Primordial Dimensions Chapter 60

Shane slashed at the roaring breezy scaled lizard in front of him, as he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.
Jumping on the peak wild stage breezy scaled lizard with his dagger thrusted forward, Shane barely avoided the earth spikes and fireballs targeting his previous location by a hair's breadth.
The dagger pierced into the breezy scaled lizard, drenching in its blood, and killed the scaled lizard without further ado, as Shane landed on the ground.
He struggled to jump up from his position while pulling his dagger out of the breezy scaled lizard's chest forcefully when another bunch of elemental attacks was shot towards him.
Umbra was barely able to hold onto Shane who kept jumping and moving around to evade as well as to attack. He rolled to the side with a firm grip on his dagger, before it was almost flattened to the ground.
Umbra hated these battles and was visibly frustrated but Shane couldn't care less about Umbra's emotions because for now, he had to survive.
Jumping up after evading the elemental attacks with a few jumps and rolls, Shane noticed the arrival of the purple-furred wolves that attacked the distracted bunch of scaled lizards.
Initially, he didn't want to help the purple-furred wolves, but if he wanted to achieve his goal, it was the only way forward.
As such, the distraction he had created should have been enough to turn the tide to a certain degree, as the ratio between wolves and lizards seemed to be balanced.
Each beast seemed to have sustained at least multiple minor injuries with a few serious ones, causing Shane to smile brightly as he backed off from the fighting beasts once again.
Right now, he would only have to wait for the battle to end in order to finish off the glorious survivors of the large skirmish in front of him.
Some would say it was cruel, but Shane knew that these beasts would most likely attack him too once they noticed him solely because of their wild instincts.
Life was cruel and mankind had suffered many times after showing mercy to `cute` and `defenseless` beasts they had spared, only to be attacked by them later.
Learning about the level of cruelty that could be exhibited by humans and beasts alike from a young age, Shane knew what to do.

In the end, Shane decided he would only trust himself, his tamed beasts, and maybe his family to a certain degree, with the exception of his dad.
Shane was more than a little bit suspicious of the system as well and trusting it was not something he would ever do.
However, unfortunately, the only thing Shane could do right now was to rely on the system, as every being did, which he would rather not do.
Since the day Shane had transmigrated from earth, he would always ask himself why nobody questioned the system. But, he found out why, only when he awakened the system..
Everyone had to rely on it and it helped everyone become stronger.
Until now, there was no news about the system itself eradicating or manipulating races or something similar. The only "bad" thing it had caused was the disaster on Igra. But, in a way humanity itself had brought it down upon them, due to their negligence of the world protection program.
Due to mankind's negligence, they had been careless about the world protection extension and ignored everything that could have strengthened them.
In the end, the system wasn't per se at fault and human curiosity had made them join the "conquest".
Nobody knew what exactly the Primordial Dimensions were or where they came from.
More important, however, was the question of who had created these Dimensions which hundreds of thousands of races used and exploited for their benefits.
Maybe Shane was thinking too much about the system, but the minuscule white strand in his mind, representing the system, was the only thing that he truly feared since he had transmigrated.
Not even his father had been capable of igniting such fear within him.
Could it control him or was there a more important usage? Did everyone have such a minuscule white strand in their mind and were some races controlled by it?
Was Shane even himself or was he already manipulated by the system?
Each of these thoughts scared him and he could only hope that some of his theories were wrong. He told himself that he shouldn't place his complete trust in anyone out there, because he wasn't sure if anyone was trustworthy.
Shaking his head, Shane saw that only three scaled lizards were left alive while five seriously injured purple furred wolves stood in front of them.

Crouching down, Shane tried to find a good opening spot in the battlefield to backstab the purple-furred wolves. One of the elite stage fiery scaled lizards used the remaining mana within it to generate a head-sized fireball with a searing heat to throw it at the bunch of wolves that stood close to each other.
The outer purple furred wolves tried to evade the incoming fireball by jumping to the side, but the last two remaining earthy scaled lizards had also released their last mana reserves in order to create two earth walls on either side of the purple furred wolves, effectively trapping them.
Shane was astonished to see the scene unfold in front of him. He could have never imagined that the remaining three scaled lizards were able to use such crude yet efficient tactics. The head-sized fireball exploded in between the two earth walls right in the middle of the purple furred wolves that tried to weaken the fireball with lightning currents.
Unfortunately, their efforts were futile and the fireball exploded with a loud crack, burning the purple furred wolves, killing two in an instant.
The remaining three injured wolves were the furthest from the explosion but even they had to endure the searing heat that burned their fur and skin.
With that in mind, Shane's gaze returned back to the scaled lizards/ His assumptions had been correct because the lizards had collapsed to the ground after overusing their mana.
Furthermore, adding the serious injuries to their exhaustion made it clear that it was only a matter of time until they would die.
With three seriously injured purple furred wolves left behind, Shane's opportunity had finally arrived.
He had still more than half of his mana left. After circulating it through his whole body he exerted his full physical strength of a 7th Mortal stage before his steps accelerated.
The distance between him and the three injured purple furred wolves was more than forty meters and he would need some time to reach them, but this was less of a problem.
Knowing he would be noticed before, Shane made himself ready to fight the two heavily injured elite stage beasts in addition to a peak wild stage purple furred wolf that had sustained equally heavy injuries.
Ignoring the wild stage wolf, Shane focused on the Elite stage wolves. He estimated that their combat prowess was most likely reduced to the later wild stage or the peak wild stage at the most.
Umbra was extremely frustrated and shot multiple small shadow needles, trying to attack the injured wild stage purple furred wolf as its only feasible target.
Crossing the distance between them, Shane ignored the injured wild stage wolf before thrusting his dagger at the closest elite stage wolf.
The purple-furred wolf tried to bite Shane in an attempt to tear out his flesh. He noticed that the purple furred wolf was still slightly faster than him which caused him to abandon his straightforward attack, as he leaned even further forward in order to avoid a claw ripping open his chest.
Shane's body was extremely close to the ground and the two elite stage beasts were faster than him, even though it was only by a marginal amount. Shane took out his [Mortal-(Uncommon)] sparky dagger that he hadn't used for a long time and threw it straight towards the furthest purple furred elite wolf that charged towards him and its comrade.
As he slashed out with the shiolite dagger, Shane noticed that his reflexes were slightly better than the purple-furred wolves.
Once again, he used a feint with another straight dagger thrust and jumped to the side. The dagger pierced into the wolf's abdomen, tearing apart the skin and flesh.
Blood and organs spilled out of the wolf's body as it slumped down to the ground. Shane was sure that the fight would be over soon when a bad premonition spread through his whole body. He activated his [Berserk] skill instinctively as he jumped over the heavily injured purple furred wolf.

Valor and Violence
Valor and Violence is a series of short stories following different, yet all equally colourful, characters set in the same world. Birth of a Legend, the first short, follows Captain Erskine Erwell, a newly promoted Captain in the Calandorian Royal Navy, charged with protecting his people from all who would do them harm. Great news for the Calandorian citizens, bad news for the Skjar reavers that ravage the shores in search of slaves. But when a small reaver fleet slips the net and escapes to the southern jungles of Marduk, Erwell must fight a war on two fronts; one against the raiders, and a far more difficult war against the hostile landscape. If he can't find allies in this strange land, he may end up being the one in need of saving. The first part of the second short story will be uploaded on Saturday, the 11th of June, following Ferez Ahud, an aspiring young battlemage charged with the unsavoury job of 'terminating' a rogue member of his college. But how this nobody of a mage became a fugitive remains a mystery, and when the answer is discovered, the tables are turned and the hunter becomes the prey. I'll be uploading chapters of more in-universe short stories each week or as close to, work permitting. Content Guidelines: course language and violence

Everywhere else the constant threat of a lightning swift Viking incursion loomed over the land.Growing up in this lawless world is a displaced Daynin McKinnon, heir to an ancient familial keep on the island of Rhum. Real places, people and events flesh out this fast moving, multi-faceted semi-historical series but fear not fantasy readers. There's more than enough of the magical, mystical mayhem you have come to expect from great fantasy.
