The Legendary F Rank Chapter 3

Chapter 3: First day at school.
Luke pulled Haru out of the bed and then left him on his own to get dressed. Haru felt confused as he didn't know what was happening. "Did I forget something?" He asked himself as he made his way downstairs.
He looked down the hallway and noticed that the front door was wide open. He looked around for his parents and then he heard a voice from outside. "Hurry up, Haru." He walked outside to see that his dad was putting a bag into the back of a black car with tinted windows.
Through the windows, he could see the faint silhouette of the driver. His mom walked out from behind him and put her arm on his shoulder. "Make sure you come and visit us when you're on your break from school." Haru looked back at his mom, who now had tears forming in her eyes.
He knew that school was supposed to start soon, but he must have let it slip from his mind until now. "Yeah, I will," He said before hugging her and walking over to help his dad out. As he reached his dad, he had just finished loading up the car.
He then walked around the side of the car and opened the door for Haru. "Come on, get your ass in or you will be late." He said whilst rubbing his face with his sleeve.
Haru got into the car and put on his seat belt. "And don't make your mom worry, ok?" His dad said as he now rubbed his eyes to hold back tears. "Yes, sir" Haru gave him a salute before closing the door.
"Be careful alright," were his final words before he closed the door. Haru looked out of the window to see both of his parents waving him goodbye as the driver turned around.
"Are you ready now?" He asked before turning back to look at the road. "Yup." The engine started up, and they took off. Haru looked back once more before giving a final wave to his home of fifteen years.
Haru found the long car ride quite boring. He even tried to make small talk with the driver, but he just put the window up so he didn't have to listen to him talk.
He then decided to look at the settings on his lux to pass the time. A projected screen appeared from the lux as he read through the code. He looked at the power configurations and saw something weird. (Power limit=True.) Now he didn't know much about code, but he did realize that meant there was a power limiter in the lux.

That would explain why his parents actually gave him one. What kind of parents would give their child a weapon that has the ability to kill thousands of people in combat without any precautions?
"I can always change it back," He said to himself before setting it to false. He then looked at the form settings to see what weapon is produced when activated. (Sword form=True.) And directly under that. (Gun form=False.)
'Weird. I probably owned about seventy Luxes in my previous life, and not once did I ever see one with two forms.' He thought before switching it to the gun form to check it out.
Just as he was about to check out his lux, there was a tap on the window. "We have arrived." The driver said as he opened the door, prompting Haru to get out of the car and look around.
There were hundreds of cars pulling up to the school gate, and at one side there was a line of adults that were all standing still, either waving or crying as their children walked into the distance.
As he was looking around, he was startled by a voice that came from behind him. "You must be Haru Kitagawa. Is that correct?" It was a boy who looked about the same age as Haru. He had short blond hair and crystal blue eyes.
"Yeah, that's me." He replied and then turned to pick up his bags. "Oh great, my father said you would be coming. I'm Jake Ainsworth," He held out his hand. Haru then threw his bags over his shoulder to get them out of the way and then shook his hand.
"Yeah, Nice to meet you, Jake. By any chance, do you know where I should put my bags?" Haru looked around for any signs.
Of course, they didn't make it easy to find out where he was supposed to go. On the other side of the gate, there was what looked to be a train platform.
"Hmm, I'm not sure they will probably tell us when we get there," Jake said before picking up his own bags.
A few seconds went by before the ground started to vibrate a little. And after a few more seconds there was now a train at the platform.
"All students please board within five minutes." A voice came from a speaker inside the train. "I guess this is us," Jake said as he started to walk towards the train.
"I guess it is." Haru followed behind Jake. The train carriage was quite small and there were about one hundred and forty people on board. It was like one of the subway systems in Tokyo.

Everybody was packed together like canned sardines. 'I don't even know how they passed safety regulations.' Haru thought. He stood next to the door to get some extra legroom when suddenly, there was a girl that cried out.
"Wait, a minute!" Haru looked outside the window to see that there was a girl running towards the train. "Doors are now closing." The voice from the speaker spoke up again.
He then stuck his foot against the side of the door for a few seconds before the girl managed to make it on to the train.
"That was cutting it close," Jake whispered to Haru as the girl tried to catch her breath. "Just a bit," Haru said back to him. The train suddenly shot forwards making everyone fly back. Haru then felt a slight impact on his chest. He looked down to find a face full of icy blue hair stuck to his chest.
The girl then looked up toward him while still trying to catch her breath that was now gently hitting Haru's cheek. "I'm sorry!" She managed to get out in between breaths before she made her way through the crowd of people. Blue hair... Surely she can't be? Haru thought before Jake interrupted him.
"Did you see that she had blue hair? Do you think they will expel her?" Jake asked as the girl disappeared from sight.
"Yeah, I saw, but why would she be expelled?" Haru inquired into Jake's question.
"They said in the school rules that you can't dye your hair," Jake explained.
"Maybe she didn't dye it." Haru blurted out, still lost in his own thoughts.
"What do you mean? Her hair was blue. Of course, she dyed it." Jake sounded frustrated as he said it again.
"Ok, if you say so," Haru agreed and then put his hands in his pockets. He looked out of the window, watching as the trees passed by. But it was all just a blur with the speed that the train was moving at.
The train began to slow down and there were people now talking all around. Suddenly they came to a stop, and the doors opened to another train platform. Haru picked up his bags and stepped out. It was like they had just appeared in a completely different country.
The sidewalks were as white as chalk and there were rows of cherry blossom trees standing perfectly in a line leading to the school's main gate. And the school itself was by far the biggest building Haru had ever seen. There were guards in black suits at each corner of the school grounds and five people on the other side of the gates.
An old man stepped out from the middle of them. "Welcome all new students. I am Malcolm, the principal at this school. As you may or may not know. Lessons don't officially start until tomorrow. But the reason we have brought you here today is to assign you to your classes. The class you are assigned to is based on your grades in the entrance exam. So we have your classes assigned already. When you hear your name stand by the teacher you've been assigned to."
First, they called out all the rank A's then the Rank B's Followed by the C's, D's, E's and then finally Haru heard his name. "Haru Kitagawa Rank F." Haru skipped the entrance exam by the recommendation from that mysterious man. So it was only natural that he ended up at the very bottom.
Jake gave Haru a pat on the back. "Unlucky. Maybe you will get ranked higher next year." Haru couldn't help but laugh. All the other classes were full. What Rank did Jake think he would end up in?
"Jake Ainsworth Rank F." There was a look of shock on his face as he heard those words. He hung his head as he walked over. Haru gave him another laugh, and then he looked at the group of people still standing.
'So these are my classmates?' That's when he noticed the girl with blue hair looking around helplessly. 'So she's in my class too?' He thought.
"Mia Tachibana Rank F." The blue-haired girl stepped forward and walked toward Jake and Haru.
Haru looked at the girl. 'Tachibana… She's related to him? Maybe I will be able to get some answers if I ever manage to meet him again.' Haru thought to himself.
The old man finished calling out names and then took all of the classes to the dorm rooms and handed them to their student planners. They were a kind of tablet but had all of the class timetables and the phone numbers of every other student in the school. Just in case you needed to get in touch with them. The school was huge, so it was understandable.
Haru finally arrived in his room, put down his bags and then jumped on to his bed. He was extremely exhausted, but he still needed to check out his lux. He then poured his mana into the device and suddenly there was a flash of blinding light...

My World To Live
[Do Not Read this version, New FINAL version uploaded August 9th, 2021 as separate fiction, click to link here on RR. Essairyn had never felt truly alive on Earth. It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after nearly 20 years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. Suddenly, she awakens in a grandiose, primordial forest and encounters both demons and spirits in a parallel world called Sol'h'meyr. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who just reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is an abnormal human with elemental powers, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world of magic, danger, mystery, and intrigue. But this not a game. That simple adventure is actually the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tear even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought she was. And not even the gods can change the destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity’s existence. — Fantasy || Adventure || Romance || Action || Mystery || Drama || Science Fiction — The My World To Live (MWTL) series, the alternative short name is Canaan, is comprised of three books symbolically named My World, To Live, and My World To Live. Two years prior, the entire story had been planned and detailed out from start to finish before actual writing. Thus, the story will never be dropped. While the genre is largely Fantasy, the book is comprised of many other elements including a School Life (Magic Academy) story portion. MWTL has a lot of scattered symbolism and allusions, hence, the mystery aspect. The science fiction elements progressively become more pronounced, and the slow romance is a late bloomer. The female lead is strong and independent, and her backstory and identity unravel as drivers of the plot. Expect lots of action/fighting throughout and scattered philosophical and psychological themes arising. It's a human journey to find the essence of one's living and purpose. What kind of world do I wish to live for? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I hope to share the journey with you~! Canaan's Original and New Covers: If you're curious about my art and the various covers I made for this series and other authors, I have a RR thread that makes free covers and shows art processes. [October 1, 2020 Notice: Hello, I aplogize to all followers for suddenly taking an extended hiatus. Life threw a lot at my face and then the pandemic happened, so I hadn't been able to write until around the last month when I decided to challenge myself and finish the first book in this series. I am ok now, and thank you for your patience and understanding. No words can express how much every reader means to me. RR was the first writing platform that I ever felt accomplished to any small degree, so I am forever grateful to it. Multiples changes have been made since this final revision and writing of the ending, so please see the latest chapter detailing the update. This also includes my decision to submit this story to the 2020 Wattys contest (the deadline was Sept 30th). That means I will not be posting the updated version of this story on here until the contest is over (since I doubt I'll win anyway lol). And so, if you want to read the full, now completed (woohoo!) story, please go to my Wattpad. Thank you once again, and wishing you all the very best health and happiness! FINAL UPDATE, March 7, 2021: The complete story has been re-posted after the Wattys. This version that was on Wattys is the one being re-posted. For more information, please read this update linked here. Thank you to all readers for taking this two year journey with me!

8 128Witch Hunt. A Warhammer Fiction
The adventures of Adebar von Bolstedt continue!Adebar von Bolstedt, fugitive noble scion of the Empire, stuck in the Great Forest of Talabecland, is gravely wounded by the bestial denizens of the dark wintery woods, only surviving due to the timely arrival of aid and relief in the form of the masters of this land. What begins as a pleasant stay with the wild noblemen of Talabecland soon becomes a matter of faith and tradition as old as the Empire itself, when he finds himself trying to root out a coven of witches from a society that prides itself on rural living and knowledge of the mysteries of the wild. This quest will either see von Bolstedt's shaken faith in his own god reforged into an intolerant blade, or shattered like ice. Word from the AuthorGreetings! Witch Hunt plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This is the second part of the adventures of Adebar von Bolstedt, as such I recommend reading part one, titled "The Hand of Sigmar" first. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.

The Coles are probably the definition of a small dysfunctional family, even if they weren’t the worst in existence; they would probably be lauded as an example of the term. The Coles were a small family though. The father, Oliver Cole, was an asshole ex-football jock who bounced around in small paying jobs after wasting most of his life drinking, drugging and whoring. The daughter, Stacy Cole, was smart, but had many issues including anger, trouble with authority, and occasional suicidal thoughts, and was kicked out of many a school for disruptive behaviour. The son, Mike Cole, was innocent, and tried his best to be kind to anyone and everyone, however his own speech impediment, and slow nature only aided people to bully and belittle him, including his own father. The Coles were indeed a dysfunctional family. At least they were, until they got to the small town near the border between the United States and Canada, Sanguine. Welcome to Sanguine. You will stay. With the exception of the first chapter, each chapter only follows one character. The first chapter is the only chapter in which I will include 'Sides' where it follows a different character. This is a short Lovecraftian story, it won't go above seventeen chapters. Note: the book cover is my first attempt, it might not even remain like it is, I was just tired of seeing the standard 'no cover' thing on it.
