Loving A STRANGER Chapter 514

Adolph felt a little embarrassed, then admitted it. "Since you already know it, let's put the cards on the table. Ethan is your older brother..."
Before he could finish, Stephen lifted a finger up to stop him. The housekeeper also walked over to take Stephen's wine glass.
"I don't have an older brother." Stephen stood up. "You," he turned to point at Agnes, "and you are not qualified to be my parents."
Agnes lowered her head all the time, standing aside, but her body shook in fear when Stephen mentioned her. She knew that Stephen was in great anger towards her and didn't treat her as a different person. Stephen stayed beside them to take revenge.
Adolph glanced at her, then stared at Stephen. "We raised you up during the past ten years, and now you're telling me we're not qualified to be your parents? You're an ungrateful person I've ever known."
Saying that, he raised his hand, trying to slap Stephen, but a strong palm stopped him.
The smile faded away from Stephen's face. "Do you know why I let you come here?"
Adolph was struck dumb for a second and found Agnes shaking harder. What was worse, a stinky liquid flew down by her legs, and they soon smelt urine.
Before he could snap at Agnes, he heard Stephen's gentle and scary voice again.
"Tomorrow is the anniversary of my mother's death, and I want both of you to make it up to my mother before her grave."
Agnes was frightened and collapsed to the ground. She subconsciously covered her waist at the same time.
Do I have to return these two kidneys?
Adolph didn't expect Stephen would lock him up. He walked leftwards and rightwards in anxiety. Hearing Agnes crying, he lost patience and shouted at her. "Stop it! Why didn't you tell me about his plan?"

Agnes's eyes were swollen now. "I-I didn't know what I was doing. I lose control of myself sometimes."
Adolph sighed. He closed his eyes, leaning on the wall, trying to figure out a way to solve this problem.
Agnes stopped crying later, then approached Adolph. "Can you contact Barbara? She could think of a way to help you out!"
Agnes believed Ethan wouldn't stand aside.
Even though Ethan refused to call Adolph his father ever since he had found out Adolph was his biological father, Barbara still held deep love towards Adolph.
If Barbara turned to Ethan for help, Ethan wouldn't turn his mother down. Agnes knew how deep Ethan's love for his mom.
Adolph opened his eyes and stared at Agnes. "Do you know what you just said?"
Agnes felt embarrassed. "I know."
"How dare you tell me to contact Barbara?" Adolph turned his head away with disdain. "If she knows you're here, she'll hope you can die soon."
"I..." Agnes was mad. "It's you who has locked her up and tortured her, not me! I married you only for the sake of our families' relationship."
"Also, we don't have a marriage license at all even though we've shown up in public places as a couple during the past years!"
After that, Agnes dropped several tears on purpose. "Is she aggrieved? I feel aggrieved too!"
Adolph turned to look at Agnes again. He felt he owed her a lot too. Every time he had an attack of the illness, he would mistake Agnes for Barbara. Although they did have made love together, he had been very violent.
"Alright! You are sisters after all, and she won't abandon you," Adolph said, then called Barbara. Once Barbara answered his call, she asked, "How is it? Does Stephen agree?"

Adolph sighed. "He doesn't and even locks Agnes and me up."
Hearing Agnes's name, Barbara got nervous.
She squeezed the phone in her hand. "A-Are you alright?"
"Hard to say," Adolph said. "He's going to take us to visit his mother's grave tomorrow."
At this moment, Agnes grabbed his phone away and whimpered, "Barbara? It's me. I'm Agnes!"
Barbara felt like crying. "Agnes..."
"Help us out! Please." Agnes cried out loud. "Stephen is going to kill us for his mother! If you don't want to rescue me, I understand, but you must save Adolph's life!"
Adolph hated hearing Agnes crying, and he tried to grab his phone back, but Agnes avoided him.
"Adolph only loves you. I mean it! We just lived under the same roof during the past years, and he even refused to marry me. Barbara, please, I'm begging you. Save Adolph's life."
Adolph managed to grab his phone back at the end. "Barbara, don't listen to her. She doesn't know what she's talking about! Although Stephen hates me, he won't kill me. Agnes and I will apologize to his mother tomorrow. Everything will be fine, and I promise I'll figure out a way to persuade him to cure Ethan."
"Adolph, be honest with me. Did you marry Agnes or not?" Barbara was in shock.
Adolph licked his lips and felt a little shy. "I didn't. You escaped on our wedding day, so I let Agnes replace you to welcome those guests. We even didn't finish the ceremony..."
All of a sudden, the line was cut off. Adolph shook his phone and said again, "Hello? Barbara? Can you hear me?"
Agnes was also struck dumb. Even if the signals were weak here, the line wouldn't be suddenly cut off.
Adolph, instead, realized it was just a trap.
"Stephen! You're an asshole!" he shouted in anger.
Stephen limited his freedom and searched around his body, but left his phone.
It was because Stephen waited for Adolph to ask someone for help.
In other words, Stephen used Adolph to force Ethan to show up in order to achieve his evil purpose.
Adolph's phone hit the metal door with great force with a loud sound and broke into pieces. Adolph got tired and leaned on the wall to catch his breath.
He came here to rescue Ethan but did the opposite thing because he was too careless.
For now, he could only pray Barbara wouldn't turn to Ethan for help.
If she did, he hoped Ethan wouldn't show up at all!

With so many stories on the internet right now, It's almost impossible if not outright impossible to make an original MC. The best I can do is pick the kind of cliched MC I like the most and give it a twist of my own. English is not my first language, so there will be some mistakes in every chapter. Please notify me in the comment if you found one (Or some). I'm still an inexperienced writer, so feedbacks and reviews are very much appreciated.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.

And it ended thusly just aswell, t'was the great Empire's deathknell. The crackling of the burning books, dangling corpses on rusty hooks. The yellow streets of Heabury proper, colored red with human copper. -? S.V, Scholar of Dawn.' -- Author note: Hi, SeV here. I'm not a fan of writing my entire story premise in the synopsis. For that, read the prologue and chapter 1. Suffice it to say that I think it's a cool idea and I already have a few things planned and a world sort of formed in my mind. I like Epic fantasy, lightnovels with OP MCs, Litrpg, sci-fi, any many other things. This story is written for myself, so it may include all sorts of diffent elements and character interactions and even experimental things that I'm trying out as a writer in order to improve. My intention with this is to pretty much post as I write, and acquire feedback from you folks in the process. I of course hope you like my story, but feel free to criticize anything since this is a project to improve myself. Even if it isn't strictly criticism, any feedback positive or negative is welcome since I am interested in what other people think of my writing style and what I can improve on. Since it's growing generically I'll be interested in your thoughts and speculations on future events and any suggestions moving forward will be taken into consideration. Hope you enjoy my stuff. - SeV
