He smiled at her before walking out of the meeting room.

Bai Jiawei marched out of the meeting room with Li Huiran, Li Yuyan, and the shareholders who voted for her following behind.

One of the shareholders ran forward, "Chairman Bai, what do I do? Miss He will definitely not like me now. Chairman Bai, I followed your directions! You have to help me!"

Bai Jiawei stopped walking and frowned, "Why?! Do you all think I lost?! Do you think my power in this company is gone now?!"

Li Yuyan stepped forward, "Dad! There is no need to get mad at them. Blame He Xinyan!"

Bai Jiawei looked towards the meeting room and nodded his head in agreement, "That unfilial daughter! Does she really think that she can take away the company that I created?! She's too naive!"

The shareholders pressed their lips together and looked down, but they didn't say anything. They all knew that the person who created the company was actually He Xinyan's grandfather.

He had said that he wanted his granddaughter, He Xinyan, to take over the company in the future. Bai Jiawei was only a temporary leader, and He Xinyan would take over once she was skilled enough to do so.

"Don't forget. I am still a large shareholder of the He Corporation! I am still the chairman! No one can take this from me!"

The shareholders nodded their heads in agreement, and Li Yuyan also took a step forward.

"Yes, dad!"

Bai Jiawei turned around to face the meeting room, and he pointed one finger towards that direction.

"And those other shareholders. . . One day, I will make them know what a stupid decision they made today! Especially that Yi person! I will definitely make him regret his decision today!"

The shareholder that was complaining in the beginning nodded his head, "Chairman Bai, we all believe in you. We will support you!"

"Hmph!" Bai Jiawei stomped off and the shareholders followed.

Li Yuyan and Li Huiran stood there for a few seconds before also walking away.

"Yay!!" He Xinyan stood up and held her glass of wine, "Cheers!"

Gu Yechen, Gu Yebei, and Wu Minger all stood up and raised their glasses up before finishing all the contents inside with one gulp.

He Xinyan sat down and reached over the table to pour herself another glass.

Upon seeing this, Gu Yechen leaned over and whispered into her ear.

"Don't drink too much. If you are drunk, I can't promise that I will be able to control myself tonight."

He Xinyan's hand froze for a quick second, but she continued to pour herself another glass.

"Ch! You were able to control yourself when I was drugged, so I'm pretty sure you can when I am drunk!"

Although she said that, she stopped drinking so much at once, and only took one small sip once in a while.

Gu Yechen grinned and rubbed the back of her head gently. He wasn't actually going to take advantage of her, but he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable the next morning from the alcohol.

"You two, stop acting so romantic!" Wu Minger said sourly and pouted.

He Xinyan grinned, "You aren't one to say! You have a boyfriend too!"

Gu Yebei smiled and wrapped his arm around Wu Minger's waist.

"Let's go play on the beach after we are done eating!" Wu Minger proposed.

The three of them quickly agreed.

After Wu Minger and Gu Yebei left, it was late into the night already.

He Xinyan stayed at Gu Yechen's mansion, because who knew what would happen if she returned. Bai Jiawei had no reason to be mad that she became CEO, but obviously, he was.

He Xinyan smiled as she brushed her teeth. It seems like he couldn't hold in his true feelings anymore.

After they had both got ready, He Xinyan and Gu Yechen laid down on the bed.

She crawled into Gu Yechen's embrace and took a deep breath. It seemed like forever since they last slept together.

She missed him being next to her. She missed his warmth, his smell. . . She missed him.

"Baby, I missed you," Gu Yechen muttered in the darkness as he kissed her forehead.

"Me too. . ."

There were several seconds of silence before Gu Yechen spoke again.

"You know how you asked me to investigate who was behind the accident?"

He Xinyan nodded.

"You were right. Someone was indeed behind the accident. In fact, it isn't an accident because it was planned."

He Xinyan looked up and the fatigue she was feeling disappeared, "Who is it?"

Who hated her so much that they wanted her dead. For now, her guess was Li Huiran or Li Yuyan, but she couldn't be sure.

Gu Yechen knit his eyebrows together slightly before saying, "Xinyan, I figured out who it is, but there isn't sufficient evidence to report them to the police, because the driver of the truck was killed, so he can't act as a witness. I'm guessing the person that killed the driver is the same person who tried to kill you."

"Just tell me who it is."

". . .Bai Jiawei.

He Xinyan's brain immediately went blank, and she almost thought she had heard wrong.

She knew that Bai Jiawei didn't trust her anymore. . . He also didn't like her as much as before, because she was being more distant from him.

However, she would have never thought that he would try and kill her!

She was his daughter! His biological daughter!

Even if He Xinyan knew that Bai Jiawei wasn't a good person, she didn't think that he would try and kill his own child.

"Xinyan. . . Yanyan!" Gu Yechen frowned and gently grabbed onto her hand. He would definitely destroy Bai Jiawei into pieces, but he knew that He Xinyan would want to do the same by now.

He wasn't going to do it for her. After all, the person Bai Jiawei hurt deeply was He Xinyan, not him. She would want to take revenge.

After a while, He Xinyan recovered from her shock, and she squeezed out a smile, "Thank you for telling me. Let's go to sleep."

Gu Yechen didn't say anything and gently kissed her on the forehead before watching her sleep.

Although He Xinyan's eyes were closed, she could not fall asleep.

She was deep in her thoughts as she clenched her fists tightly.

'Why should I be surprised? I should have guessed! He could kill my mom, so he can also kill me.' He Xinyan pressed her lips together and moved a little closer to Gu Yechen.

It was time to get rid of them.

The next morning, He Xinyan woke up to find that the spot next to her was empty.

She rolled out of bed and walked down the stairs. The wonderful smell of breakfast got stronger and stronger as she walked closer and closer to the dining room.

When she arrived, Gu Yechen walked out of the kitchen with a large bowl of soup.

"Good morning. Come eat." Gu Yechen sat down after taking off the apron, and they ate breakfast together.

As they ate, He Xinyan suddenly remembered something and she looked up.

"Oh, right! You know how a kind person saved me after I got into an accident?!"

Gu Yechen looked up and nodded, "Yes. Who is it? I should go thank him."

He Xinyan frowned, "His name is Yi Shao. He lives near the ocean on this. . . mountain? Cliff? He's really kind though, and we have many things in common."

Gu Yechen couldn't help but feel a little sour and jealous that He Xinyan was complimenting another man, but he kept it in because the man did save her.

"And, guess what?! He is a shareholder of the He Corporation! I had no clue! He never told me until I saw him yesterday!"

Gu Yechen frowned slightly. It was rare for someone from another country to invest in a company from another country. Especially a company of the He Corporation's size.

"And he has silver hair!" He Xinyan added, "If I do meet him again, I should thank him. Not only did he save me, but he also helped me recover."

Gu Yechen put down his chopsticks and knit his eyebrows tightly together. Yi Shao. . . silver hair? And a shareholder of the He Corporation?

Gu Yechen pulled out his phone and texted Chen Xiao under the table.

"Investigate someone called Yi Shao from Country X."

After breakfast, He Xinyan decided to return to the He mansion to change and get ready before going out on a date with Gu Yechen.

She stopped in front of the large house and looked up. It had been a long time since she had last been here.

She took a deep breath before walking into the house. Bai Jiawei had already left for work, and only Li Huiran and Li Yuyan were at home.

She walked in and she saw Li Huiran walk down the stairs. Li Huiran clenched her teeth together when she saw He Xinyan, but she still forced out a smile.

Li Huiran was also furious that at the last second, her daughter's position as CEO was stolen by He Xinyan! He Xinyan should be dead! Why was she still here to make life difficult for her and her daughter?!

Li Huiran walked down the stairs and over to He Xinyan.

"Xinyan, you're back!"

He Xinyan smirked and looked around. Nothing much has changed.

"Welcome back, Xinyan."
