Capitalist Monster Hunter Chapter 11

11. Heart Beating Random Box (1)
A black box was placed on Yoo-sung's lap. A large question mark was drawn on the box.
When he saw the question mark on the box, Yoo-sung was feeling feverish for some reason.
“What's wrong? Mr. Yoo-sung?”
“Nothing.”
“Hmm. So, I’ll tell you about the random boxes! Random boxes have five classes in total: Low, Common, Normal, Epic, and Legendary! The contents of the box are all the same regardless of the class of the box!”
“Then, what's the difference?”
“The probability for each class is 0.1% for Low class, 0.5% for Common class, 1% for Normal class, 3% for Epic class, and 5% for Legendary class!”
“Well, it's a very unconscionable probability. The probability is so small, you can barely even see it.”
“Haha… It’s a little bit…low, right?”
“Just a little?”
“I'm sorry. It's very low.”
“Yes, you have to admit it. The Gods are making a system out of this shit.”
As Yoo-sung’s voice rose slightly, Titania, who had been talking with excitement, had her wings drooped again. She looks like a puppy no matter how many times you look at her.
The chat was also noisy. There was some God who repeated the word "true" to another one who said, “How dare he judge the system that the Gods have created!”. Indeed, there were various Gods and Spirits.
Yoo-sung once again turned off the chat because it bothered him.
“Okay, the nuisance is gone. Shall we continue?”
“Did you turn off the chat…?”
“Yes.”
“Wouldn't it be better to turn it on?”
“Why should I? I'll only turn it on when I want to. Should I block their sight so they can't see me? Titania, that's possible, right?”
“That's possible, but… Wouldn't it be better if you don’t do it unless it really needs to be done? The Gods and Spirits live in hope of watching the Hunter Channel. So if you turn it off, I'm afraid they will get furious….” Titania carefully spoke to Yoo-sung.
Well, that makes sense. These jobless Gods and Spirits only had the joy of life watching Hunters all day long.
These Gods and Spirits gave Yoo-sung full support just because they thought it was fun. Getting on their wrong side might bring trouble to Yoo-sung.
“Yes, you're right. If I turn it off, they will be furious. Maybe some might put a curse on me.”
“Ha… Haha…” Titania forced a smile at Yoo-sung's words.
“Then, I'll leave the chat on for a while.”
Yuseong turned on the chat again.
“Okay, let's open the box. Oh, right, Titania.”
“Yes. What is it?”
“Is there such a thing as a bonus if you open 10 boxes at the same time?”

“No, there isn’t.”
“If they're going to copy games, they should’ve copied it properly.”
A load of messages began to pop up in the chat when Yuseong said that.
[Goddess of Mischief: Hey, didn't I say that we must give one bonus if they open 10 boxes?]
[The Great Angel: Do we really need to follow the game rules made by humans?]
[666: You've copied almost everything though lol.]
[Black Star: True.]
[Mushin: Still, there is a difference between 10 and 11.]
There was a heated discussion in the chat. Yoo-sung was wondering if he should turn off the chat.
“Let’s just open it.”
Ba-dum! Ba-dum!
Yoo-sung’s heart is always pounding whenever he's opening a random box. It was because of the expectation that a good item would appear even though he knew that only trash would come out.
‘I think it's going to come out.’
‘Will it pop up?’
Even though he knew it wouldn't come out, he always opened the box thinking like this.
The beating of Yoo-sung’s heart echoed throughout the hospital room. Then, he finally opened the first random box.
Waaaa!
When he opened the box, a bright light came out of the box—-
And an old, broken sword appeared.
“Ah, fuck.”
The sound effect was extremely spectacular, but the content was poor.
The sword is not only old, it is broken as well. If you sell it to a pawnshop, you can get about 100 won. What would it be like in the past?
He checked the item's information with a little anticipation, but all that came back was a disappointment.
“Why… Why did they put such a piece of crap? Shouldn’t they at least put a low-class potion?”
What's the point of putting this junk in a random box?
Even if you sell that scrap, you can't even buy junk at a stationery store.
“Yeah, there's no way you'll get a good item in one shot.”
Yoo-sung calmed down. The probability of rare items coming out of the random box was low at the beginning. Plus, the random box he opened was common class, right after the low-class ones.
You have to at least open a normal or epic class to get some items you can use. It was fortunate to get even a single usable item from the common class.
Yoo-sung opened the next random box.
Waaaaaaaaaaa!
It's a sword's crossguard that is not only old but broken. If you sell it to a pawnshop, you can get about 100 won. What would it be like in the past?
“Ah.”
Yoo-sung’s face distorted after reading the description of the item.
It was this item again. An old, broken sword.
Earlier, it was a sword handle, and this time, it was a crossguard.

“Am I a junkyard? Why is only an item like this coming out? Is it going to give me pieces of broken blade number one, two, or three, or a broken sword case?”
What he said as a joke soon became a reality.
[Old Broken Sword – Blade 1]
[Old Broken Sword – Blade 2]
[Old Broken Sword – Blade 3]
[Old Broken Sword – Case 1]
[Old Broken Sword – Case 2]
[Old Broken Sword – Case 3]
[Old Broken Sword – Pommel]
…..
[You acquired the .]
“Oh my fucking…God…”
Maybe Yoo-sung's mouth was in the wrong, but it was because the only items that came pouring out of random boxes were related to old, broken swords. Even the lowest grade health potion seemed good compared to Yoo-sung’s results.
Yoo-sung couldn’t speak from the shock. He never imagined that such a result would come out. No matter how common it is, isn't this too much?
[Goddess of Mischief: Potion. Lol.]
[Yongsalja: Wow… He must have no luck.]
[King Of Angels: Cheer up.]
[666: If I were you, I would kill myself.]
[Black Star: Are you starting a junkyard? Lol]
[Mother of Earth: Ah… What a pity…..]
The chat was also surprised by the shocking results. It was shocking to the point that even the Gods who watched Yoo-sung opening the box thought ‘this is really bad…’
[The Goddess of Mischief donated ‘Common Random Box’ x 10]
[Goddess of Mischief: Hey! Hunter! I donated some more since I felt so sorry. Let's open 10 more boxes!]
As if she was teasing Yoo-sung, she donated 10 more common random boxes just like the ones Yoo-sung just opened.
[Goddess of Mischief: Let's go!!!!]
[666: Let's go die!]
[Black Star: Let's open the boxes!]
The chat began to be plastered with the words 'Let's go!' and Yuseong regained some consciousness.
“Thank you, Goddess. I'll try again.”
Yoo-sung sincerely thanked the Goddess of Mischief.
“Hoo…”
Yoo-sung took a deep breath. He breathed slowly in and out repeatedly and cooled down his feverish face.
“Please…”
Yoo-sung prayed with his hands tightly clasped together.
He sincerely prayed that he wouldn't see the shattering pieces of sword this time, then he opened the random box again.
Waaaaaa!
Yoo-sung opened 10 random boxes at once.
[You got the .]
“Hey, you little bastards! How can you be human?!” Yoo-sung began to shout out his anger.
This is too much. Ten of the lowest grade potion? It isn’t like the old, broken sword before, but this is not fair.
[666: Yeah, we are not human ^^]
[Black Star: We are Gods ^^ Poomki Pupki.]
[Goddess of Mischief: Wow… Really, this is a little…..]
Titania carefully tapped on Yoo-sung’s shoulder as he yelled out his anger.
“Hey, Mr. Yoo-sung.”
“What?” Yoo-sung's voice was on edge because of the results of the random box.
“Don't dwell too much on the results of the random box….. There are still a lot of points left…..”
“Yes, points! I have points!”
Yoo-sung still had close to 100,000 points left. Those points were enough for purchasing equipment suitable for him and also buying books to improve his skill.
As Yoo-sung was thinking he could just buy stuff that didn’t come out from the random boxes, the Goddess Of Mischief requested a 1:1 chat with Yoo-sung.
[Goddess of Mischief: Hey, let's go buy more random boxes. I’ll help you ^^]
“What?”
[Goddess of Mischief: Let me bless you and help you get good items.]
“Why should I trust you and bear such risks?”
[Goddess of Mischief: If it wasn't for that item I gave you, you would have been killed by that monster. If you think about it, I'm your lifesaver, yet you don't believe what I say? I'm a little disappointed.]
Come to think of it, it would have been dangerous if it weren't for the Stone of Salvation that the Goddess Of Mischief gave him.
‘Do I have to trust her…?’
[Goddess of Mischief: Trust me~ Even if you don't, I don’t lose anything anyway~ This will be a secret between the two of us~]
‘Uhmm…’
Yoo-sung pondered for a while, then made a decision.
I’ll trust her.
Yoo-sung decided to believe in the Goddess Of Mischief. After all, she was truly a lifesaver. She wouldn't do anything that will hurt him. That’s what Yoo-sung thought so.
“Titania! How much are the common random boxes?”
“It's 1,000 points. Why do you ask?”
“I need to buy it.”
“What? Are you serious?”
“Yes, I'm serious.”
“Why? The probability of getting a good item from a random box is very low! I already told you earlier that there's only a 0.5% chance that you'll get a top-rated item.”
“Let's just do it for now.”
“Huh……?”
“Don't ask for the details. Just trust me this time.”
Titania was shaken when she heard what Yoo-sung said. She was the one who made the biggest mistake in the history of support angels. She tried to make up for her mistake by assisting Yoo-sung well.
She had checked Yoo-sung’s points and already selected some equipment to recommend to Yoo-sung. She also chose some good books that will be cost-effective for his skill.
But Yoo-sung was saying that he will use the points for the random boxes. It was something she never expected to happen.
“Mr. Yoo—Yoo-sung, can’t you think about it again? I'm sure you'll only waste your points. I've already chosen some equipment and books for you. Why don't we forget about the random boxes and look at other items, huh?”
“I already said this earlier, just trust me. I'm sure I’ll get a good item, so don't worry.”
Titania once again asked Yoo-sung to reconsider, but Yoo-sung’s decision was firm.

He Ascended from Earth a thousand years ago. A millennial NEET shut-in at heart, he enjoys video games and holo tube while spending time with his female companion, who does all his deific duties for him. Join the crazy adventures of a lazy God and his unwilling follower's rise to power. The first few Arc's of the story is an Academy arc. I think you will know if you like the story by chapter 6 as the first chapter may be confusing (or sucks, idk I like it so whatever)._________ The story is a slow burn. If you are expecting quick progression, I suggest looking at some of the other great stories on RR. I personally enjoy and Patreon several, but that's not what I'm writing. That might hurt my chances of trending anytime soon (or ever lol), but that is fine with me. I'm sure some of you will appreciate the story as much as I do in writing it. FAQ: The story has elements of xianxia and wuxia along with some GameLit (at some point). The story takes place in an age where tech has advanced to a complete integration with magic. Imagine everything running on mana or qi instead of electricity, and you will get the idea. There will be crafting but not until later in the story. It's actually a core plot elemenet for Layla. I'm writing this story for my own enjoyment and as a way of relieving stress in my life. I'm not a pro author or a naturally gifted wordsmith. I don't have beta readers and every chapter posted is a first draft. I'm still learning and will strive to improve as I continue the story. If you don't speak up I can't work on improving as an author. I welcome any criticism and encouragement that would help me become a better writer. I can't believe you read this far down! ;) Enjoy the story. --Cover Credit-- Cover art (emblem) by: Oxana Che Cover Design by: Miblart
