The Side Character Turned Villainess Chapter 20

Finally, friday came after a grueling week. I thought Dante would go easier on me, but I was wrong. Instead, the workouts seemed to get harder with each day. I would be so exhausted that I could barely keep my eyes awake after dinner. This usually turned into Lona carrying my sleeping body. I'm surprised she could do it with no problem. I guess that's a benefit to being in the working class.
Either way, I was excited for the weekend to come so I could finally just lay in bed all day. Or more accurately, I really needed to take a trip to the red light district. My favorite novel just released another book and I needed to get it. That bookstore bozo said he would hold it for me once he got it and that was almost a week ago.
I wanted to go sooner but these workouts are particularly killing me. I usually go there at night, but since I've started I can barely stay awake after dinner.
It's okay. It'll all be worth it. No need to maim anyone. -Cough cough- William. He's not even to blame but I feel like blaming him.
After we arrived at their house, I was in high spirits. I couldn't wait to get today over with.
William looked at me critically, "Why do you look so happy?"
"Duh. It's almost the weekend. I get to be home and relax."
Dante smiled, "What makes you think that?"
"Huh? Say again?"
He chuckled, "Did you assume you would have the weekend off?"
I felt an anvil hit my head, "blaoahsb?" (gibberish)
He laughed at my pain, "Oh no. The agreement covered every day. On the weekend I have even more time to train you."
Train?! You mean torture?! Nooo! I can't keep doing this! If I don't show my face in the red light district I can't get my book! Not to mention the 'Black Death' title I worked so hard to create will just disappear!
"Are you upset? Do you want to give up?"
I glared at him. They would like that, wouldn't they?
I smacked my fist into my chest, "Never!!!"
"Then I guess you will have to come here on the weekend."
Hmmm. I bit my thumb trying to think of something. I smiled.
William sighed at this, "I have a bad feeling about this."
I ignored him, "How about a bet?"
Dante smiled, "What's your idea?"
"What's one thing that a knight should have?"
"Discipline." William said in a criticizing tone.
I replied flatly, "No. It's stealth."
Dante tilted his head, "Stealth?"
"Why bother wasting your strength and fighting an onslaught of people, when you can sneak around and take them out one by one?"

He thought for a moment, "I guess that does make sense."
"Exactly. So here's my bet. We will play hide and go seek. William will also be hiding. If you find me first, then you win. However, if you can't find me before dinner, you lose. Deal?"
"Hmm. I guess that makes sense. But what if I don't look for William at all?"
I shrugged, "There's always that option. However, if you do find him you can't lie about it. Knights honor."
He chuckled, "Fine fine. Are you sure you're willing to bet on this? William is really good at hiding."
I smiled confidently, "Trust me. I will be fine."
He nodded, "Alright. I accept this game of yours. However, I don't really get anything if I win."
"Fine. If you win you can decide what you want."
He smiled sadistically, "I accept this."
I swallowed a bit hard at his smile. I'm beginning to doubt my ability a bit. I shook my head. No! Don't get down. This is a matter of life and death. I need to win.
William crossed his arms, "Fine. I will play along since I'm interested in seeing you fail. However, we can only hide in the parts we've shown you. The other half of the manor is off limits."
I nodded, "That's fine. It's more than enough."
Yeah, this place is already huge so I'm not worried.
Dante smiled, "Alright then. Let's get started."
Dante started counting as me and William ran off in different directions. Lona stayed and sighed. She felt a bit anxious, but she couldn't ruin Seri's bet. She decided to stay next to Dante.
As I ran, I had one destination in mind. See, it's not a game about stealth as it is more about knowing your enemy. There's one place I'm sure that those two idiots are not familiar with and that's the servants area. We had walked past it on the tour and I noticed that William only mentioned this was where they did their chores. I'm sure they've never explored it before with an attitude like that.
I snuck along the servants making sure to remain unnoticed. The last thing I need is for them to tell Dante they saw me. Once I was in a good area, I looked for a perfect tree.
Ah! Perfect! It's large, tall, and has enough leaves to hide me.
I rolled up my dress and ran towards it. I used one foot to jump along the tree, and the next one I pushed off of the large trunk. I held my hands out and caught the limb. I swung myself up, then began to climb up the tree.
When I was a teenager in my last life, I thought parkour was really awesome. I tried to learn it, but I wasn't very good. However, I am now able to climb trees so it seems it wasn't a completely useless phase.

I got to a large limb and decided this was good enough. I laid out on my back. Ah, this is peaceful. I yawned. Maybe I can take a bit of a nap.
I stirred awake after hearing some whispers below me. I looked down to see a male servant talking to a female.
"How is it going?" The female whispered to the man.
"It's all set. We've infiltrated the kitchen successfully. Today is the day."
The girl fidgeted in worry, "Are you sure we won't get caught?"
"It will be okay. They will blame the girl. Currently, her family is talked about in the noble class for being manipulative. They won't be surprised if the daughter poisons the Prince."
Hold on. Just what the hell is going on here?
He continued, "They already distrust the merchant father and want a reason to kick their family out of the nobility. They will accept this."
She sighed, "Fine."
He nodded, "We will get revenge on the king today. I promise."
She looked down and spoke with a hint of sadness, "Yes."
He patted her shoulder, "After today, the king will know what it means to suffer."
Okay. This sh*t is exactly the kind of stuff that happens in novels. From what I understand, these b*tches are going to poison William and Dante at dinner? Oh, hell no. If anyone is going to ruin or poison those two, it'll be me.
And do they really think they can just put the blame on me? Like hell will I let anyone accuse me of something I didn't do.
The two of them walked away and I burned their appearances into my memory. I will make sure to pay them a visit later.
I sat back down on the limb and tapped my finger in anger. I had no idea that my family was the center of gossip within the Noble's social circle. I'm starting to realize that I really don't know anything about this world or the circumstances surrounding it. I really should pay attention more.
"I can't believe we seriously can't find her."
I turned to the sound of Williams voice. He was walking with Dante who seemed to be angry.
"I can't either. It's starting to piss me off."
William chuckled, "It's funny seeing you so angry."
"Shut up."
"Well you better find her fast. They will call us for dinner soon."
Dante looked over to Lona, "Do you know where she could be hiding?"
Lona sighed, "I have no idea. Little Miss has the habit of hiding when she doesn't want to do something and I can never find her."
Dante frowned, "Wonderful."
William looked over at the servants who were putting out laundry to dry, "Have you seen a small girl around here?"
"No, young master."
William looked back at Dante, "Well, there you have it. She's not here either."
Dante gritted his teeth, "She has to be. We looked everywhere else."
William chuckled, "Just admit defeat already."
Dante snapped at him, "Don't forget you owe me money because you bet she would only last three days of Knight training."
William shrugged, "You said you'd be surprised if she would even last a week."
These f*cking bastards bet against me?? Well I can't say I'm too surprised. I didn't think I'd last either.
Dante nodded, "I am a bit surprised myself. I thought she would at least cry."
Of course you would you satanic boy.
He continued, "Anyways, let's keep looking. I refuse to lose."
I smiled and bobbed my head. Hopefully after this they will stop underestimating me. A bell rang in the distance.
William spoke, "Well, that's the dinner bell."
Dante tightened his fists, "Shut up."
William teased, "That's means you lost~"
Yippee! I've won yet again!
I threw myself off of my napping limb narrowly avoiding the other branches. I landed on the ground in front of them and tossed my arms up. They all jumped at my presence.
"Tada~"
Dante tried to smile, but his face twitched at the effort. "You were up there this entire time?"
"Yup! Nice try though."
William glared at me, "You're covered in leaves again. Don't you have any dignity?"
I smiled triumphantly, "Dignity or not, I've still won and that's what matters."
Dante sighed and began plucking leaves off of me. "You won. You can have a day off every week."
"Huh? A day? I want the weekend off!"
"We didn't say anything about having the weekend off. Next time be more specific."
I glared at him. This little brat. Sigh. Oh well, I guess just one day off is fine. I'm afraid if I push him anymore he might snap. I didn't think he would be this sore of a loser.
I clapped my hands together, "Let's go get dinner. Shall we?"
William nodded, "Fine. Let's go, you glutton."
As I followed them a wry smile crossed my face. I'm looking forward to the dinner party tonight.
