Qingchen scoffed. "Absolutely not. Your father probably knew what kind of person Bai Ye Qing was. The drugs and the women. He wanted that. The Bais had a company that would bring him materials for less and it would balance his books, but the second son of the family was scum. He would definitely be caught in a scandal or go to jail. He wanted you to have a kid before Bai Ye Qing was prosecuted. Once you had the child, Bai Ye Qing could suddenly be convicted of multiple crimes. At that stage, Yun Sui Bo would only need to file for custody of the kid and say that you are an incompetent parent and incapable of taking care of your child."

Qian Meng wanted to roll her eyes but then she paused. "Because I was already married, he wouldn't have the right to control me… so he would control the child…" And suddenly it made sense.

It was a tactic commonly used amongst the filthy rich but she hadn't expected to be treated like a breeding cow.

"He really is a piece of shit, isn't he?" Qian Meng whispered. "I don't even care for his opinion and I wonder how he could even come up with such a devious plot." She shook her head, trying to clear it. "He doesn't want Venus for Yun Qing Yuan… he wants it to fund Yun Corporation."

Mo Qingchen nodded. "That is the inference," he said calmly.

Qian Meng started to laugh, even though it was humorless. "That asshole. It's not that he hated me for being a girl… he doesn't even love his son. He is using his children to make a quick buck."

Mo Qingchen watched as his wife slowly figured out how disappointing all of this was.

"What will you do now?" he asked.

Qian Meng mulled over this. "I have to go over every financial report I sat through and correspond it with the Bai corporation. I will have to call up and get information on all the problems secretly."

Mo Qingchen didn't respond.

"And then the war begins." She looked at the saddened expression on her husband's face and lifted her hand to caress his cheek. "Don't worry. This is not simply about revenge. I have a lot of money at stake here. I am not allowing a senile old man to ruin me and my surname," she growled.

A small smile flitted across his lips. "Ah, my wife is the sexiest when she is determined to bring down an established dynasty." He turned his face and pressed a kiss to her palm.

She pulled her hand back instantly, shocked at the sudden move. But then she giggled.

"You're going to back me up, right?" she asked. "I am going up against a prideful monster who had more money than me. A weakling like me can't overthrow the tyrant father that easily," she said jokingly.

Mo Qingchen chuckled. "I will be right behind you. But I don't think you need my help. Knowing you, you probably plotted it in your head until the very end."

He stopped and watched her. "So, what is the end goal?"

"The end goal?" she repeated. "Pluck out the poisonous weeds from the company my grandpa build with his blood, sweat, and tears. Turn the reigning general into my hunting dog. And when the hunting dog becomes friendly, I will make sure they are nothing but a harmless lamb who cannot threaten me or the company."

To others, this seemed like a bold statement without any backing. People would not realize what her plan was, but to Mo Qingchen, who knew his wife and her wicked methods like the back of his hand, the meaning was clear.

Qian Meng was going to initiate a hostile takeover of Yun Corporation. And while she did it, she would make the shareholders and her father feel grateful for her initiative.

The confidence in her voice filled her with pride.

"The war against your father begins, then?" he asked.

She nodded. "The best battles start in the middle of the night, when your enemy is sleeping, not knowing that threat is waiting right outside the window."

Mo Qingchen patted her head affectionately. "Stop waxing poetry. Get down to work. I don't want you working overtime. We finally settled into a normal routine, if this gets you overworked, I will be displeased."

She smirked. "You just want me to seduce you into sleeping."

He shrugged. "I do enjoy a good sleeping pattern and the idea that my wife brings out her feminine wiles to cuddle with me." He dropped down into bed and lay down.

The tell-tale sign of an email coming made him frown.

"I got the reports," she said quietly. Qingchen hugged her exposed thigh and pressed his face into her skin as the clicks filled the room.

His wife went through the reports of the past few years, her breathing growing harsh with anger at times. And then, finally, she clicked out.

"Done?" he asked.

"For now," she informed. "I already took action and sent out my little spies to get additional information. Let's see how long Yun Sui Bo can keep up with his ethical businessman act," she hissed.

"And what about the fallout? When the public finds out… It is not going to be good," Mo Qingchen said quietly.

"I am the queen of marketing and image management. Trust me. I know what to do." She paused. "For now, I am keeping everything under wraps. But when the time comes, I will reveal it to the world and make sure they trust the changes I will bring to Yun Corporation."

She watched as he rolled over and looked at her face. "Why does it feel like we are at a constant state of war?" he asked.

"Because the higher you go, the harder it becomes to stave off people with bad intentions," she answered.

"Shouldn't the threats stop at some point?" he groaned.

She chuckled. "For that, we will need to reach the very top. Where no one can even imagine harming a single strand of our hair." She eyed him curiously, wanting to see what his reaction would be.

"Well, it's time to reach the top, then. Let's make the world fear every going against us," he swore. He raised his hand to offer a handshake.

She took it without hesitation. "To world domination!" she said jokingly.

The implication was clear. Neither of them would stop until they stood at the top of the world. As equal partners.
