The Tale Of Three Sisters Chapter 77

Kate rushed inside the silver box, can't wait to start finding her sister.

Esmeralda followed here inside the box sporting a cool demeanor on her face.

A few moments later the box already take off and floated in the air.

"Where do you want to look first, child?" Esmeralda asked.

Kate looked at Granny. "I dunno...Granny...I have no idea where to find my sister. This place is too large, I don't know where to look first," she said in confusion.

"Let's begin in the forest below? What do you think?" Esmeralda suggested.

"Yes, please...If Ivy falls below then we might find her body lying somewhere," Kate answered sadly, already in tears.

Esmeralda went to Kate's side and patted her shoulder in sympathy. "Take it easy, child, I got a feeling that your sister is safe..." she said.

Kate's eyes widened. "I hope so, Granny," she responded with a sad smile. She appreciated that Granny is always willing to help her in times of need.

She has no idea what to do if she was left alone to her resources, she has no innate power that she can use in this mysterious world filled with powerful beings. She can only depend on the old woman for help.

It's a shitty situation she was in. She felt so insecure and powerless, she can't even help her sister on her own 'coz she needs to depend on somebody else for help! So frustrating!

They were now hovering above the towering trees in the forest.

Kate noticed that the box was approaching the ground, and soon enough they landed in a small clearing in the middle of the forest.

She was about to exit the door when Esmeralda prevented her.

"Don't rush recklessly outside, child. I mean you can leave the box but do not wander off far away from the clearing. This forest is teeming with poisonous animals and dangerous creatures, you'll never know what you'll stumble into," Esmeralda warned her firmly.

Kate was puzzled. "Huh? Then how am I supposed to find my sister if I just stay here within the perimeter of the clearing?"

"Don't worry...I will summon the leaves of the tree to come over here to help us find your sister faster. If she is indeed here in this forest, we will find her soon," explained Esmeralda.

"B-but...Granny! I just can't wait here and do nothing. I need to find my sister!" she argued and protested.

Esmeralda sighed. "Child, as I have said earlier, this forest is filled with dangerous animals. Besides, you can't find your sister on your own in this vast forest even if you keep looking for her the whole day. Finding her on foot takes too much time! Just stay here and I will instruct the leaves to find Ivy. They can scour every nook and cranny of this forest in a much shorter time. To be precise, they can do so much better and faster than two of us combined," she elaborated further.

Kate released a deep sigh and weighed things in her mind. As much as she wanted to find her sister on her own the forest is just too huge for her. Granny's explanation is making sense, she will just have to obey her. "Alright, you are correct, Granny. I will leave everything to the leaves," she finally relented.

"Good," Esmeralda said and they exited the box.

Kate found a nice area to sit under the shade of the tree. She watched as Granny stood still, a solitary figure in the center of the clearing...arms wide open...wielding her power to summon the leaves. It must have been good if she can also obtain the same kind of power to help her during times of need and danger.

She fixed her gaze on the ground as the thoughts of her missing sister invaded her mind again.

'SISTER, WHERE ARE YOU!?' she was trying to call her in her mind. 'Please stay safe wherever you are,' she added.

She raised her head and looked at where her benefactor was standing.

Granny has succeeded in summoning the leaves!

The leaves finally arrived and they were floating above the clearing about more than a hundred of them! Wow, it was such a fantastic sight to behold!

Esmeralda addressed the leaves.

"Leaves, I need your help. As you know our guest in the house, Ivy was missing. I want you all to search for her and do not leave an inch of this forest untouched. Find her quick for me! Go!" Esmeralda commanded.

"Yes, we will find her, Esmeralda..." the leaves replied in unison.

The leaves began scattering in all directions and disappeared from the clearing in seconds.

Esmeralda looked at Kate and sauntered towards her direction, then she lowered herself beside her on the trunk of the tree. "I already instructed the leaves to find your sister. Let's just wait here for the good news," she said in a soothing voice.

"Thank you for the help, Granny," Kate responded with a gloomy sigh.

Esmeralda rubbed Kate's back to comfort her. "Don't mention it. Keep the faith," she said softly.

Kate truly appreciated Granny's help and genuine care, it somehow lightened the heavy burden she was carrying in her shoulder. She rested her head on Esmeralda's thighs seeking physical comfort, as fresh tears of worry and desperation for her missing sister flowed out from her eyes.

Esmeralda continues rubbing Kate's back in sympathy. She fixed her eyes on the view ahead hoping for a favorable result after the leaves are done with the task she assigned to them.

If Ivy didn't leave the house on her own, that means somebody powerful enough dared to enter her house in the middle of the night, easily breaking the barrier she erected around her house and abducted Kate's older sister without living any traces behind. Yeah, everything transpired while she was sleeping like a log inside the comfort of her room.

How dare that despicable being entered her property uninvited and stole her guest!

Blasphemy!

If she will find that despicable entity, she will make sure that creature will regret abducting her guest.

Wait...

That powerful being only chose Ivy and didn't take Kate!

Why?

Who else is interested in Ivy besides the vampires?

She only knows of one, that would be the vampire Maxwell!

But if Maxwell is the culprit...why he didn't take Kate along with him? Since he is powerful enough to abduct Ivy secretly, then why not come back to take away Kate as well?

Why not kidnap the two sisters? Why only take one?

Those thoughts bothered her so much.

Maybe there are some other entities interested in Ivy? Well...she can't blame anyone because human beings are considered like an exotic commodity inside this castle. With Ivy's beautiful look and delicious blood, any creature would be willing to kidnap Ivy for many purposes.

Kate raised her tear stricken eyes. "Granny, do you think my sister is still alive until now?" she asked fearing for the old woman's answer.

Esmeralda sighed. "I dunno child. I don't like to answer your question with a lie. I might as well say that as long we can't see her dead body in physical form, she is still alive somewhere, held by someone against her will," she concluded.

Kate continues sobbing silently, her heart was breaking inside her rib cage, this is too much for her to take, she's dying inside worrying about her sister! Just when they were reunited after being separated, another problem comes up!

"The problem never stops coming, Granny! It's so unfair!" Kate whined aloud.

Esmeralda maintains her silence while listening patiently to Kate's protest and complaints. They need to find Ivy as soon as possible because the poison will take effect after ten days and that woman will die if the poison in her body has no cure and the antidote can't be found on time.

They're running against time to locate Ivy's whereabouts.

They must find her...ASAP!
