The Side Character Turned Villainess Chapter 50

After I finished my classes, I left with Dante and William to go to their house to train. It was starting to feel as if everything was back to normal. Well almost.

I stood with my sword in hand staring Dante down. I sighed, "Dante..."

He replied coldly, "What?"

"You're going easy on me."

"I am not."

I frowned. He most certainly was. I practiced with him before so I can easily tell when he is holding back. Usually, he was always trying to attack me and knock me over on my rump. However, now he's just standing there blocking my moves with a bored look.

William sat to the side watching intently. He too was acting strange. He would normally be in the shade reading with a carefree expression. Except now, he was on the side lines watching so closely. Sometimes too closely.

I snapped my head over to him, "And you! Why do you keep coming closer and closer!"

He spoke defensively, "I'm not! I've been in this spot the entire time!"

I glared, "No you haven't! See that line?!" I pointed behind him and he looked back at it.

"What about it?"

"I told you to stay BEHIND the line!!"

He looked back at it once more, "Oh..."

I shouted noticing he wasn't moving, "NOW GO!"

He scooched back to it and looked at me with a serious expression. I sighed and rubbed my temple, "Now stay behind the line this time. You're smothering me. I can't take it."

He nodded, "Alright. Alright."

When I looked back up at Dante, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed him scoot closer to me. I let out a groan and decided to ignore it.

Children are annoying.

I spoke to Dante, "Well? Why are you going easy on me?"

He still kept up his innocence, but looked to his right. "I'm not."

"You're looking to the right again."

He paused and scolded himself mentally. He closed his eyes, "I'm not. You've gotten much stronger."

I sighed, "Closing your eyes won't help. I know you're still lying. I'm not a total idiot. I'm using a much lighter sword than usual and I'm already tired." I added quietly to myself, "Although, I do appreciate the compliment."

William spoke up, "He's only going easy on you because he was threatened."

Dante glared at him, "Shut up."

I blinked in surprise, "Is that true? But who would dare threaten him?"

Dante warned William in a cold sharp tone, "Don't you dare."

William glanced at him and considered something for a moment. Then he looked back at me, "Your father paid a visit to us a few days ago. He said the purpose was to talk to Queen Luna, but that wasn't the truth. He only came to threaten Dante. He managed to catch Dante outside and then it became a huge mess. He started screaming at him and threatening him that if he didn't go easy on you during training, then he would personally break all of his bones."

William began laughing, "You should have seen how freaked out Dante got! I thought he was going to faint!"

Dante growled at him, "Me? What about you?! You saw him coming and jumped into a bush to hide!"

I giggled at them. I wish I could have seen that. I cleared my throat and they looked back at me. "Why did he threaten you about that though?"

William made a no duh face, "Because you've been sick. He was worried you'd get sick again."

"If he was that worried, why is he even letting me train? Why not just threaten Dante to refuse to train me?"

Dante glanced at me, "If I refused, what would you do?"

I thought for a moment, "Probably reek havoc and start destroying things."

Dante crossed his arms, "Exactly."

William clicked his tongue, "Aren't you embarrassed admitting such a thing? Even your own father was worried his daughter would be so destructive."

I shrugged, "Why would I be embarrassed? It's the truth."

William sighed, "You are too crazy."

I stuck out my tongue at him. Dante spoke before William could shout, "Even if I didn't want to go easy on you, I probably don't have much of a choice."

I raised an eyebrow, "Why not?"

He spoke as a matter of fact, "Poison training."

I raised my eyebrows in surprise, "Poison training?! What's that?"

He answered, "Exactly how it sounds. We are training our bodies to be more protected against poison."

I nodded and stopped, "We?"

He motioned over at William, "William also."

My eyes widened, "Wow! I'm surprised. No wonder you both are more sluggish than usual. I just thought you were both getting fat."

William glared, "Oi!"

I asked, "So how does it actually work?"

William answered with a hint of irritation, "We take a controlled dose a day."

"I see. And where do you store it at?"

"We store it in the room next to the weapon storage building."

I nodded. "Is it usually locked?"

"Of course."

Actually it's not a bad idea to do poison training. I recall several scenes where there was attempted poisoning in the novel. Now that I think harder, it was Dante that could recognize the smell and taste of poison. He was the one who stopped most of the attempts.

I wonder why the original novel didn't mention they both trained to be able to be immune to poison. Now that I know they did, it makes much more sense. After all, could a normal human really have such skill without practice?

Wait. If they are doing this, then...

A smile crossed my face. William stood up abruptly, "No! Whatever you're thinking, no!"

However, it was too late. I already came up with a brilliant idea. I smirked at William, "Anything you can do, I can do better~"

Dante paled when he heard me say this. I immediately took off, running full speed towards the room in question. They both ran after me in a panic. However, the poison training truly did have an effect. They were too slow to catch up to me!

Oh, I'm enjoying this.

When I got into the building, I slammed the door behind me and locked it. I heard them banging on the door.

Williams voice shouted, "Let us in! Don't even think about anything!!"

I went over to the window and stuck my tongue out at them. They glared at me in response and banged on the windows.

I mocked them, "Haha! Why don't you come in here and stop me?"

I ran away quickly and made it to the room in question. I noticed the lock and pulled out a pin from my hair. Skillfully, I put the pin into the lock and went to work. It unlocked with no problem.

I chuckled, "Too easy."

I stuffed the pin back in my hair and looked at all of the vials. "What the hell do these words even mean? Are they foreign?"

I heard the door to the outside break open and realized Dante actually went and busted it down. I quickly grabbed the first vial I saw and watched them appear quickly in the doorway with panicked expressions.

William rushed forward, "No! Stop!"

I downed the entire vial instantly. Dante rushed over and smacked my back, "Spit it out!"

I swallowed it and stuck out my tongue, "Done!"

William grabbed his hair, "Are you an idiot?!"

Dante grabbed the vial out of my hands and I just shrugged. I spoke calmly, "Smarter than you."

Dante turned pale instantly when he read the description, "Did you just drink all of this?"

I nodded, "Yup. Strange taste. Kind of burnt a little on the way down. Made my tongue all numb. Still better than tequila though."

William tilted his head, "Tequila?" He shook his head, "Nope. Not going to ask." He looked over at Dante noticing his dark expression, "What is it Dante?"

With a grim expression he passed it over. When William read it he also paled, "Y-you. You drank all of this?!"

I sighed, "Yes! Obviously! Why do you need to ask?"

William felt like ripping his hair out, "Oh my God. You're gunna die. Like actually die."

I waved him off, "I'm not going to die. I'm immortal."

He shrieked, "You most certainly are not!!"

Dante spoke in a low tone, "It's fast acting. She only has a few minutes."

"Why are you both acting so depressed? I'm fine. Really."

Dante looked at me and spoke in an oddly light voice, "We'll see."

We waited for several minutes yet nothing happened. I gave a smug smile, "See? Nothing."

Dante looked confused, "Strange."

William looked at the vial, "Maybe it's expired and is no good."

Dante sniffed it and made a face, "It's not."

William looked confused, "Then how...."

Dante could only shrug. I chuckled, "See? You two worry too much."

William shook his head, "You should be doubled over in pain. Not acting like this. Are you sure you feel okay?"

I felt my body, "Actually... Now that you mention it..." I grabbed my stomach and doubled over. I started groaning in pain.

They both rushed forward in a panic. William shouted, "What?! What is it?!"

I groaned, "My... My stomach.... It feels... It feels bubbly..."

*BURP*

I stood back up and smiled, "There that's better."

William and Dante both shuffled backwards quickly. William held his nose, "Y-YOU SAVAGE!! DID YOU JUST BURP IN OUR FACES?!"

I chuckled, "Sure did. How's it smell?"

William started shrieking as if his brain was frying, "YOU ILL MANNERED BEAST! DISGUSTING! DISRESPECTFUL! HORRID CREATURE!"

I laughed as William continued to hurl horrible insults at me.

Dante frowned, "Not cool."

I wiped a tear away, "Alright, I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. Seriously though, I feel fine."

William finally got control of himself, "Let's give it a few hours."

Dante agreed and we sat down. They continued to stare at me as if they were expecting me to fall over at any moment. I yawned from boredom. The next hours went by slowly.

I sighed, "See? I'm fine. Nothing's happened."

Dante looked at me closely, "Hmm.. Weird."

William thought deeply, "Maybe her stomach is strong enough to digest it? After all, the way she eats I wouldn't be surprised if she had a ridiculously strong stomach."

Dante nodded, "It would make sense."

I frowned, "Oi. Why are you both looking at me like that?"

William spoke, "It looks like all of those days stuffing your face ultimately made your stomach strong. Poison might not affect you if you ingest it."

My face lit up, "Are you saying I have a superpower?!"

William looked away nervously, "I wouldn't say superpower."

I jumped out of my chair and started cheering. The author has granted me the power of an iron clad stomach! Thank you author for your gift!

I stopped cheering and froze as if a horrible realization hit me. I shouted, "WAIT! I don't want THIS kind of power!!! WHAT GOOD IS IT?!"

When will I have to worry about eating poison?! There's no way that'll happen again!

F*ck!

Can't I have super strength instead?!
