He Xinyan's smile disappeared and she couldn't recover from her shock for several seconds.

Lu Yingjun stared at her with a slight grin and patiently waited for her response.

Finally, she chuckled and leaned back against her chair, "President Lu, stop joking around. What is your actual term?"

"That is my actual term." Lu Yingjun said calmly.

He Xinyan grinned, "President Lu, I have a boyfriend, and our relationship is very stable. I hope you can take back this condition. I can agree to a different one."

"Miss He, I'm very fond of you. I don't know if you remember, but we have met before."

He Xinyan knit her eyebrows together in confusion.

Lu Yingjun leaned back against his chair and crossed his arms together, "You attended XX Film University, right?"

"Yes."

"If I remember correctly, you should have been in your second year when I saw you. I visited your school to give a special lecture on the entertainment business."

Although He Xinyan's university was a film school, they also had a major in the film business. He Xinyan specifically remembered that she had attended a special lecture once with Su Zhiming, because he was in the business major and he dragged her there with him.

However, she had also learned a lot from that lecture about business and how things ran in the entertainment industry.

He paused and waited until He Xinyan's eyes widened in surprise before continuing.

"I remember you sitting in the fifth row during the lecture. You were very smart."

He Xinyan's mouth opened slightly. No way. . . He didn't like her because of that lecture, right?!

She didn't remember much from the lecture because it happened in her past life, so it was several years ago. However, she did remember that she spoke up and participated a lot.

"I was really interested in you. Your ideas were really good."

He Xinyan chuckled awkwardly, "President Lu, I was just saying random stuff."

"Miss He, no need to be humble. I know you are a smart woman. I am confident that you will become the CEO of the He Corporation. Also, if I am correct, you are the only heir to the He Corporation. It is quite interesting how your stepsister is also in the competition."

He Xinyan grinned slightly, "Thank you, President Lu."

"You can win this round easily. I really like you, Miss He," Lu Yingjun said as he smiled at He Xinyan, "So, do you agree to the last term?"

He Xinyan grinned and put the proposal back into the bag. She slowly pushed her chair back and stood up.

"President Lu, I am very sorry but I cannot agree to this condition. I am sure that there will be another way for us to work together."

Lu Yingjun frowned as he watched He Xinyan walk out of the room and close the door.

He sighed and closed his eyes.

After the meeting, He Xinyan didn't return to the company. Instead, she went to a different company.

She stopped her car in front of the large building and walked in. The front desk worker didn't stop her as she walked to the elevator and up to the top floor.

However, when she stepped out, the guards stopped her.

"Miss, who are you?" One guard asked cautiously.

He Xinyan glanced at the guard and smiled, "I am President Gu's friend."

"Friend?" The guard eyed He Xinyan up and down and frowned. President Gu didn't have many friends, and he knew all of the ones that came to visit President Gu.

This woman. . .

At this moment, Chen Xiao walked out of the meeting room and ran down the stairs. His eyes widened when he saw He Xinyan.

"Mrs. Gu!"

He Xinyan raised one eyebrow at Chen Xiao, but didn't bother correcting him. He wouldn't change it anyway.

"Mrs. Gu?" The guard asked.

Chen Xiao glared at the guard, "Remember! This is Mrs. Gu, He Xinyan. If she comes in the future, just let her into President Gu's office."

The guard bowed down slightly, "Yes! I apologize, Mrs. Gu."

He Xinyan chuckled, "No worries. You didn't know."

Chen Xiao led He Xinyan into Gu Yechen's office and brought her a cup of tea, "Mrs. Gu, President Gu is in a meeting right now. He should be done in about half an hour. Should I call him for you?"

"It's okay. Let him finish his meeting."

Chen Xiao nodded, "If you need anything, just press 1 on the landline phone. An assistant will come in to help you."

"Thank you." He Xinyan had to admit that the treatment of 'Mrs. Gu' was indeed very good. She licked her lips and walked over to the landline phone.

Like Chen Xiao said, after clicking 1, an assistant walked into the room a few seconds later.

"Mrs. Gu, how can I help you?"

"Last time I came, someone got a whole cart of food and snacks. Do you still have food?"

The assistant thought for a second, "I'll be right back."

About a minute later, he came back with a large bag of snacks.

"I'm very sorry, Mrs. Gu, but we don't have the food yet. It might take a few minutes. There are some snacks though."

He Xinyan's eyes sparkled from the snacks, "It's okay, I can wait! Thank you very much."

She ate for 20 minutes before the food and desserts came. He Xinyan vowed to visit Gu Yechen's company more often.

Not for him, but for the food!

She had eaten for almost an hour when the door opened. She stopped the video she was watching and turned around, still holding on to the macaron she was eating.

"Yechen!" She said happily. However, Gu Yechen didn't seem so happy.

With a serious expression, he walked over to the couch and sat down next to her.

"Did you wait long?"

He Xinyan swallowed the rest of the macaron, "Not really. I was eating."

Gu Yechen looked at the empty plates, and a gentleness returned to his eyes.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here so I extended the meeting." Gu Yechen gently brushed her hair to the back of her ears.

"It's okay." He Xinyan said as she finally stopped eating.

Gu Yechen turned around and glared at Chen Xiao, who was standing guiltily at the edge of the door.

"Your bonus this month is gone."

Chen Xiao dropped his head dejectedly, but didn't say anything. However, someone else did. There was a sharp sound as He Xinyan slapped Gu Yechen's leg.

"Why?!" He Xinyan glared at Gu Yechen, who stared at her confusedly.

"Because. . . because he didn't tell me you came, so you had to wait."

He Xinyan clicked her tongue, "I told him not to tell you! Now give him his bonus back!"

Chen Xiao blinked his eyes a few times in surprise. Wow! Mrs. Gu was awesome!

Gu Yechen looked into He Xinyan's stern eyes and sighed, "Okay. . ."

He turned around and said slowly, "Your bonus is back."

"Thank you, President Gu! Thank you, Mrs. Gu!" Chen Xiao was so happy he bumped into the door as he skipped out of the office and went back to work.

He Xinyan couldn't help but laugh at Gu Yechen's sad and cute expression, and she reached up to gently pat him on the head as a sign of comfort.

Gu Yechen felt a little better from her action, and he lifted her up onto his lap.

"Why are you here?"

He Xinyan cleared her throat and pretended to cry, "I'm going to lose the first round of the competition for you!"

Gu Yechen raised one eyebrow, "Why?"

He Xinyan wiped away a nonexistent tear and sighed, "I went to go meet the CEO of the Lu Corporation today, and he was really pleased with my proposal. However, he said he wants to add one more term if I want to win. You know what the term is?"

"What?"

He Xinyan closed her eyes dramatically, "I am just too attractive, and he said that he fell deeply in love with me! He said that I have to be his girlfriend!"

At once, the temperature in the room dropped drastically and Gu Yechen's facial expression turned ice cold.

He Xinyan seemed to notice something was wrong and she slowly blinked her eyes open.

"Um. . ." Was her act a little too much? Uh oh, she shouldn't have told him.

He Xinyan gulped and chuckled awkwardly, "Of course I didn't agree, hahaha. . . I would never agree! Am I stupid? Why would I give up a Gu Yechen just for a stupid competition!"

Gu Yechen's expression slightly recovered after hearing that, and he looked at her.

"The CEO of the Lu Corporation?"

He Xinyan heard the danger in Gu Yechen's tone, but she had no choice but to sacrifice Lu Yingjun, "Yes. . ."

"Very well, very well. . ." Gu Yechen said with a smirk.

He Xinyan felt a chill run down her spine as she jumped up, "Um. . . you should go back to work."

He Xinyan was about to run off when a strong force suddenly pulled her back and she landed on Gu Yechen's lap once again.
