Arranged Marriage: To Hear Your Voice Chapter 1

It was a gloomy day for her to go outside, all she wanted was a calm and peaceful place, a mansion to be precise. While reading the series: A Song of Ice and Fire, A Clash of Kings {also known as Game of Thrones in HBO} by George R.R. Martin, a faint sound of Alpha Ceiling Fan worth 527.50 dollars was the only thing that could be heard in the living room.
Rather than going to the company to please her father, she was indoor because she wanted to enjoy the weather as she waited for the rain. That's to show how introverted she is, but she wished no bitch would dare mess with the silence.
After sitting for two hours, a maid brought in her favorite tea and snacks for her break time. She sipped on the hot tea, perfect for the cold weather. Not until she heard footsteps and a stranger males voice.
"You are welcome to our house Mr. Lawson. My son already told me about your arrival and search for a bride personally. I have my youngest daughter here, who is quite fond of you.
"Lawson? Her brow suddenly rose up, she ignored them and continued reading the last page of the book. Son? It is probably her brother who is away from them and managing a business outside the country, because the other son of the family is known as black sheep and doesn't care about family businesses.
They all stopped when they saw a lady sitting on a comfortable sofa. "That's my eldest daughter." Ferdinand introduces. "Sweetheart," He called her to get her attention. She closed her book and faced the two men in suits. She knew who Lawson is, so the other one is most likely to be the assistant, she thought. She bowed her head, picked up her tablet and left to the west wing toward her room.
"That's my sweet sister! Please forgive her, she's an introvert." Said a man in t-shirt and army style shorts while smiling at the men in suits. "Hi, Gabby." He said casually. Mr. Lawson or Gabriel Lawson is one of the wealthiest tycoons in the country. He also belongs to the top 50 richest men in the world.

Gabriel was pleased to meet Ethan's twin brother. They indeed look alike. Though the woman back then was one of his interests, she also looked like this twin, although she is a bit feminine.
"Then you must be Enzo." Gabriel extends his hand to the man that looks much more like a college boy.
"Yup!" Enzo shook his hand and said "The black sheep of the family."
"So, your sister…" Gabriel started.
"Daddy!" A young Lady of age 23 girlishly walked down the stairs like a diva. She greeted her father sweetly, while flashing a flirtatious smile towards Mr. Lawson.
"This is my youngest daughter, Marga." Alvarez introduced her. Lawson reached out his hand to her and she shook it in a much lady-like manner. Though she's pretty and might be a great trophy wife, he doesn't need someone like her.
"Sweetheart, This is Mr. Gabriel Lawson and his assistant Mr. Oliver Gonzales."
She smiled brightly at them. Ferdinand Alvarez gestures for them to sit. Gabriel sat down on the spot where the woman from before was. The sofa is still warm from her body heat, he smirks to himself. I finally found her, he uttered to himself and smiled at Enzo, who gazed at him with sharp eyes. He probably had known his intentions.
"Then, I should call out for snacks. What would you both like?" Enzo asked.
"Tea please." Gabriel requested. Gonzales was surprised by his boss's request.
"Any kind of tea? My sister is the only one who drinks tea here."
"Any tea." Gabriel smiles.
Coming down from the stairs is the Mistress of the house, Mrs. Alvarez.
A month after Enzo's birth mother died, their father married Janine Lim out of his heart. She's been the long Mistress and Marga was her father's illegitimate child but not long enough, she's now an Alvarez. Her hair was curled personally by her stylist for this dinner courtship of Gabriel Lawson.

"Mr. Lawson, Mr. Gonzales." Janine greeted them.
"Mrs. Alvarez." Lawson greeted in a business way.
On the west wing of the mansion. In Sabrina's room. She stood in front of the glass door to her balcony while watching the heavy rain from the outside. She clenched her fist and chuckles in her mind.
Since she has stopped talking for years, she only laughed and scoffed inside her mind.
Damn it, I never expected you'll be this rich, Mr. Lawson. She uttered in her mind. The man from before was the man she only slept with for a night and paid 10,000 dollars.
She wanted to laugh out loud to herself after finding out. Well, he's here to marry Marga and not her, so she's probably safe from everything. And surely Marga will be offended when she learned that Gabriel was her one nightstand.
She's sure that Marga knows a lot of techniques to please a man and she does not like the idea of pleasing a man. Pleasing a man wasn't part of her living and she lived her life satisfying herself.
She took her book from the bed and placed it on her shelves. She changed her casual home clothes into a sports bra and running shorts and went on the treadmill, where she started running with loud music. It was a personal gym next to her room. Sometimes, her brother uses it but since Enzo prefers running outside and going to the gym in the city to hook up, he rarely visits her gym.
She was breathing in and out through her nose as she ran faster, her mind was playing a recap of her hot scene with Gabriel Lawson. One of the richest men in the world. She was drunk back then, a little drunk and asked for a man to rent. Luckily, a slightly drunk man came up whom she thought to be a gigolo.
She dragged him to her suite and he didn't stop her instead. She managed to give him a condom and the following scenes are very much erotic and censored. He banged her in her suite more than once. He spoke to her but she never responded because she was mute. After which they both felt tired and slept off, she was awakened by a phone call, took a quick shower, pulled 10,000 dollars bills and left the suite.
This happened in New York.
She started slowing down her speed in intervals, letting her heart and breathing catch up. She took the bottle from the treadmill cup handle and took a sip from it. Then her music's volume was turned down a little as Enzo appeared and leaned on the double door. He glanced at her from the mirror in front of her.
"Family dinner without Ethan. It will be settled in one and a half hours, dear Sabrina."
She typed something on the keyboard in front of her treadmill and it appeared on the big screen inside her gym as her comment and response.
"Not hungry." The screen showed her response.
"Why? Because of our bitch step-mother and your sister?"
"She's not my sister." Her response was cold and short on the keyboard.
"Okay. I promise you, you are my only sister." He raised his hands, not wanting to argue.
"Flattered." Sabrina typed.
"Get beautiful tonight. I think Mr. Lawson is into you." He said while laughing.
"Not interested." she commented by typing.
"Whatever sister, I'll call Ethan to have quality time with us soon. Love you." He blew her a kiss, which she caught and threw away. He laughed again and left.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
