Bai Jiawei stood up from the couch and frowned, "He Xinyan!"

He Xinyan stopped in her tracks and she slowly turned around, "Yes dad. What happened?"

Bai Jiawei scoffed, "What happened? Is this how a younger sister should treat her older sister?"

He Xinyan furrowed her eyebrows together, "What do you mean?"

"You clearly knew that Yuyan was auditioning for a role and she worked very hard for it! So why would you steal the role from her?!"

He Xinyan scrunched her face up, unsure of how to react. These three people were actually stupid. . .

"Excuse me," He Xinyan said sarcastically. "I didn't steal her role, because it is only called stealing if it already belongs to someone else. Dad, it's an audition, meaning everyone is fighting for the same thing. It's not Li Yuyan's role, so I didn't steal it from her. I'm just more skilled and got the role."

Li Yuyan's face turned red from anger when she heard He Xinyan say she was more skilled than her. Although she didn't want to, Li Yuyan had to admit that it was true. She wasn't as talented, but the role was still hers!

"Don't talk to your dad like that!" Li Huiran stepped forward. Bai Jiawei's expression also turned a little ugly after He Xinyan spoke.

"But still. Yuyan wanted the role, and you are her sister. So why should you fight for something she wants?"

He Xinyan almost wanted to scream, 'I am your legit and original daughter, okay?!', but she stopped herself.

Instead, she put on a pitiful expression. If Li Yuyan and Li Huiran can play the white lotus card, why couldn't she do the same?

"Dad, how can you be so partial? I am your daughter too and I also want the role. Why don't you ask Li Yuyan why she is fighting with her younger sister? I worked hard for the role too. . . That is not a good trait to have. If you want a role, you will have to work harder and not get mad at the person who got the role because they are better than you."

Li Yuyan's face turned green and then white as she clenched her fists together angrily. She stomped her foot onto the ground and marched off.

This only made Bai Jiawei angry as he turned to look at Li Huiran, "Look at your daughter! How can she be my eldest daughter when she is so narrow-minded and ungenerous?! As a mother, you need to do a better job at training your daughter to be an eligible and qualified daughter of a family like us!"

Li Huiran also clenched her teeth together angrily but she didn't dare argue with Bai Jiawei. She nodded her head before also walking away to go find his daughter.

Bai Jiawei turned to He Xinyan and patted her on the shoulder, "I'm sorry, Yanyan. Daddy didn't know either. Congratulations on getting your role today."

He Xinyan smiled, "It's okay, dad. Thank you."

He Xinyan turned around and walked up into her room, locking the door behind her. It seems like the white lotus act was quite useful. . . No wonder so many people used it.

But it wasn't fit for her. Acting pitiful wasn't her thing, and it made her feel weak and disgusted. The white lotus card was only for stupid and fake people, and she wasn't going to be one of them.

However, He Xinyan had to admit that using it once in a while was quite helpful!

He Xinyan ate dinner alone since Bai Jiawei had some work to do, and Li Yuyan and Li Huiran found an excuse to avoid dinner, probably because they were not in the mood for it.

Inside Li Yuyan's room, she was crying on the bed as Li Huiran coaxed her daughter.

"He Xinyan did steal it! There were only three people auditioning to begin with, but she came out from nowhere! She purposely tried to steal it from me!"

Li Huiran nodded her head, "I know, I know. Don't cry, Yuyan."

Li Yuyan calmed down after a while and she wiped the corners of her eyes with a tissue.

"Yuyan. . . Don't you think that He Xinyan changed?" Li Huiran frowned.

"Changed? How?"

Li Huiran sighed as she looked at her daughter. When she was her daughter's age, she was already cunning and attentive, but why was her daughter still so slow-witted?

"Since she came home from college a few weeks ago, she has been very unpleasant to us. In the past, she would treat us with respect and listen to us. But now. . . She seems to be more clever."

Li Yuyan narrowed her eyes as she seemed to realize the difference too.

"You're right! I should have noticed when she showed up at Su Zhiming's house! She wasn't this sharp or cunning before."

Li Huiran sighed, "Did she figure something out? Yuyan, what did you say to her?"

"Nothing, mom! I'm always very careful, and I treated her very nicely until she changed first."

Li Huiran didn't believe her daughter fully but she slowly nodded her head, "Okay. Be careful from now on."
