Primordial Dimensions Chapter 34

Fortunately, the scent gland of a terrifying stench skunk was relatively cheap compared to its effect.
It couldn't be used as an ingredient for many potions and the potions that were brewed with it weren't that powerful and even less popular owing to the disgusting stench.
But Shane was still glad that he purchased the dissolved scent gland for a cheap price.
While the system had set it at a price of 50 gold coins, he had only paid 7 gold coins to purchase it through the Primordial Shop.
While he continued to eat, Shane was deep in thought, pondering what he should do with his small fortune and how to manage the funds.
He wanted to purchase better mana gathering and purification manuals and a body refining technique to increase his combat prowess over a longer period.
Considering that he had 169 gold coins, he began to wonder if he should just purchase three Tier-1 manuals. But in the end, it wouldn't help him that much, even though his strength would eventually increase.
Right now, Shane relied on his physique and fast reflexes during a fight, rather than on his mana.
He didn't even have any skill to release his mana and strengthening his body by a small margin was the most he could do.
Searching through the system shop, he found a few martial art techniques in addition to skills, but even the worst was too expensive for him.
Frowning deeply, Shane pondered if he had to go with 'plan B' in order to receive a bunch of skills and martial art techniques…
'I don't want to go to an academy!!' Shane lamented in his mind, but it seemed as if there was no way around it.
Since the Dimensional Portal had appeared, education took a backseat for humanity anymore, because survival had taken the top priority.

Only when humanity had found out a certain system function, had they started to prosper once again.
There were many reasons why that happened but the most important one was a certain fact.
Martial art manuals and skill tomes would normally dissipate once learned, but there was a certain chamber that allowed them to be stored intact.
It was extremely expensive but these [Dimension-spheres] were able to defy the dissipation of certain martial art manuals and skill tomes.
Hundreds could learn the same techniques and skills, but this came with a slight disadvantage.
Learning skills without the dimension-spheres, one would immediately receive the whole knowledge implanted in one's mind, but this was not the case with the dimension-spheres.
Rather than implanting everything in one's mind, one would have to learn the skills slowly over time by comprehending everything.
The dimensions-sphere was a small chamber that could store skills. Once a certain manual was inserted in the sphere, a virtual instructor would appear in most cases, teaching one everything needed.
With a higher comprehension ability, one would be able to learn skills and techniques faster. As soon as a certain threshold was crossed, the skill or technique would appear within the system panel, while the complete knowledge would be implanted within the mind.
Until now, humanity could only purchase roughly 100 tier-1 and 15 tier-2 dimension-spheres. This indicated that only tier one and tier two techniques could be learned within the dimension-spheres at most, while only a single individual could enter the chamber at a time.
With a population of more than 30 billion, this was nothing and as such, the federation decided to establish academies in order to strengthen the future generations.
Academies would allow certain students to learn martial art techniques and skills as rewards for accomplishing missions and staying on top of the theoretical and practical subjects.

On Igra, there were five big academies, and 20 tier-1 and 3 tier-2 dimension-spheres had been distributed amongst them.
There were also two tier-3 dimension spheres but they were hidden from the public, in order to let the most talented students learn tier-3 skills after they reached the Master stage.
Hiding the tier-3 dimension spheres was important to prevent their most prodigious students from wasting their precious time on less important things and let them have more time in the chambers.
It was the most efficient way in the federation's opinion and was accepted by the committee unanimously.
Shane only knew about it because he had eavesdropped on his dad, which in return had caused him to receive a beating.
Even if academies were useful, most excessively rich and powerful individuals wouldn't send their descendants to them, as they had enough funds to purchase usable skills, without having to waste time to learn them over a longer period.
With that in mind, a select few above-average families and commoners had the chance to overcome poverty by working hard in order to reach higher realms.
Previously, Shane didn't want to enter the academies because he wanted to stay lowkey without attracting any attention. But, then he would only obstruct his cultivation path by not attending the Shirai academy.
Furthermore, there shouldn't be much of a problem, as long as nobody he knew attended an academy which was extremely unlikely.
Everyone Shane knew was powerful and already too strong to bother about Tier-1 or Tier-2 techniques and skills. The only problem would be the descendants of these powerful authorities which included his mysterious fiancé.
There were a few youths roughly his age who knew how he looked. But, Shane didn't think any of them would attend an academy as their wealth was enough to not waste any time with school.
With enough funds, wasting time on learning a skill or technique slowly was stupid, and not using one's background to grow stronger would be even dumber.
If Shane's dad would not have restricted his future and forced him to be a puppet without his own will, he would have also used his father's financial support in order to become stronger as soon as possible.
But instead of receiving his dad's support, he wanted to be free without any restrictions.
Pondering about the advantages of the academies, Shane could only sigh.
If a student was strong and talented, he or she would receive many resources, tutoring, and the chance to learn skills, techniques, and much more.
The competition was high but the pressure caused by the competitive way all students thought would fuel their potential and spirit to become stronger, which was also an advantage.
On earth, he had advanced through classes due to his intelligence but in the end, everything had backfired. Shane was bullied by his classmates who were more than four years older than he was.
Not being able to fight back, he could only endure everything and follow his dream to get a veterinarian.
In the end, it had been useless but there was still a small trauma in Shane's mind tormenting him.
`Do I really have to?` Shane questioned himself and he thought about it for a long time before he found a satisfying answer.
