Without much effort, there was a snap, and the heel of the shoe broke in two.

He Xinyan smirked and did the same with the other shoe, but the other shoe was perfectly normal and didn't break. 

He Xinyan had to say that Li Huiran wasn't very. . . diverse in her use of schemes. 

Two times. . . In her past life, Li Huiran had used the exact same strategy. 

And she was stupid enough to fall for it.

He Xinyan remembered Bai Jiawei's 60th birthday party very clearly, because she had gotten a severe scolding after it. 

Just like this time, Li Huiran had given her a pair of shoes in her past life too. A pair of broken shoes.

The shoes wouldn't break when simply walking, because there was direct pressure on the heel with each step, so it would stay in place.

However, when dancing, it was easier for the heel to come loose, and one wrong step would mean the shoe breaking. 

And that was what happened. . .

In her past life, she had worn the pair of broken shoes to the party and they broke while she was dancing with Bai Jiawei.

All of the guests were watching, and she had lost her balance and fell, knocking over several glasses on a tray nearby. 

To Bai Jiawei, it was very embarrassing, and he said that she had turned his 60th birthday party into a joke. 

Although he didn't do anything to He Xinyan at the party, after coming home, he made sure to scold her about how she made him lose face.

He Xinyan scoffed. . . What a pathetic father!

She held up the two shoes; one without a heel. With a smile, she placed them both into the box with the heel and threw it into the trash can.

At exactly 4 o'clock, He Xinyan walked out of the room in the white dress she had picked out and walked down the stairs. 

Li Huiran and Li Yuyan were already dressed, and they sat on the couch, waiting for Bai Jiawei. 

When He Xinyan walked down the stairs, they both turned to look at her. Li Yuyan bit her lips unhappily, the jealousy flowing out from her eyes and expression.

She hadn't eaten at all since last night, and she had spent several hours doing her makeup and hair. So why did He Xinyan still look better? 

It made Li Yuyan clench her fists together from anger to have He Xinyan look better than her. . . The only thought that made her feel better was that even if He Xinyan looked better, she still got Zhiming. 

Men would still pick her over He Xinyan.

Li Huiran's eyes slid down to He Xinyan's feet, and He Xinyan purposely stuck her leg out a little further so Li Huiran could see the silver shoes.

Li Huiran smiled and pulled her gaze away before standing up, "Yanyan, you look beautiful."

"Thank you." He Xinyan walked down and sat across from Li Yuyan, who also took a glimpse at her shoes. 

They sat in silence for another few minutes before Bai Jiawei came down in a black suit with his hair combed and a large smile on his face.

"Dad, you're here!" Li Yuyan stood up and walked over, "You look very handsome today!"

Bai Jiawei chuckled as he straightened his suit, "Your mouth is very sweet today!"

He Xinyan couldn't help but roll her eyes as she also stood up. Bai Jiawei's smile disappeared when he looked at her, but he was satisfied with how she dressed tonight. 

The four of them walked out of the house and when they walked down the front porch, they saw two black cars parked right outside. 

Su Zhiming stood next to the car parked in front and he smiled at them when they walked over. Although he stretched his hand out for Li Yuyan, his eyes were glued onto He Xinyan the entire time. 

However, Xinyan didn't even bother to look at him. Instead, her eyes landed on the man standing in front of the second car and she walked over. 

Bai Jiawei also noticed the second car in the back and he quickly ran over, "Mr. Gu, it's good to see you again!"

He stretched his hand out but Gu Yechen just ignored him and walked over to Xinyan.

"You look beautiful today."

He Xinyan smiled and wrapped her arm around his, "Thank you."

Su Zhiming furrowed his eyebrows at the sight of the two of them, and he unconsciously tightened his grip on Li Yuyan's hand.

Bai Jiawei smiled awkwardly as he walked back over to Gu Yechen, "Mr. Gu, is there a reason you are here?"

Gu Yechen acknowledged Bai Jiawei for the first time as he pulled He Xinyan over to his car, "I will be taking Xinyan to the Dasi Hotel for your birthday party tonight."

Bai Jiawei nodded his head with a smile, "Great! Then we will meet up at the hotel then!"

Without responding, Gu Yechen opened the passenger seat door and placed one hand on the edge of the roof so He Xinyan wouldn't hit her head as she got into the car. 

He then closed the door and walked around to the other side. 

Bai Jiawei, Li Huiran, Li Yuyan, and Su Zhiming could only watch as Gu Yechen started his expensive car and drove off. 

Bai Jiawei's smile faded after Gu Yechen was gone and he walked over to his own car, "Yuyan, you can go with Zhiming to the Dasi Hotel. I will go with Huiran."

Li Yuyan nodded her head and walked over to the passenger seat. She stood still and watched as Su Zhiming opened the door to the driver's seat and got in. 

Her mouth fell open as she stomped one foot onto the ground. Was Su Zhiming stupid? Didn't he see what Gu Yechen just did? Couldn't he at least learn from him? 

She angrily rolled her eyes and got into the car, crossing her arms together to show that she was angry. However, Su Zhiming was too lazy to care about her, and he just started the car before driving away.

On the road, He Xinyan watched as Gu Yechen drove. 

"What are you looking at me for?" Gu Yechen asked as he picked up her hand.

"You look very handsome today."

Gu Yechen's cold expression broke into a smile. Being called handsome by the woman he loved was indeed something to be very happy about. 

They were the first to arrive at the Dasi Hotel, and they walked in without waiting for the other four people still on the road. 

People inside the front lobby of the hotel couldn't help but turn to look at the two people walking over to the elevator. 

The woman looked like an angel in a white dress, and the man next to her was as handsome as a prince. 

A few people even pulled out their phones to take pictures as they whispered amongst themselves. 

Ignoring the stares and the whispers, Gu Yechen and He Xinyan walked into the elevator hand in hand. 

As the elevator door closed, Gu Yechen clicked the number 53. 

He Xinyan glanced at him, "53? The party is in the second floor lobby like last time."

Gu Yechen took a look at his watch, "It's not even 5 yet. The party starts at 6, so we have time to go eat a snack before going down."

". . ." He Xinyan was pretty sure that they had come over early so they could help set up and rehearse the dance. It wasn't so they could eat a snack before attending the party. . .

The door opened and she followed Gu Yechen onto the top floor of the Dasi Hotel. The sun wasn't completely gone yet, and it created a beautiful blend of crimson, orange, and purple in the sky. 

Without acknowledging the worker, Gu Yechen walked over to the only table on the grass, which was already covered with several plates of food.

Once she saw the food, He Xinyan stopped caring about the birthday party as she began eating. A few minutes later, a call disturbed the peaceful mood, and He Xinyan frustratingly answered.

"Hello."

He Xinyan, where are you?!" Bai Jiawei stood in the middle of the room with Li Huiran next to him.

"At the Dasi Hotel."

"I don't see you!" Bai Jiawei furrowed his eyebrows together and looked around.

"I'm on the 53rd floor."

". . . 53rd floor? What are you doing?"

"I got hungry, so Yechen brought me up to eat a small snack. We will be down in a few minutes."

"Wait!" Bai Jiawei looked up at the ceiling and glanced at Li Huiran before walking out of the lobby, "I'll go get you."

Bai Jiawei has also never been up on the 53rd floor either, and he was indeed very curious and eager to get a look at the beautiful sight.

He Xinyan raised one eyebrow amusedly before hanging up the call. She took a final bite of the delicious food before standing up. 

"Bai Jiawei is coming up here to. . . get me." 

Gu Yechen didn't move as he lifted up his chopsticks, "Do you want dessert?"

He Xinyan stared at him and slowly sat back down on her chair, "Oh. . . okay?"

A waiter brought over two plates of cheesecake and she slowly took a bite. 

As they ate, there was a ding as the elevator door opened. They sat quite far away so they couldn't hear anything going on near the entrance.

However, a loud voice was able to reach their ears.

"Why can't I go in? My daughter is inside!"
