New Life : A Second Chance Chapter 769

"Miss Lianne, if you please," Beatrice called out gently, indicating a fingerprint scanner that she had taken out.
Lianne, who's curiosity was at its peak, placed her finger on the scanner while Beatrice started clicking on the keyboard, her eyes glued to the computer screen.
"All ten fingers, please," Beatrice instructed and Lianne did as she was told.
While Beatrice was busy doing that, she asked, "Who are the ones that Kay called for?"
Then, she quickly added, "If that's okay for me to ask, of course."
"It's no secret," Beatrice assured her, "It's just Ms. Kay's Team. Something like Sir's Team."
Lianne was surprised, then thought she shouldn't be.
Mama's life was certainly getting more and more interesting. She wanted to know more about this Team of theirs, but who could she ask?
Mama wasn't around and Kay would be busy. Lianne wasn't the type to gossip or dig for information, so she decided to just wait until they went home before she asked Kay.
After Beatrice was done, she told Lianne that she could now use the VIP lift and was allowed entry without needing to make an appointment. Just leave her name at the reception desk below and go up.
"I'll get your security clearance pass ready," Beatrice continued to explain, "Keep that with you while being in the Smith Industries. It also works as a cash card, so you can use it to buy food in the cafeteria below."
Lianne nodded.
"Is the entire floor the CEO's floor?" Lianne asked curiously.
There didn't seem to be a lot of people on this floor, and it appeared to be more like a hotel lounge rather than an office. There was a reception desk, lots of nice-looking sofas for people waiting.

It actually reminded her of that show, 'Suits'… but with less people and more fancy looking furniture.
"Yes," Beatrice replied.
"Can I explore this floor then?" Lianne asked politely.
"Of course," Beatrice replied, "Once the card is ready, I'll let you know and you can go about the other areas in the building."
"Okay," Lianne agreed.
They exchanged numbers and then Lianne went into the CEO's room after knocking on the door.
As Lianne entered, Kay asked her, "What do you want to do here? Just observe?"
"Explore, I suppose," Lianne said.
Though she generally did not like to interact and be in crowds, her curiosity overrode her usual social distancing issues. It wasn't too bad in the building either, since people were here to work and not mingle around.
Just then, Beatrice's voice came over the intercom, "Ms. Kay, they're here."
"Send them in," Kay instructed then looked at Lianne with a smile.
"You should meet them as well," she said.
"Who are they?" Lianne asked.
"My Team," Kay explained, "Like how Zero and the others are to Kyle, this Team is to me."
Kyle's Team was initially for them when they were growing up but essentially, they were to help the CEO i.e. Kyle. Kay needed her own team as well. In preparation for that, Kyle had created a new team for Kay, coincidentally, a year before his sudden departure to Country M.
His plans was pushed forward and her team had to be pushed into the deep waters as well when he left. The training was put upon the shoulders of Kyle's team that he left behind.
Kyle's Team were not happy, to be honest.
They had always been the Smith Twins Elite Team and to know that they were going to split up made them unhappy. It was bad enough that they couldn't follow him, but now, they had to 'give Kay up' to another.

However, they respected Kyle's decision and followed the orders. Deep down, they also knew it was for the best, but it didn't mean that they could be happy about it.
Kay gestured to Lianne to stand beside her as her team entered.
She saw that it was a group of four people. Two girls and two guys. Unlike Kyle's team that was always in suits, this group was not as synchronised.
Kay guessed what was going on in Lianne's mind and she said, "Kyle's team was created when we were kids, whereas mine is relatively new. So they're not as stoic as Kyle's team."
Or as deathly loyal.
Not to say that Kay's team wasn't loyal, but the level that Kyle's team was at, was not something that could be copied. In fact, Kay could confidently say that every single person in Kyle's team had crazy loyalty to them, whereas for her team?
They were capable and loyal, but only the leader was truly at the same level of loyalty as Kyle's team. Kay didn't mind, though, as it was enough. Unknown to them, Kyle's team also monitored Kay's team, by working together with Kay's leader.
Her team came in and greeted Kay politely and respectfully, while Kay smiled and nodded to them.
She gestured towards Lianne and said, "This is Lianne Yang, one of the children that Kyle has decided to sponsor. She and her brother Joseph will have a status higher than Dahlia."
Lianne noted the curious glances that fell upon her, but she ignored them just like how she did when she noticed them from everyone at the lower floors.
"Lianne, this is Agent Milk, the leader of my team," Kay said, "Then, we have Milo, Coffee and Tea."
Lianne blinked.
She turned towards Kay, "Seriously?"
"Seriously," Kay replied with a straight face.
Turns out, her rather bad naming sense became a trend amongst MIB.
"Of course, those are only their codenames," Kay replied, "I don't use them nor refer to them as such here. When they are undercover, then those are the codenames that are being used."
Kay's team was flabbergasted and listened to everything in shock.
The way Kay revealed their codenames to Lianne meant that her security level clearance was high.
But she was just a kid!
Who was she, really??

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.

The Last Death Mage
Since time immemorial humanity has always feared and shunned what it didn’t understand. Over time this changed a bit to encompass things that didn’t conform to their thoughts and ideals. Due to humanity’s stubbornness with which the enforced their ideals many lives were lost and changed. When humanity first clashed with monsters and the beings that use magic, this trait caused many bloody fights. Over time the fights escalated into battles and full on war on several occasions. Humanity due to their adaptability and persistence won many of these altercations, causing huge casualties to the magical beings. Humanity did not come out unscathed however; many of the empires and civilizations noted in human history fell due to these battles and wars. Eventually over time humanity and the magical beings came to a sort of agreement. Magic and the beings associated with it faded into the background of history, being relegated to myth and legend. Humanity meanwhile advanced leaps and bounds once magic faded, leading to our current level of civilization. Not all magical beings were content with this, thus they did their own actions and killed or fed on humans. This has led to many organizations to be formed concerning this, on both the side of humanity and the side of magical beings. They regulate and control the use of magic as well as protect humanity from the darker things that are now not but myth to them, but there is a reason humanity instinctually fears the dark. Unfortunately there are always those that are unsatisfied by the status quo, and those that are prejudiced against things that are different. This is a story of a young man who wanted nothing more than to be normal. Unfortunately Fate and the world he lives in do not easily allow that this, thus his life changed, not for the better. Everyone has heard of or read stories about monsters and legends, heroes and villains, this is one such story. Hi, this is my second attempt at a story here, the first was before the major overhaul happened and i lost everything related to that story due to PC troubles. I hope you enjoy this if you dont please leave some constructive criticism in the comments. An Editor and the like will be needed, but I will edit as problems are pointed out and as i proof read. This story will have no set schedule, unless of course I decide to type up a bunch in succession then i will note that in a chapter beforehand. ADDED NOTE: most sexual content will be in Interludes or sub chapters with a .5 attached. Profanity and gore however shall be plenty in the actual story, though the descriptives for the gore may be added later. (For example, in the prologue that gave a hint at what happened to the MC, will be enhanced so that the gore invokes more descriptive/complete mental pictures, though it may wait.) ~Tyroth Gideon
