Blood Evolution System Chapter 167

The best way to defeat the four giant skeletons was to trip them over and make them fall on their back, permanently immobilize them so that they can not move about, aiming each attack at their weakness – attacking the life core till it breaks.
"Let's start with making them all fall to the ground and immobilizing them," Vincent said wordlessly, his lips thinning into a smile and his eyes brightening up in a brilliant crimson hue as he came up with a sneaky and mind-blowing plan to defeat them.
He came up with a plan to defeat them while running away from one of the four aggravated giant skeleton warriors, sometimes moving back and forth to get out of the trajectory of its body slams, while most of the times dashing left and right and bending forward, lowering his body to dodge the slashes and swings of its sword respectively.
While he was dodging its attacks, the three giant skeleton warriors that have fallen to the ground stood up and started to chase after him, too, accompanying their look-alike in hunting him down.
Vincent, who was running away from one of them, saw that all four of them have started to go after him.
"It's time to initiate the first phase of my plan." He said with a smile on his face and suddenly stopped running away from them. To everyone's surprise, he turned around to face them and charged ahead, stomping his feet on the ground and moving towards them.
In merely a couple of seconds, he reached near them, and that's the very moment where they noticed that he is in the range of their attack. The four fools immediately raised their swords and then brought them down towards him.
The four gigantic swords cut through the air, bringing air currents down with them, putting a large amount of pressure on Vincent's body before they even reach near him.
He endured it in silence, standing his ground, waiting for the perfect moment to take a leap. The moment the swords were about several meters above his head, he pressed his feet against the ground and jumped towards the sword, almost making it seem like he was suicidal and jumping towards his death.

When Leilani, John, Nevis, and Iris, who happened to be taking care of the skeleton warriors, saw that he has jumped towards his death, a cold sweat broke out on their forehead, and their eyes opened so wide in horror that they nearly threatened to pop out of their sockets.
A skeleton warrior took this chance to make a sneak attack at John, but before its sword could reach his neck, a gunshot resounded, and a bullet landed on the hilt of its sword, changing the trajectory of the sword, causing it to miss John's neck by a hairbreadth.
That surely snapped John and the other back to reality, making them face their adverse situation. John immediately poured half a unit of battle energy in his arm and punched out, landing a punch on its rib and smashing the skeletons' life core, killing it.
Meanwhile, when the purple fairy Melody saw Vincent jumping towards their swords, her eyes widened in horror and surprise, and her face showed an expression of bewilderment as she was unable to understand why he did, what he did.
"What the hell? What is wrong with him? Why did he jump towards his death?! Is he suicidal? Has he given up on his life? Is he too tired and believe that he can't no longer continue fighting the waves of monsters, so he decided to take an early leave by dying to the swords of the giant skeleton warriors?!"
Vincent's crimson eyes reflected the four swords that were about to cut him to pieces. Yet, his eyes showed not even a single trace of nervousness, almost as if the swords weren't aiming for his life but thin air.
Just when the swords were about to reach him, he suddenly vanished, disappearing into thin air right in front of their eyes.
Ting! Ting! Ting! Ting!
The four swords clashed with each other, creating a disturbing sound. The impact released a shockwave and caused cracks to appear on the bony arms of the four giant skeleton warriors, making them hit each other with their own attack.
"What the! He pulled the same trick he used while fighting the Magic Mighty Golem. Damn that kid, making this grandma worry for no reason. Hiya~ just what kind of technique is he using, disappearing in the blink of an eye? What is he hiding?" Purple Fairy Melody mopped the sweat off her forehead with a shaking hand, relieved to see that the only challenger deserving of her master inheritance hasn't died.

In the very next moment, Vincent reappeared in his place, standing above the sword that pressed the swords of the other giant skeleton warriors below it.
"Time to make them fall to the ground!" Vincent revealed a smile as blood surged out of his back, taking the shape of thin yet solid threads. There were a lot of them, almost a thousand, and as they stretched out, moving from the uppermost sword to the sword pressed between all the swords, it looked like a red carpet cascading down from the skies.
[Blood Count: 20/50]
The thousands of red threads wrapped around the swords, packing them all together. Now, when the four skeletons tried to push their sword, they found out that they were unable to do so. After all, it was too heavy for them to lift their swords. Vincent had made it so that whoever tries to pick up their sword would face the weight of all four swords.
Although the giant skeleton warrior whose sword was at the top of the other three swords used all its strength to pick up its sword, it was unable to even make it budge. It felt almost as if its sword was pressed beneath a mountain. The same went for the others.
Of course, they could easily free their sword by tearing apart the red crystallized threads.
These monsters were mere brutes with overwhelming strength who uses a similar set of skills to attack him. Nothing more, nothing less.
Now that they were unable to wield their swords, the only skill they could use was a body slam.
Seeing Vincent dancing on top of their swords, the four giant skeleton warriors raged. They let go of their swords, wanting to kill him with whatever they could use, and the only thing that popped up in their mind at the moment was body-slamming him to death.
They pressed their feet against the ground, and the moment Vincent saw that, he retracted his threads, absorbing them back into his body.
[Blood Count: 50/50]
The four giant skeletons jumped towards him, charging straight towards not only him but also their swords.
"That's a nice way for stupid beings to commit suicide." Vincent smiled graciously, welcoming them to their death.
First off, though, he moved out of their way, leaving them to body slam their huge swords.
The four giant skeleton warriors fell on their swords, causing their bones to crashed down on them, and that led to them losing a lot of their bones, just more than enough for them to no longer be able to stand up on their feet as they didn't have enough bones on their legs to support their weight.
[Blood Count: 10/50]
Just for convenience sake, Vincent used thousands of threads to pull their hands behind their back, binding them together.
Now they couldn't attack him in any way, nor could they run away from him. From here on out, it was just him and their bony bodies.
Vincent jumped on the back of one of them as blood surged out of his palms, taking the shape of crimson swords.
[Blood Count: 5/50]
Vincent's crimson swords glistened under the light of the hall as he brandished them towards its back, landing one slash after another, shattering its bones one by one, inching closer to its life core every split of a second.
Before he knew it, he had shattered several dozen bones and reached its core, the place where he could see its life core connected to blue lines that stretched all across its body. He wondered what those were, but didn't let his curiosity interfere with his task.
He swung his swords, chopping apart the blue lines connected to the life core, and once he was done with that, he grabbed the life core and yanked it out from under the cage of its bones, pulling it out from the vessel of the giant skeleton warrior and into his hands, holding it tightly.

I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...

Glitched! Uplift Arc
[Winner of the April 22 Royal Road Writathon Challenge] In 2202 the System reached Earth. Thankfully it had learnt from previous uplifts and implemented an introductory arc to acclimatise the new participants rather than chucking them in the deep end. The previous practice of just dumping unsuspecting beings into a System designed for the growth of the multiverse had led to catastrophic and sub-optimal results. The return on investment was abysmal. That old trope was so over-cooked - after nearly extinguishing itself through negative returns new policy was required. That was 356 trillion local years back. Now over 5600 successful uplifts had joined the ranks of the multiverse. But the System was always learning, always growing. Still there were glitches. Mostly minor. Mere irritants really. Sometimes even they were catalysts, triggering a fresh expansion. Soon the System would understand why. Our Earth was 7912th. - Ascend - Battle - Challenge - Dominate - Expand - Gro... - Glor... - Where’s the eff word? - Glitch... File corrupted. ---END SYN---
