"Mr. Gu, I am not exactly sure I understand you. Why would you ask me? I am sure everyone here today saw what happened. I didn't do or say anything! Why is it me that is making the mood unpleasant?"

". . ." Gu Yechen's second uncle gulped as he looked around the room. Indeed, He Xinyan hadn't done or said anything during this entire meal.

Even when Wang Yani purposely talked bad about her, she didn't respond angrily or give any response at all!

Although they all knew that He Xinyan was the cause of Wang Yani's anger, they really couldn't say anything in response!

Because she indeed didn't do anything! What could they say?

Gu Yechen's second uncle sighed and glanced at Gu Yechen angrily before marching out of the dining room. Shortly after, everyone else followed.

After finishing their main course, Gu Hanyu turned around and looked at the worker inside the room. A few seconds later, four plates of dessert were placed on the table in front of them.

He Xinyan's eyes immediately lit up as she lifted up the plate and began eating as she continued to listen to Xu Mengya talk.

After eating a very "happy" lunch, He Xinyan and Gu Yechen returned to their room.

Gu Yechen sat down on his couch and began doing work, whereas He Xinyan moved onto the bed and began watching videos on her phone.

After finishing a video, she looked up to see Gu Yechen focused on his work. She closed her phone and leaned her head onto her hand as she stared at her man.

Ahh. . . Indeed, the famous phrase was accurate.

A man looks the most handsome when he is focused.

It took a few minutes until Gu Yechen finally noticed the pair of eyes looking at him, and he looked up amusedly. He closed his laptop as he stood up and walked over to the bed, laying down next to He Xinyan.

"What are you looking at?"

He Xinyan snuggled up against Gu Yechen's warm chest, "You."

Although Gu Yechen knew that He Xinyan was looking at him, he still smiled happily at her reply.

"Why are you looking at me?"

He Xinyan looked up at Gu Yechen and scoffed, "You are handsome! Very handsome!"

And that was exactly the answer Gu Yechen was looking for!

A plus! 100 percent, He Xinyan!

"And you are beautiful," Gu Yechen said with a wide smile on his face as he bent down and kissed He Xinyan on the forehead.

He Xinyan's cheeks turned slightly red as she pressed her lips together, unable to hide her smile.

"Go do your work!" He Xinyan chuckled as she pushed Gu Yechen off the bed and picked up her phone again to continue watching her drama.

The next day, He Xinyan woke up early in the morning because it was so, very, cold!!

She shivered as she moved closer to Gu Yechen in search of warmth. Gu Yechen was still deep asleep and the coldness didn't seem to bother him at all.

After deep consideration, He Xinyan decided to do it!

She was going to venture into the coldness!

He Xinyan took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a second, reopened them, and suddenly lifted her side of the blanket off of her.

In one swift movement, she jumped off the bed, ran over to the thermostat, quickly turned it up several degrees, ran back to the bed, jumped onto it, and covered her body up with a blanket again.

She thought she was very swift, quick, and silent, but. . . it wasn't.

The movement and noise woke Gu Yechen up, and he blinked a few times before looking at He Xinyan, "You're awake?"

He Xinyan moved closer to him and guiltily nodded her head, "Sorry, did I wake you up?"

Gu Yechen smiled and shook his head, "Are you cold?"

"Yes. . . very. . ." He Xinyan pursed her lips out and hugged Gu Yechen tightly. "But I turned up the temperature already!"

Gu Yechen wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her in so almost every part of their bodies was touching and he pulled the blanket up.

"Is this better?"

He Xinyan gulped from the intimate contact as she slowly nodded her head.

"It's still early. Go to sleep."

They both closed their eyes again, and the next time they opened them, it was time for breakfast already.

Gu Yechen got out of bed first and got ready before walking back to the bed with He Xinyan's clothes for the day.

"Hehe, thank you!" He Xinyan slid down under the blankets and changed out of her pajamas and into her clean clothes before hopping out of bed.

If she had changed in the open air, she would freeze to death!

The temperature here dropped very quickly. Just yesterday, it was still fine, cold enough to bear. However, today, the temperature seemed to have dropped at least ten degrees.

It was extremely cold, and since the part of Country Z she lived in was usually quite warm, it was very hard for He Xinyan to get used to the temperature.

It never snowed in the area she lived, and winters were usually not extremely cold either.

However, since this was in the far, far north, it was much colder than the other parts of the country.

Although both Gu Yechen and He Xinyan were unwilling to do so, they went to the main dining room to eat breakfast with the rest of the Gu family.

Although the food was normally extremely good, the dishes today seemed to be even better.

Since it was New Year's Eve, all of the food was designed using bright and cheerful colors, and the plating of the food was also very exquisite.

Only after Wang Yani began eating did everyone else also pick up their chopsticks and began eating.

After tasting each dish, He Xinyan would whisper to Xu Mengya about how delicious each dish was and which dish was better.

However, after discussing two dishes with Xu Mengya, she realized that a vinegar tub right next to her had broken.

He Xinyan gulped and glanced at Gu Yechen before shooting him a smile.

Starting from the third dish, she would first talk to Xu Mengya and then turn the other direction to talk to Gu Yechen to be fair.

After the meal, Gu Yechen and He Xinyan were the first to leave, and Gu Hanyu and Xu Mengya were quick to follow.

Gu Yechen's third uncle furrowed his eyebrows together, "Big brother and Gu Yechen are really getting disrespectful. It is New Year's Eve and no one has left yet."

Wang Yani's smile disappeared slightly upon hearing this, and Gu Yechen's second uncle quickly spoke up after noticing.

"It's okay, brother. Let them be."

Gu Yechen's third uncle frowned before taking a sip of the tea in front of him.

Gu Yechen and He Xinyan followed Gu Yechen's parents to their room after breakfast after Xu Mengya offered for them to play cards together since there was nothing else to do here.

The four of them sat around the living room table and Gu Hanyu took out a new deck of playing cards. They decided to play the famous card game Dou di zhu (*a famous Chinese card game), catching He Xinyan by surprise.

She looked over at Gu Yechen, who was sitting next to her and raised one eyebrow, "You know how to play?"

Gu Yechen grinned as he began grabbing cards, "Of course!"

He Xinyan's eyes widened as she reached for her card. She had expected their hobbies to all be like golf, horseback riding, archery, and all those upper-class activities.

Who knew that the almighty king Gu Yechen knew how to play cards?!

Unbelievable!
