at all in the Cecil family. Especially when the maid died in torture, Stephen hated Adolph to death.
"Ethan." Barbara held Ethan's hand. "No matter what he has done, he's your younger brother. Please forgive him for the sake of me."
Ethan raised his head at a slow pace and met Kylie's eyes. "He's entangled with my wife, and do you ask me to forgive him for that as well?"

Schooling at a top culinary academy in the capital. An honorable position as heir to House Boulier, a line of merchant-lords who have charmed the rich and powerful with their cooking for centuries. And in a single night, it all burned to ash. When the outbreak of war destroys his hometown, Charles is charged with escorting his family’s sacred treasure—a recipe book passed down for untold generations—out of harm's way. But his simple mission grows complicated when he’s captured by one of the most feared battalions in the world: the Spears of Mercy. Life as a prisoner in their war camp is brutal and uncertain. Charles has few allies and even fewer strengths to rely on. Only his skills in the culinary arts, honed over a lifetime in the kitchen, are deemed useful enough to keep him alive another day. But he’s not out of hope just yet. With a dash of wit, a pinch of luck, and some very creative cooking, he might just find a way to recover his family’s legacy and take back his freedom. This project is a food-themed fantasy that centers on cooking and chefs. The setting spans a wide world featuring ingredients/recipes both real and inspired by traditional fantasy. I'll eventually be publishing it as a full-length novel (or series of novels depending on length). These are the first draft chapters. I'll likely be re-writing more than once, then editing before publishing, so impressions and feedback are quite welcome. If you like the story so far and you're interested in being an early reviewer for the final product, feel free to message me. I'm looking for an artist to make some concept art and a cover (the cover shown here is just a temporary placeholder). A stand-alone novel for now, but it may turn into a series down the road.
