My Battleship Can Receive Infinite Upgrades Chapter 17

At this moment, in order to avoid the celestial body in front of him, the Invincible Newbie's battleship was in a straight line with Lin Dong's battleship. If Lin Dong descended his battleship, he would be able to directly attack the enemy's chassis and rear engine. Furthermore, the distance between them had already shortened to the limit of their reaction speed.
"Charge the main cannon to maximum capacity. Lock onto the enemy's chassis and rear engine. Activate automatic firing!"
"Charging countdown starts at 10... 9... 8... Warning. Charging reaction has been detected by enemy battleship."
The distance was too close, and it was powered by kinetic energy, there was no possibility of shielding it. However, it did not matter, the distance was too close, it was already too late to dodge.
Lin Dong shouted, "Continue charging. Target locked!"
"3... 2... 1... Fire!"
The main cannon of the battleship let out a loud bang as the high-energy projectiles flew toward the Invincible Newbie's battleship. Even though he tried to dodge the projectiles, the distance was too close.
The chassis and rear engine of the battleship were attacked. The battleship's armor shattered in an instant.
The entire battleship was pushed back by the powerful kinetic energy and lost its balance as it began to tumble.
"It is estimated that 80% of the enemy's rear armor is damaged and the engine thrust has decreased by 60%. The main cannon of this battleship will be recharged for another 50 seconds."
The optical computer gave the accurate data according to the information from the detection radar.
"Approach the enemy battleship and attack from the top down. Charged to the longest attack range and lock onto the enemy battleship's engine."
Lin Dong's body leaned back slightly as he once again gave the order.
This match was already nearing its end. The chances of his opponent wanting to turn the tables was 0%.
After losing the balance of the chassis and the power of the engine, Invincible Newbie's battleship would not be able to retaliate for a short period of time. It would not be able to withstand a few cannon shots before it had to retreat from the battlefield.
As for extending the attack range, Lin Dong wanted to ensure that nothing would go wrong and not take any risks.

Even though 'Sea of Stars' was a virtual game, the habit of controlling the battleship would be brought to the outside world and it would develop the habit of killing the enemy at close range. If his enemies still had a backup plan, he would not be able to regret his choice when his opponents counterattack, right?
Reality was not a game. If Lin Dong was careless, he would lose his live.
Not letting go of any details was a necessary quality to become an outstanding commander.
"This time, the opponent is purely a newbie. There's no challenge at all. I hope that I will be matched with a better opponent next round."
Lin Dong chuckled as he watched the main cannon recharging once again.
Not to mention that he had 10 years of experience. Even if he did not have any experience, he could still be considered an expert among all the players in 'Sea of Stars'. It was easy for him to deal with a newbie who had just entered the game not long ago.
The second shot landed on the battleship's armor. Although the hit did not land wholly on the engine, at least it completely destroyed the engine.
A battleship that could not fly was like a lion without claws and teeth.
It could only serve as a target at the moment. Once the main cannon's buffer time passed, it would be over.
However, before Lin Dong gave the order to fire, His opponent could not turn or move his battleship, so the game could be considered over.
A few seconds later, a system notification sounded out.
"ID: Invincible Newbie has issued a surrender request. Countdown: 60... 59... 58..."
Only then did Lin Dong control the battleship to fly forward and stop not far away from the side of the Invincible Newbie's battleship. He did not allow the main cannon to recharge.
Lin Dong's opponents had already given up resisting and was prepared to surrender. There was no need to beat him up anymore.
Lin Dong was still a gentleman.
Suddenly, a notification sound rang our from the battleship's optical computer.
"ID: Newbie Invincible has initiated a communication request."
Initially, he did not want to talk to his opponent. Usually, when the defeated party initiated a communication request, they would just scold Lin Dong to express their anger.

Lin Dong hesitated for a moment before he chose to accept the call. He won the match and was also the first person to receive a call. It did not matter even if he accepted the call.
Just as the call was picked up, a clear female voice sounded out.
"Big Brother, let's form a team and fight on the battlefield together. You can bring me up to the top."
"I will do whatever you ask me to do. I can also perform all sorts of shows that you want to watch."
The so-called show was a video communication between the two parties. With that, Lin Dong could see what his teammates were doing and watch the show from afar.
Of course, in return, Lin Dong had to put in a lot of effort on the battlefield, so she could rest at the back.
"I don't have time. Sorry."
Lin Dong decisively rejected her request before ending the call.
He did not have the time to care about women at the moment. If he really wanted to play with women, he would not find women that he could not touch. On planet A399, there were at least 33% of women. There were quite a number of beautiful ones. What was the point of watching a woman online?
If he felt excited after watching a woman online, he still need waste his energy to find a woman to enjoy.
There was absolutely no need for that.
"Today is another day that I need to restrict myself. I refuse to be seduced."
Lin Dong quietly praised himself.
Although he won the battle, he still had an accurate judgment of his own level and did not lag behind. In comparison, he had improved quite a bit.
One needed a lot of experiences when fighting in the mining area. This was especially so since Lin Dong's battleship had not been upgraded and strengthened. It was a basic LV1 battleship. The woman's battleship was LV5, which gave her an advantage in terms of level and performance.
It was a very dangerous move to move closer to the opponent. If his enemy turned or stopped moving forward, the enemy would perform a counterattack.
With that, the effect of ambush would be greatly reduced.
After summarizing the gains and losses, Lin Dong continued to match with different opponents.
He fought 4 consecutive matches.
Lin Dong won all of them.
At the beginning, he still felt a sense of pleasure from beating up a noob. However, as he fought more opponents, his lost interest in them.
There were no benefits to bullying a newbie. There was no gaming experience at all.
In the end, Lin Dong was no longer a young man. Although he was still young on the surface, 'Sea of Stars' was no longer attractive to him.
"Logout."
As the command was given, the scene in front of Lin Dong's eyes began to change. The battleship gradually retreated and shrunk until it disappeared.
Just as he was about to look at other applications to understand the latest news, a message suddenly appeared.
"Your good friend, ID: Night Elf, has come online."
This was a notification from 'Sea of Stars'.
As he looked at the familiar name, the memories in Lin Dong's mind immediately came to mind.
He had played 'Sea of Stars' for 5 years and had added more than 20 good friends in the game. However, Night Elf was the most amiable among them. This was because both of them were players who did not put in real money and did not upgrade their battleships.
With that, if they wanted to win the battle, they would need to have excellent control skills.
The same situation caused the 2 of them to feel like they had met too late. Naturally, they chatted more and their relationship became a little closer.
However, in his previous life, ever since Lin Dong obtained the Thunder Flash, he did not have the time to play the game. Instead, he was always trying to run away from the Sylvester family.
Naturally, their friendship started to fade away.
Whenever Lin Dong thought about it, he would feel a little regretful.
After seeing the notification, Lin Dong immediately gave the order to enter the 'Sea of Stars' once again.

Wildling
Blurb: Silas--a scavenger living off the ruins of humanity--has spent his entire life fighting tooth and nail to provide for himself and his crew. But when a scavenging run goes awry and he's snatched up by an android patrol, he finds himself thrown into a cage and priced to sell as a pet. And when a suitor comes calling, he fears the worst: that he'll be turned into a Domestic, a human lapdog brainwashed into total obedience. Instead, he discovers an equally disturbing truth: that the creatures who stole his world have created a videogame the likes of which Earth has never seen; a sprawling, game-like theme park where humans are the Avatars and androids are the players who control them. And to make matters worse, his android guide is as hopeless as they come, having gotten all of her previous Avatars killed in record time. So if Silas wants to regain his freedom, he'll not only have to fight his way through a world that was specifically designed to murder him in brutal fashion--he'll also have to convince his android guide that he should be the one calling the shots. FAQS: Q: Who are you, handsome stranger? A: I'm Kyle Kirrin, the author of Shadeslinger, book 1 of The Ripple System, published by Portal Books, and I write crunchy LitRPG. Q: What is Wildling? And is it complete? A: Wildling is a crunchy LitRPG mash up of Fantasy and Science Fiction. And yup, Wildling is already complete at 64 chapters, or about 120,000 thousand words. You're looking at something like a third draft here--it's fairly polished, but it hasn't been picked over by a copy editor yet nor has my developmental editor seen it. Q: Upload schedule? A: 5 initial chapters today (2/15/2021) and one chapter a day for the next month. After that I'll probably slow down to 2 or 3 chapters a week until the story is complete. Q: How crunchy is it? A: It's pretty crunchy. I'd put it on the same tier as Ascend/The Land/RSSG, but it might be a bit crunchier than those three? Q: Is this the first book in a series or a web novel or what? And what are your plans for it? A: It's currently a standalone with series potential. Full disclosure: this story may head the way of my publisher eventually, but will be available on RR for quite a while no matter what. Likely several months after it's complete with plenty of warning before/if it's taken down. Q: What kind of build does the MC create? A: Sword and board! Q: Crafting? A: Plenty! Crafting isn't as center stage as it is in The Way of the Shaman, but it's close. Q: Base building? A: Two fully separate, distinct bases, both of which play a major role in the story. Q: VRMMO? Portal? Reincarnation or what? A: This one's a bit tricky. Basically an advanced race has created a game-like world that closely resembles a theme park. Think Westworld but with copious amounts of loot. And the MC has to fight his way through that to earn his freedom. Q: Permadeath? A: Nope! The MC gets 3 lives to play through the entirety of the game world, and death is extremely punishing, but not fatal. Q: Harem? Or romance? A: No and no. Q: Cursing? Blood? A: Quite a bit of cursing, yeah. There's blood, too, but it's not a gory book by any means. Q: How can I support? A: Instead of a Patreon/donations etc, I'd ask that you consider giving my debut LitRPG Shadeslinger a chance. It's free on Kindle Unlimited and the audio is already out narrated by Travis Baldree. It's an epic fantasy VRMMO where the main character gets 3 days of exclusive access to a new game plus a snarky, talking axe to guide him through it in exchange for agreeing to become the target of a serverwide manhunt once the Head Start period ends. Q: How's it similar to Wildling? And how's it different? A. The crunch level is very similar, but Shadeslinger is a much lighter, epic fantasy take on the genre. It's also VRMMO, but without any real world components aside from the first chapter. The MC is very different--he comes off as a bit of a jerk early on and can take a bit to warm up to, especially before his backstory is revealed--but he's also got a talking axe that constantly puts him in his place. Shadeslinger's a much more humorous story in general, and it's a great deal more polished as well. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy Wildling!
