Indeed, Gu Yechen didn't give face to anyone. Even if there were so many people watching and it was Gu Kexin's birthday, he still didn't hide his true feelings even the slightest.

Gu Kexin's face immediately paled as her eyes turned red.

The people next to her that noticed immediately comforted her, "Kexin, it's okay."

"Kexin, I could dance with you."

Gu Yechen walked straight past them, taking He Xinyan with him. He Xinyan's lips were tightly pressed together as she tried very hard to hide the smile that was slowly creeping up her face.

In the end, Gu Kexin agreed to dance with Gu Zihao in order to not lose too much face in front of all these people.

After the dance finished, the music came to a stop.

Everyone stopped what they were doing. The couples dancing separated and walked away from the dance floor, and the people talking also stopped talking.

The entire ballroom burst into a loud choir of people seeing the Happy Birthday Song along with the live instrumental players. People clapped their hands to the beat as they sang happily.

A smile finally appeared on Gu Kexin's face, but of course, the smile didn't reach her eyes.

At the end of the birthday song, the door to the ballroom was pushed open.

A worker pushing a huge cart walked in, and on top of the cart, there was a huge cake that was 6 stories tall.

Surrounded by all the people, Gu Kexin's smile widened slightly as she watched her birthday cake get pushed into the room and to where she was standing.

Gu Yechen and He Xinyan still stood very far from the large group of people, not really caring about what was going on.

"Kexin, make your wish!"

The group of people began encouraging Gu Kexin to make her birthday wish.

"Yes, Miss Kexin, make your wish!

He Xinyan raised one eyebrow as she scanned all the people inside the room. Who knew how many of these people were actually genuinely wishing Gu Kexin a happy birthday?

Gu Kexin happily stood in front of the huge cake that was taller than her and she folded her hands together in front of her. Her smile seemed to be more genuine now.

She was about to close her eyes when she suddenly opened them again.

She looked around the room, and her eyes landed on Gu Yechen.

"Gu Yechen, can you come over?" Her voice was very soft and sweet, but loud enough for everyone in the room to hear.

Gu Zihao, who was standing behind Gu Kexin, furrowed his eyebrows together.

He Xinyan looked up at Gu Yechen, not saying anything. Gu Yechen didn't move.

At this moment, everyone turned to look at Gu Yechen and He Xinyan. Some people's eyes looked annoyed, some were filled with admiration, and others were. . . complicated.

They were probably thinking, the man that the Gu family's granddaughter liked. . . Why didn't he even look at Gu Kexin?

Or they might be thinking, who is the woman standing next to that man? How dare she try to fight with Gu Kexin over a man?

Gu Kexin's expression darkened slightly when she saw that Gu Yechen didn't even move. He seemed to not have even heard her speak.

She blinked her large and round eyes twice, "Gu Yechen, can you come over? It. . . It is my birthday wish."

Her eyes sparkled under the lights, and many people couldn't help but feel a sense of pity towards her.

He Xinyan gently pinched Gu Yechen's arm, "You should at least make her wish come true."

"Thinking a wish will come true is the same as being delusional."

Even He Xinyan's mouth fell open upon hearing Gu Yechen's cold words.

All of the guest's expressions changed as the way they looked at Gu Yechen also changed. This man. . . Wasn't he way too arrogant?!

And, isn't it a little. . . No, a lot! Isn't it very impolite to say that in front of the birthday girl?

However, many women inside the room all thought that Gu Yechen's arrogant and cold attitude was very handsome and cool!

Plus, he was very handsome anyway.

He Xinyan noticed Gu Kexins face immediately turned as white as a paper. She knit her eyebrows together and had to admit that her heart softened slightly.

Gu Kexin was indeed a huge beauty, and today was the beauty's birthday. In front of all these guests, it was indeed a little impolite to put her in such an awkward situation.

He Xinyan was about to have Gu Yechen walk over maybe two steps. However, just before she could, Gu Kexin began walking over to where they were standing.

She also ordered the worker to push the cake over to them as well.

Gu Kexin stood in front of Gu Yechen and looked at him with sparkling and loving eyes. Then, she clapped her hands together, closed her eyes, and began making her wish.

Her beautiful lips curled up into a sweet smile, and it was clear from her facial expression just how beautiful her birthday wish was.

"Blow the candles out!" Someone shouted in the large group of people.

Gu Kexin opened her eyes with a wide smile on her face and gently leaned forward to blow out the candles on the cake.

As the candles went out, all of the lights inside the room suddenly closed.

"What's happening? It's so dark!"

"Is there a power outage?"

"No way!"

In the darkness, everyone anxiously spoke amongst themselves, wondering what was going on.

When the lights turned off, He Xinyan had grabbed onto Gu Yechen's hand. However, she was suddenly pushed aside forcefully.

"Gu Yechen. . ." She stumbled to the side a few steps and called out Gu Yechen's name when she couldn't feel his hand anymore.

Suddenly, the lights were opened again.

A few seconds later, there was a sudden scream in the crowd.

"AHH!! AHH!!"

As more and more people saw what had happened, the screams inside the room grew louder.

"Ahh!!!"

He Xinyan regained her balance and she immediately saw the reason for everyone's screams.

On the marble ground, a pile of bright red blood slowly grew larger and larger.

At the center of the blood, Gu Kexin laid motionless on the cold ground. The knife that was originally supposed to be used to slice the cake was now stabbed straight into her heart.
