Master Of None Chapter 491

Gil let the arrow fly off toward the dummy. Unlike the last arrow, this one flew and easily impacted the training dummy. With a slight burst of water elemental mana the dummy was suddenly coated in dripping water. These drops began to solidify and create very thin needles of ice all over the dummy.
Gil ran up to the dummy and inspected it. "The ice needles penetrate only in to the top layer of the dummy. The arrow looks fairly intacted. The power may be lower but the durability against the water element is very good. It has nearly no damage to it and could be used seven or eight time by my guess." The elf jumped in joy hearing this.
"Sir hero, I will immediately record this and request that one of the arrow smiths take it for production and improvements." The elf was overjoyed that they had managed to come uop with this new arrow. It may not be powerful but it was great for single target strikes and reusability.
"That arrow will be great for taking prisoners or even stopping thieves." Scylla saw the strength of the arrow for what it really was. It was not a killer but instead a way to easily stop an enemy in their tracks.
"I believe that will be very helpful for when crime jumps due to the city opening," Walker said this and saw many of the worried looks from the levs around him. "It is an inevitable part of travelers. Don't worry it will be spoken about with the queen and such arrows will assist in preventing things." His reassurance made them relax again and focus back on Gil.
"Sir hero, my arrow is made from the nettle vine and the arrow head is taken from the horn of a moss deer. They shed their horns once a year and are rarely used for anything but jewlery. But they are great for enhancing earth elemental mana." The elf had created an arrow with a green and brown coloration leading to an arrow head that appeared to be growing some small pieces of moss.

"The arrow head appears to be durable but if it grows moss too easily it could throw off aim. Overall it looks good though." Gil was happy to see the common materials that had been repurposed in to the arrow. If this worked then the material that was thought to be only usable for jewelry. This meant that there would be plenty to make arrows out of and not much trade for them.
Reading the bow with this third prototype arrow Gil used his mana to activate it. The earth elemental mana started to grow dense in the ara making every elf focus immediately. This was more powerful than normal and they all knew the reaction would be as well.
When Gil released the arrow there was a slight shift in the earth on the training floor. The earth was slightly uplifted in the path that the arrow had traveled and when the dummy was struck they all witnessed one of the fastest movements of earth they had ever seen.
The earth jumped up and began to reclaim the arrow while also dragging the dummy underground. In a matter of minutes the arrow, dummy, and their breath seemed to be pulled under the earth. "I would say that is a success. The arrow is lost underground, but the dummy is also completely destroyed. Congratulations on this. Still one use arrow but it can deal with an incredibly strong enemy." Gil could only praise the elf for his creation. It was a massive boon for the arcane archers.
"Yes, thank you very much for evaluating my creatin. I will do my best to improve it for the future of my people." The elf was nearly in tears seeing that his prototype arrow had performed so well. This was something that any of the arcane marksmen would remember for generations. It was not every day that a powerful new arrow was successfully created, But it was also rare for them to be able to solely focus on making them.

"Now for our last and final arrow." Gil had waited for the trainees to move another dummy in to place and return to a safe distance.
The elf that had rushed up with their arrow last minute came forward again. "Sir hero, my arrow is made from the white pine tree that requires high amounts of light elemental mana to grow. The arrow head is made from silver quartz, it is common and only forms in the sunlight as well. I tied them together with a single strang of unicorn hair from my bow," The elf appeared to be nervous.
"Are you sure they can even hold the light elemental mana? Those materials are for channeling it not storing." Another elf was worried that the arrow wasn't going to do anything.
"I don't want it to store it. I want it to gather from the air as it travels." This was an interesting change of ideals. The elf had given up the idea to store away the light elemental mana for one that would gather it in transit. "It only needs a little of the user's mana to start drawing the light elemental mana toward it." The elf had their theory and the others started to accept it slightly.
"So you have tried a different path altogether. Isn't this like the light elemental rune formations then?" Gil made the relation and the elf nodded in reply.
"I think if they were carved with light elemental rune formations that the arrows could be even stringer. But it needs to be tested." The elf was excited and visibly biting their tongue to keep from rushing off on their theories and tangents. Seeing this Gil decided that it was best for him to move on and give them the final tests they needed to prove or disprove the creations and theories they wanted to pursue.

Please note: the Sexual Content tag is there due to a single brief plot-relevant scene, which has a warning at the beginning. For other details, read the full description below. Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 5 x 5*, 2 x 4.5*, 1 x 0.5* During a blackout, a frail and ragged old woman stops to ask for a glass of water from a backyard barbecue party. Given a good supper instead, she looks around the group, and tells them, "Be who and what you truly are." Days later, seven of the people from the barbecue find themselves drawn into a trap laid by a pair of wizards and their accomplices, who kidnap them into a bubble reality. All seven, who have known each other all their lives, are informed that they are not in fact entirely human: they have active fae blood, due to a series of conditions culminating with the blessing of the elderly fae woman. The transformation into fae form comes as a shock: all seven, whether originally female or male, find themselves now unreasonably beautiful women. More urgent even than that, though, is their captivity. Getting back to the real world is a higher priority than this metamorphosis that rapidly begins to feel natural... but this is only the first step, as the diverse types of fae blood they carry begin to surface. With no resources except themselves, how can they escape this prison? If they succeed, how can they possibly reclaim their lives? Just how many other faelings have been kidnapped, anyway, and what happened to them? And is there a way to make sure that their captors never put anyone else through this? Back in the real world, Kayla, who learned long ago to trust her gut instincts, is absolutely certain that something is very wrong. The pattern in the list of missing friends is easy to spot, but makes no sense at all. Then a young woman turns up at the backyard gate who knows more than she should, and even though her explanation makes even less sense, every instinct tells Kayla that Riley is her only way to get them back. If they're not quite what they were, well, that's a bridge to cross later... Just a little note: I'm a big believer in endings that are upbeat but not candy-coated, and not a fan of grim-and-gritty or of glamorized violence. These are adults in a difficult situation. However, no one gets raped, and the physical violence is, all things considered, fairly minimal. There is some harassment, sexual and otherwise, and also some mild restraint and mild verbal abuse. Complicating factors are generally wizardly or fae in nature. If I need to warn you about gender in this being all over the map, some of it reality-based rather than fantasy-based, highly diverse sexuality, or that there is (especially later) some indirect fetish/BDSM imagery and honest character discussion, then you probably should just avoid everything I write. :-) Also available on Scribble Hub.

The General Core {The Sphere}
The life cycle in the Sphere is on the brink of collapse because one of its elements, the Dungeons, have been exploited too much by the mortals. The group who created the Sphere already tried and failed with several modifications, because the original computer-like dungeon cores are too inflexible to handle changing approaches. So they try another type of solution – taking souls from other worlds to try to find a solution before the Sphere Cycle breaks down completely. The General was one of the best soldiers of his world, rising from the ranks of a private through Officer School to the highest command with honors. But when his world faced a zombie apocalypse, even that was not enough and he had to make the ultimate sacrifice. Now he is asked for a repeat performance of planning and controlling a dungeon and its spawns in a world that he knows nothing about… But what is the Sphere really? What is that [Xenotic conversion] he has to go through to even enter the Sphere? Something is really strange and he will have to find out what is going on to get to his promised rewards – whatever they will be. Being a soul in a dungeon core means that the General has better chances of finding hints to the truth about the sphere – a knowledge that would help him survive. And no, the sphere is NOT a virtual reality – the key to its secrets is the place where it was physically constructed (Author’s hint). This is a dungeon core story - but there are quite a number of things that I will do differently than common to those stories. 1) I will describe the floors when they are explored, NOT when they are build. Yes, that will mean it will take longer to get to those parts - but I think describing floors both when they are build and when they are explored destroys quite a lot of chances for suspense when adventurers enter the dungeon. After all, if you as the reader already know where the traps are, then you can't really be surprised when the surfacers encounter them. 2) How the world works (and how not) is an integral part of the story, so it will be explained I'm a world-builder first and the Sphere is NOT a regular world (as hinted in the synopsis above). Things will work differently than in your 08/15 default dungeon core stories - as the General and Gunny have already learned in the second arc (and more of that is already scheduled for the next weeks (July/Aug 2019) when the Sky Arrows continue to explore and evaluate that strange dungeon) If you don't like these premises, then I'm sure you'll find a lot of other Dungeon Core stories more to your liking. But if you are interested in more than "Dungeon builds another room and corridor in medieval earth" and are not afraid of a longer and slower story, then go on. I have two more stories in the Sphere, although they both have lower priority than this one: Shaleen the Wanderer (Adventurer, NSFW) (currently on hold after some chapters) Info's on the Sphere (System Docu and Short Stories) (irregular updates when needed) Current Status reports have been moved to a new discord server: https://discord.gg/EaHkXCfm9y

Rune
In the world of Rune, there are two kinds of Players. The Crafters, and the Fighters. Fighters level their magic power, fueling the runic items from their own bodies, while crafters use the runes they bring back to develop powerful items using their knowledge of the electronic-like system. Not everything stays that simple, though, and Rune is no exception. Within each region, a number of guilds have sprung up, operating as the unaccountable vanguard of defense for the besieged cities. They don't care to deal fairly, and nobody else has the power to do much about it. (Harem is tagged but it's honestly polyamory. I hate the word harem but given that some people would interpret it as such, in it goes.)
