She returned to her bedroom but couldn't fall asleep for a long time. However, she still forced herself to sleep. She had to keep her energy in order to figure out who the real murderer was.

A minute after she had fallen asleep, she felt as the blanket got lifted up and suddenly, a gush of warmth spread around her.

She instinctively moved closer to the warmth and took a deep breath.

"You're back. . ." She said softly with her eyes closed, but she was fully awake now.

"Mhm. . ." The deep voice rang in her ear and a small smile appeared on her face. Her back faced him, and he wrapped his arm around her waist, grabbing onto her hand.

In the darkness, he gently kissed her ear, and He Xinyan couldn't help but shudder slightly from the sensitive touch.

Without saying anything more, the two of them fell asleep.

The two of them slept until it was in the late afternoon before they woke up together. They left the bedroom and when they walked down the stairs, they saw Gu Hanyu and Xu Mengya sitting together on the couch with grave expressions on their faces.

Besides them, there were several other people also inside the room.

Gu Yebei, Qin Lai, Qu Fei, and several other people He Xinyan seemed to remember slightly from her birthday party. . .

He Xinyan smiled softly as she looked over at Gu Hanyu and Xu Mengya, "Uncle Gu, Auntie Xu."

"Come here, Xinyan." Xu Mengya waved at her, and He Xinyan immediately walked over. Xu Mengya pulled her down onto the couch next to her and grabbed her hand.

"Gu Yechen told me," Xu Mengya said with a worried expression.

He Xinyan glanced over at Gu Yechen and she gently patted Xu Mengya's hand, "Don't worry, I'm fine."

"Xinyan, think about it. Who did you offend?" Xu Mengya's worried face turned into anger, "Who in the world has the audacity to try and hurt my daughter-in-law?!"

He Xinyan felt a warm feeling inside her body as she smiled sweetly. She knew that Xu Mengya was worried about her, but shouldn't Gu Yechen's problem be more of a concern at the moment?

"Don't worry, Auntie Xu. I am fine. Right now, the most important matter is figuring out how to prove Yechen innocent."

"Him? I'm not worried about him." Xu Mengya glanced at Gu Yechen, "If it weren't for the fact that the murderer's target was you, I wouldn't even come over here!"

". . ."

He Xinyan blinked her eyes a few times, not knowing what to say.

However, this also proved that Auntie Xu and Uncle Gu had faith and confidence in Gu Yechen. They knew that no matter what happened, he had the power and ability to handle it well.

Gu Hanyu looked up at Gu Yechen and said calmly, "Handle this matter quickly. Your mom and I are going to return to the Gu mansion for a while."

"Okay," Gu Yechen said softly.

He Xinyan looked between the father and son and pressed her lips together. These two men were both cold people.

The new year has just begun and a thing like this happens. . . That wasn't a very good start.

"Are you guys leaving soon?" He Xinyan asked as she knit her eyebrows together.

"Yes," Xu Mengya said with a smile. Suddenly, her eyes widened, "Why don't you come with me? I am so bored alone there! You can come with me and we can go to the best bar in that area together."

He Xinyan's mouth fell open. Was Gu Yechen really their biological child? He was a suspect of murder right now, and they didn't even seem to care. Furthermore, they wanted for her to leave as well and have Gu Yechen fight alone?!

"Mom, you have Mister Gu with you already, don't come and steal my woman." Gu Yechen suddenly stood up and pulled He Xinyan back to the place next to him.

Xu Mengya looked at her empty arm and glared at Gu Yechen, "She isn't your woman yet!"

"Who are you to say?" Then, Gu Yechen looked to He Xinyan and asked, "You say are you my woman?"

". . ." He Xinyan looked over at the angry Xu Mengya and then the sour Gu Yechen. Why did they always have to drag her into their mother-son fights?!

And, how was she supposed to answer that?!

Wasn't the main problem right now to talk about how they were going to deal with Gu Yechen's murder case? Weren't they "a little" off-topic?

"Auntie Xu, you're right." He Xinyan said as she looked at Xu Mengya with a grim smile, "I am not his person."

After speaking, she felt a cold air brush against the back of her neck. She couldn't help but gulp as she looked back at the cold eyes right behind her.

She lifted her head up and whispered into his ear, "At night, I am your woman."

Then, the coldness she was feeling slowly disappeared.

"You said so."

He Xinyan pursed her lips out, "Hmph! After marriage!"

Gu Yechen grinned. He had to hurry up!

Xu Mengya's smile grew wider and wider as she stared at the young couple in front of her. She then glanced over at her own husband and couldn't help but think back to when they were young.

They were just like her son and Xinyan. She moved over to Gu Hanyu and rested her small hand onto his large palm, interlacing their fingers together.

Gu Hanyu didn't have any reaction to his wife's actions, but he could not hide the overflowing gentleness in his eyes and facial expression.

"Hubby, let's go," Xu Mengya said gently to Gu Hanyu.

He nodded, "Okay."

The two of them stood up hand in hand, and He Xinyan immediately looked over.

She had thought that they were joking, and she was slightly surprised when they stood up and got ready to leave. She also jumped up, "Uncle Gu, Auntie Xu, you are really leaving?"

Gu Yechen's situation wasn't solved yet!

Gu Hanyu looked at the worried He Xinyan and said softly, "Believe in him. He can handle it well."

"Yes, Xinyan. Believe in Yechen! Not only will he be able to protect himself, but he will also protect you. If he can't protect you well, I will be the first one after him!" Xu Mengya threw Gu Yechen, who was sitting comfortably on the couch, an angry glare.

Although her voice was very stern, the lovingness and proudness of a mother towards her son in Xu Mengya's eyes and expression couldn't be mistaken.

In Xu Mengya's eyes, there was nothing her son couldn't do.

He Xinyan didn't know what to say, and she couldn't help but feel happy for Gu Yechen for having parents that were so proud of him. She also couldn't help but feel a little envious as she thought about her dead mother and. . . father.

As a child, everyone wishes for their parents to feel proud of themselves.

"Xinyan, remember to come and visit me whenever you can!" Xu Mengya said as she walked over to He Xinyan, grabbing onto her hands.

He Xinyan looked into Xu Mengya's sweet and sparkling eyes and couldn't say no, "Okay."

After Xu Mengya and Gu Hanyu left, the atmosphere in the room immediately became a little more cold and serious.

Gu Yebei pulled out all of the information he had found, "This is the list of all the guests that attended the party today, including a picture of them and information about them. I looked into every one, but none of them seem to have a motive for murder."

He Xinyan has never seen Gu Yebei act so seriously. Although they usually didn't show it, it was clear that the sibling relationship between Gu Yechen and Gu Yebei was very good.

He Xinyan carefully looked over everyone's pictures and profiles, but she had this weird feeling inside of her that was telling her something was wrong. . . Something was missing.

"These are images taken from the party, and here is the CCTV recording of the ballroom." Gu Yebei opened up his computer and began playing the recordings.

It began when everyone first entered the ballroom for the party. Then, they fast-forwarded to the murder and finally to when the police came.

"Murder me. . . Someone that wants to murder me. . ." He Xinyan said softly as she began looking through the profile of the guests at the party again.

The room turned silent as everyone began thinking. He Xinyan replayed the recording from when the cake was pushed in all the way until the murder happened.

Then, the lights closed and the computer screen was filled with darkness and the sounds of people screaming panically and asking what was happening.

Then, the lights turned back on and Gu Kexin was laying on the floor in her pure white dress that was now stained with dark red blood. Right next to her, Gu Yechen stood with blood dripping down his hand.

And a few feet away, there was the beautiful 6-layer cake designed and made just for Gu Kexin's birthday party. However, the birthday girl didn't even get to taste it and now she was dead.

He Xinyan replayed the scene of Gu Kexin's death several times, and she stopped after the 5th time. Her eyes narrowed as she looked up and stared at the corner of the computer screen.

"The cake. . . I figured it out!"
