Gu Zihao's eyes lit up, "Great! I have some business to get to for the next two weeks near the northern area over there. We can go together."

Gu Kexin was very happy to hear this because she was frustrated about having no one to be with over there. However, now since her "follower" was going with her, she would have someone to help her.

An hour later, the two of them left the Gu mansion with Gu Zihao driving the car.

Gu Zihao dropped Gu Kexin off in front of the Gu Corporation and followed her in.

Coincidentally, Gu Yechen and He Xinyan had also just arrived. He Xinyan was staying with Gu Yechen at work again today because she found it very interesting to watch him do work, and she learned a lot from doing so as well.

Four pairs of eyes met in the front lobby, and it wasn't exactly the nicest and pleasant sort of meeting.

"Brother Yechen," Gu Zihao greeted politely.

Gu Yechen nodded his head as a sign of acknowledgment, and Gu Zihao turned to look at He Xinyan, "Miss He."

"Nice to meet you again, Mr. Gu." He Xinyan looked over at Gu Kexin and chuckled softly, "I see that your eyes and brain have still not opened yet. That is quite unfortunate."

Gu Zihao frowned slightly and didn't reply.

Gu Yechen didn't have the time to waste talking to irrelevant people, and he and He Xinyan walked away and into the elevator.

Gu Kexin looked down at the ground and sighed.

Noticing that Gu Kexin was sad, Gu Zihao pressed his lips together but didn't say anything. It was like there were two people fighting with each other inside of him.

And he didn't know what to do now. . .

"Kexin, I will get going now."

Gu Kexin nodded gravely, "Okay, goodbye."

Gu Zihao looked at her for another second before turning around and leaving the building. Why did he even care about that woman's words? Why was he actually beginning to doubt his feelings for Gu Kexin?

He had liked her for over 10 years now, so why was this unknown and conflicting feeling beginning to build up inside of him now?

Was it really just because of He Xinyan's words?

--- One week later

Gu Kexin's birthday party took place inside a huge ballroom of a famous hotel in Country Z.

The distance of the hotel from the Gu mansion and from the Gu Corporation was about equal, and a ton of people from the upper class were invited.

As the "granddaughter" of the Gu family, Gu Kexin had many friends with the upper class family daughters, and therefore all of the guests were very influential people.

Everyone from the Gu family was also invited, but not many attended since they were all busy people. Gu Kexin wasn't angry about this either, because she wasn't extremely close to many of her "relatives" either.

To everyone's surprise, Wang Yani also chose not to attend her beloved granddaughter's 23rd birthday party. She said that she was getting old and didn't want to attend these noisy gatherings, and Gu Kexin didn't force it upon her.

After all, this was more of a gathering for young people, and it would be awkward if Wang Yani attended.

In the invitation list, of course Gu Yechen's name showed up.

The invitation arrived when Gu Yechen and He Xinyan were watching television together, so He Xinyan naturally saw it.

Gu Yechen took one glance at it and was about to throw it away when He Xinyan immediately stopped him.

"Let's go!" She said excitedly.

"What?"

"Why shouldn't we go? You got an invitation, and it is very, very impolite to not go," He Xinyan said sarcastically. In reality, she only wanted to attend with Gu Yechen to make Gu Kexin feel angry and annoyed on her special day.

Yes, He Xinyan was just that amazing and considerate!

Gu Yechen saw through her reasons right away, and he smiled as he nodded, "Okay."

The hotel was booked for the entire night, so the only people inside were the people invited to the party.

He Xinyan and Gu Yechen arrived inside the ballroom. At once, the laughter and chatter inside the room stopped as the people inside all turned to look at the couple that just walked in.

Several people covered their mouths to hide their gasps.

He Xinyan wore a red evening gown that hugged her beautiful body curves very well. Her long, silky straight black hair rested behind her shoulders. She had put on a thick layer of red lipstick, and with her mouth slightly open, it looked extremely sexy in the eyes of others.

She walked arm in arm with Gu Yechen towards the people inside the room.

Next to her, Gu Yechen was dressed in a completely black suit that also showed off his muscular body. The black color of the suit exemplified his pale, white skin very well, and it made his entire temperament seem more cold and almost angelic.

Underneath his tall and slim nose, the corners of his thin lips were slightly raised into a very attractive curve.

"Brother Yechen, you're finally here!" Gu Kexin's voice said excitedly as she made her way through the people. However, when her eyes landed on He Xinyan, the smile on her face immediately disappeared.

However, she still politely greeted her, "Miss He."

In front of all the guests, Gu Kexin couldn't directly say that He Xinyan wasn't invited, as not only was that rude, but it also wasn't something the daughter of an upper class family would do.

He Xinyan smiled as she responded, "In a few days, Miss Gu has gotten prettier."

Gu Kexin's lips twitched slightly, "Thank you."

At this moment, a girl who seemed to be in her teenage years walked over, wearing a short pink dress that puffed out. When she saw He Xinyan, she rolled her eyes and then looked over at Gu Yechen with a smile.

"You are the 'brother Yechen' sister Kexin talks about, right? I am finally able to see you in real life now! You are so handsome! Today is sister Kexin's birthday, what did brother Yechen prepare for sister Kexin?"

He Xinyan tilted her head slightly to look at Gu Yechen, whose lips were tightly closed.

"Shanshan!" Gu Kexin's cheeks turned slightly red as she grabbed onto the girl's arm, "The fact that he is here is the best present he could give me."

As she spoke, she looked over at Gu Yechen with sparkling eyes.

Hearing Gu Kexin's cheesy words, He Xinyan couldn't help but shiver slightly as she looked down to prevent anyone from seeing her mocking smile.

They are really doing a good job in not acknowledging her presence.

But that was her purpose in coming! To annoy this bunch of people.

"Brother Yechen, why didn't you tell me that today was Miss Gu's birthday? That way, I would have prepared a birthday present for her." He Xinyan said with a voice higher than usual as she wrapped her hand around Gu Yechen's arm.

The words "brother Yechen" caused Gu Yechen to raise his eyebrows as he looked down at her. He licked his lips as a small grin crept up her face.

Hearing He Xinyan call Gu Yechen by her "special name", Gu Kexin's face darkened slightly.

Gu Yechen reached down and grabbed onto He Xinyan's hand gently, "Miss Gu is the treasure of the Gu family. She might not like the presents we give her, as she has everything. So, instead of making a joke out of ourselves, I think it is the thought that counts."

It was very hard for He Xinyan to stop herself from laughing hearing Gu Yechen talk nonsense.

Gu Kexin was the treasure of the Gu family, but wasn't Gu Yechen even more important?

"Miss Gu, happy birthday. I wish you good health and success this next year." He Xinyan said with a smile.

The expression on Gu Kexin's face got uglier and uglier, but she still had to reply, "Thank you."

Gu Yechen's eyes finally landed on Gu Kexin for a quick second before he pulled He Xinyan away towards the tables of food.

Everyone attending this birthday party was invited by Gu Kexin, so the people here today were mostly her friends. There weren't any elders, so the atmosphere was much more relaxed.

He Xinyan picked up a plate of macarons as her eyes looked over at Gu Kexin, whose posture was weirdly stiff. She took a small bite of the macaron and couldn't hold her laugh in anymore.

"What are you laughing about?"

He Xinyan cleared her throat and tried to maintain a straight face, "Imagine how Gu Kexin must be feeling right now."

"What?" Gu Yechen frowned.

"What what? She must be so annoyed hahahaha! She had sent you an invitation, so I'm sure she didn't expect you to bring me too. Hahaha!"

Yes, He Xinyan took pleasure in making others annoyed. . . . Well, others being very specific people.

It has become her new favorite hobby. She was just such a considerate and nice person.

"You're happy about it, my dear sister Yanyan?"
