Cornered By The CEO Chapter 403

Yun Sui Bo's secretary sat at her desk, talking to others when her phone started to ring. She looked at the screen and smiled.
"Li Min, what are you up to?" she asked.
Li Min chuckled, pretending to be pleasant when she needed to pass on the message quickly. "I just wanted to ask a favor of you," she informed in a low voice.
"And what is that?" the other questioned, without any doubt in her mind about Li Min's intention.
"I need you to stop Mr. Yun from checking his email or messages. Is that possible?"
The secretary grew quiet. "What are you asking me to do?" she whispered, her eyes moving around to see if anyone was watching her.
"Just this. We need to stop him from communicating with other people and ruining your protest," Li Min said lightly. She didn't feel too guilty in duping the other.
"That… I can't do that. It's against my moral conduct as a secretary," she hissed.
"If you say so. But you aren't his secretary right now. He has done you wrong and enjoyed the benefits of money, hasn't he?" Li Min instigated. Her tone was level but coaxing. Li Min knew how Yun Sui Bo usually spoke to others so she didn't put too much emphasis on what Mr. Yun had done wrong.
It could be interpreted in many ways.
"I… need to think about this." The response was too quiet for Li Min's comfort. She knew not to press too badly or her intentions would be taken ill. So, she hummed and talked about other things not pertaining to Yun Sui Bo.
After a few minutes of gossiping, the secretary felt a lot better.
Her work phone rang and she looked at it with thinly veiled disdain.

She picked it up and pulled it to her ears.
"Yes, President Yun?" she spoke into it.
"Bring me some tea and snacks," he demanded. The secretary froze.
"Yes—"
Yun Sui Bo cut her off. "Could you run to that shop you brought cookies from last month?" he asked.
The secretary suddenly remembered that Mr. Yun had stolen a cookie from her when she had brought some for her colleagues. And the store was near her house! It was an hour away from the office.
"Sir… the store doesn't deliver here. It's out of range of delivery," the secretary informed softly.
"I am craving it. Don't tell me stories and get to work."
Just before he was about to hang up, the secretary heard him mutter under his breath. She knew he wasn't speaking to her, but the words pierced into her heart.
"Lazy."
She gulped and hung up the phone.
She had spent years working as his secretary and taking up the burden of running around and doing most of his work. He had never given her any perks or bonuses like she had heard Li Min get from Yun Qian Meng. She had not even received a shred of respect.
She looked around the room and saw people sitting and chatting, sharing meals and whatnot. But there she was, behind her desk, running around like a headless chicken at every whim of the President.
She was still working. At what cost?
She felt tears prickle her eyes.
If not for her family, to whom she needed to send money every month, she would have quit this job long ago. She wasn't compensated enough for her work or respected.
Mr. Yun treated her worse than an animal and she had a sneaking suspicion that it was because she was a girl.

She sniffed and put her head down on the desk.
In the traffic outside, the round trip would take her so many hours that she wouldn't even be back when he called to ask for his supper.
She pulled out her cellphone and went through the food delivery application. She picked the cheapest bakery with the lowest reviews and picked out a box that would cost her close to nothing.
'Let's see if the great Mr. Yun knows the difference!' she thought vengefully.
She shot Li Min a text saying the same. And the response was less than lukewarm.
[Ah. What a great revenge. He must be shaking in his boots. You are so evil.]
This was clearly teasing, but the secretary didn't take it to heart.
The cookies arrived within twenty minutes. And two big mails came at the same time. She looked at the unread email and then stared at the closed door.
She could delay telling him about the email for five minutes.
She placed the cookies carefully on a plate and added some tea along with it and knocked on the President's door.
She could feel the eyes of the others on her, but she didn't pay them attention.
She heard his consent from inside the room and walked in.
He was pacing inside the room, talking insistently and angrily into his phone. He barked at her to place the cookies on his desk and 'get lost.'
The secretary sighed and did as he said.
He was on the phone already, why would she disturb him with the news of an incoming email. And the mail was even titled like a spam email. Why should she inform him when he hadn't told her to look out for it explicitly?
She huffed and left the room.
From that moment onwards, she stopped working. She went over to the desk to make sure no messages came through. She sat close to the door and smiled as Mr. Yun's phone blew up and he had no time to look at his messages or emails.
The email was still unread and she took great pleasure in watching Mr. Yun struggle alone.
She pulled out her cellphone at the end of the night. It was midnight and Mr. Yun was still on the phone.
[He hasn't opened the phone yet.]
[Great. Thank you! Mind getting him to sleep? We wouldn't want Mr. Yun to collapse due to overwork.]
The secretary understood immediately. She knocked on the door with a small smile.
