"The air quality here isn't good, let's go back."

Gu Hanyu and Xu Menga looked over at their son and didn't say anything. If he was going to leave, then they were not going to stay anymore either.

"We are eating lunch soon, where are you going?" Wang Yani sternly said without any warmth.

Gu Yechen didn't even look over at his grandma as he coldly replied, "How could people like us without a good upbringing eat lunch together with people like you?"

Gu Linglan's face immediately reddened as she embarrassedly looked down, "Brother Yechen, I wasn't talking. . . about you."

She glanced up at Gu Yechen and quickly looked back away nervously. His cold eyes were too scary. . .

He Xinyan quietly stood next to Gu Yechen and didn't say anything. Usually, she would stand up for herself. However, she was just an outsider here.

It would be bad for her as an outsider to stir up more problems. Plus, she had someone helping her.

Gu Yechen narrowed his eyes, "You aren't talking about me? Then who are you talking about?"

"I. . ." Gu Linglan looked down again and didn't know what to say.

"Yechen, she's your younger sister. Linglan is still young and immature, so she is a little straightforward. She doesn't mean anything else." Gu Linglan's mother spoke up to save her daughter, "And, you two should stay. It is your grandma's birthday today. At least stay for a meal."

She then turned to look at He Xinyan, "Miss He, it is rare for our family to get together for a meal. Let's not get mad over small things like this, right?"

The confusion in her expression was so convincing, it was almost like she actually didn't understand the hidden meaning behind Gu Linglan's words earlier.

". . ." Gu Linglan's mother, Li Xinqu, awkwardly looked down.

He Xinyan scoffed internally. It seemed like no one in this family wanted to see her here. Maybe just the fact that she was standing here was very disturbing and annoying to them.

She smiled and looked up at Gu Yechen, "Yechen, auntie spoke. She said that it is rare that everyone in the family is together. How about let's eat first before we leave. Didn't you say the chefs here are descendants of the chefs of the imperial kitchen? I want to taste the food here as well!"

He Xinyan wrapped her arm around Gu Yechen's arm with a sweet and innocent smile.

Halfway through the meal, Wang Yani put down her chopsticks and looked down at Gu Yechen and He Xinyan.

She cleared her throat and said sternly, "Gu Yechen, some women are just meant to play with for a short time. However, I will never allow you to bring an irrelevant woman back to the Gu mansion ever again."

He Xinyan's hand froze midair for a second before she put down her chopsticks. Wow. . . the old lady was indeed not an easygoing or merciful person.

Even if everyone sitting here was part of the Gu family, it was still not very. . . considerate of her to talk to Gu Yechen like that in front of everyone.

Gu Yechen was not a very. . . good person.

Because of the old lady's words, the originally decent atmosphere inside the room immediately became cold, almost as if the air inside the room had been sucked away.

This is the first time Wang Yani has ever spoken so harshly towards Gu Yechen.

He Xinyan did nothing wrong. Even if she did, it was because of Gu Yechen's favoritism towards her that aroused the old lady's dislike towards her. Because. . .

Gu Hanlin knit his eyebrows together but didn't say anything.

Out of the three of them, Gu Hanyu was indeed the most capable and the most powerful. Gu Hanlin never liked this, and he had always tried to find a way to push himself up, but he never succeeded.

Gu Hanqi, Gu Yechen's third uncle, didn't like to fight. He was a simple and easygoing person and normally didn't have a strong opinion.

Gu Hanyu had inherited the Gu family's original business as a worker for the government. Most people say that government workers were double-sided and knew how to lie and hide their true feelings.

However, Gu Hanyu wasn't like that. He was a cold person inside and out. The people he liked, he would definitely help them. The people he didn't like. . . Even if they kneeled down in front of him and begged him, he would still not pity or help them even the slightest.

And his son, Gu Yechen, had inherited this cold trait from him.

Wang Yani knit her eyebrows together and frowned. She took a deep breath before angrily saying, "Well! Well! Very well!"

She then angrily turned around and marched away. Behind where she was sitting, there was a door. And behind that door, led to the rooms of all the people in the family.

"Grandma. . ." Gu Kexin looked at everyone in the room, her eyes stopping on Gu Yechen before she ran out after Wang Yani.

He Xinyan saw how Wang Yani shook unstablely as she walked out. She couldn't help but worry if she will be able to stand her children and grandchildren treating her like that.

She was also curious why Gu Yechen and his father's attitude towards Wang Yani was so cold?

However, it was none of her business.

Since Wang Yani was gone, Gu Hanlin and Gu Hanqi's families also left, so only Gu Yechen's family and He Xinyan were left inside the large room.
