Loving A STRANGER Chapter 327

"Been a while, and your temper is getting worse!" Dinah laughed, sitting by his side.
Stephen didn't say a word but opened a bottle of beer for her.
"To celebrate that you're dumped!" Dinah said, then drank up half of the bottle at a time.
Stephen gave her a glance and poured the beer into his mouth too.
He wasn't very good at drinking, and seldom drank, so he was getting drunk now after drinking a lot in a short time.
Dinah cocked her head. "Kylie is exactly Kylie. Why didn't I realize it before!"
Hearing Kylie's name, Stephen's look became gentle within a second but soon turned sharp.
He pulled a corner of his lips with disdain. "So what?"
"So, I can help you!" Dinah moved nearer to his side, approaching his ear. "I can help you forget her."
Dinah laughed, then drank up the rest half of the bottle in her hand before opening another one.
"I think it's quicker to hypnotize yourself than her." Dinah clinked her bottle against Stephen's in the air to tell him to have a drink, but Stephen sat there expressionless. It seemed he was thinking about Dinah's advice she just had proposed.
Dinah added, "You know it more clearly than anyone else that how much Ethan and Kylie love each other. It's impossible that you can set them apart." Hearing her last sentence, Stephen smirked. He turned to look at her and said, "You're persuading me to accept the challenge."
"I'm persuading you to find a better way!" Dinah had a drink of beer, then stared at Stephen. "How about me?"
Before Stephen could answer the question, his phone rang. He gave it a sidelong glance and noticed the caller was his housekeeper.
"I need to take this." Stephen instantly walked to a relatively quiet place to answer the call.
"What?"
"Lord Stephen, I just checked the hotel monitors, and Kylie followed you out. I think she..."

"I knew it," Stephen said lightly.
"You knew it?"
"She wanted to surprise me, and I found she was hiding in my car when I was halfway."
The housekeeper was relieved. "Are you with her right now?"
"Yes, we're drinking in a bar and will be late home. You don't need to wait for us." After hanging up, Stephen pinched the middle of his eyebrows before he went back to his seat.
Dinah already filled two glasses with beer. "What? You have to lie for her?"
Stephen gave her a cold glance. "How do you know that?"
"Then why are you here drinking alone?" Dinah had a mouthful of her beer, then gave him a hint to join her.
Probably because Dinah hit the point, Stephen seemed heart-broken and drank up the glass of beer Dinah poured for him.
However, Stephen soon felt something was wrong.
He shook his head with great force but still couldn't see anything clear before his eyes.
"Are you drunk?" Dinah waved her hand before his eyes. "Let me send you back."
"I can't." Stephen almost couldn't finish a sentence smoothly, but he still tried to fill the glass with beer for himself. Dinah stopped him at once.
"I can send you to wait for Kylie at the door of the hotel. If she's back, you can see her for the first time."
Stephen thought it was reasonable, but he barely could stand on his feet, so Dinah came to support his body.
"Well, don't drink that much the next time, you know you're not good at it." Saying that Dinah supported him walking outside. When they walked by the bar counter, she threw a roll of bills to the bar owner.
"Bye. See you!" Seeing the thick roll of bills, the bar owner beamed.
Dinah helped him buckle the safety belt, then sat to the driver's seat. Seeing the man lost the ability to move, Dinah wore a happy smile, then drove the car away.

Before long, they arrived. Dinah stopped the car at the least noticeable parking spot before Empire Hotel, but they were still able to see its front door by a glance.
Dinah shook Stephen's body, but he was too drunk to give her a reaction.

In the intensive care unit.
Ethan was seriously injured, and he hadn't had any sleep for the past days and nights for the purpose of searching for Kylie.
The reason he could wake up was all because of his determination.
Therefore, he seemed exhausted after talking with Kylie for a short while, but he refused to fall asleep.
Kylie saw it clearly, so she kissed Ethan's eyes and comforted him gently. "Have some sleep, and I promise you can still see me when you wake up again." Ethan was forced to close his eyes, and it was harder for him to behave against his sleepiness. "If you dare cheat me..." the man threatened.
"Then I'm all yours," Kylie said with laughter in her voice, which calmed the man down.
Within seconds, Kylie heard his stable breath. She looked at the electro-cardioscope monitor, and the man's heart rate finally went back to normal.
However, when she just stood up, she found her hand was still firmly caught in the man's hand.
Even if he was asleep now, it was difficult to get rid of his fingers.
What should she do now?
If she didn't go back right away, she could be discovered by Stephen, and it would be hard for her to find out the truth then.
Kylie suddenly had an idea and used an empty bottle to replace her hand.
She swung her numb hand that had been caught by the man for a long time, then opened the intensive care unit door.
"Hey!" She called for Fannie's attention.
Fannie immediately put Nate on the chair. "How is it? Is Lord Ethan awake?"
"Yes, but he's asleep now. I must go back right away." Kylie put on her hat. "Don't let anyone else know that I've come here, especially him."
Nate cherished their friendship so much. If he found out Kylie was back to Lord Ethan's side, he would definitely change his attitude towards Kylie, which could arouse Stephen's suspicion.
"Don't worry. Even if Lord Ethan asks me, I won't tell him anything."
"Great!" Kylie hugged Fannie, then walked fast to the elevator.
When she was back in the Empire Hotel, it was almost daybreak. Dinah noticed Kylie by a quick glance, then left the car running to her.
"What!" Kylie was scared when someone patted her shoulder from her back.
"Why are you home so late?" Dinah was a little annoyed. "Come and help me move him back."
Kylie followed her to the car, then saw Stephen sleeping inside. "Did you drug him?" "How do you know that?" Dinah was surprised.
Kylie laughed, "His vigilance won't allow him to sleep so sound."
After that, they supported Stephen's body by his sides back to his house.
"Lord Stephen?" The housekeeper walked to them when he heard some noise.
"We met Dinah, and we drank a lot together," Kylie explained.
The housekeeper seemed displeased. Dinah immediately added, "Don't worry. He'll be fine tomorrow after a good sleep."
"Please prepare a guest room for Dinah. It's too late now, and she'll stay here tonight," Kylie said to the housekeeper.
"No problem." Seeing Kylie carefully helping Stephen drink some water and wiping his face, the housekeeper was satisfied and walked away.
When the housekeeper was absent, Kylie winked at Dinah.
"He's yours tonight!"

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
