My Battleship Can Receive Infinite Upgrades Chapter 5

Lin Dong controlled his mining spaceship manually as he entered deeper into the mining area. Along the way, he would occasionally scan some celestial bodies and pretend that he was trying to mine some minerals.
After picking and choosing some ores, Lin Dong's spaceship gradually arrived at an empty area.
After checking his surroundings, he were ready to leave.
At that moment, the space nearby distorted. A small black hole appeared, sucking back Lin Dong's mining spaceship that was about to leave that place. Just as it was about to suck into the black hole, a huge object appeared above the spaceship.
It was a battleship that was more than 500 meters long, 70 meters wide, and 80 meters tall!
After the battleship appeared, the small black hole immediately disappeared.
Its outer armor released an energy shield, covering Lin Dong's spaceship. The bottom armor split from the middle, and 2 mechanical arms stretched out, grabbing his 3rd generation mining spaceship. The battleship's secondary cannons pointed at the mining spaceship's cabin.
The signal jammer operated simultaneously, blocking the Lin Dong's mining spaceship's communication network and detectors.
Lin Dong knew clearly in his heart that Lorne had arrived!
The energy shield and the battleship's cannons were to prevent Lin Dong from escaping. If there were any unusual movements, Lorne would not hesitate to shoot him, while the signal jammer was to prevent others from reaching them. The others could only detect Lin Dong's whereabout, but they could not hear him.
This was a special module that Lorne's Spark battleship carried.
Just like in Lin Dong's previous life, Lorne was heavily injured and on the verge of death from being pursued. Therefore, he fled to this mining area to hide. However, he could not live long, so he decided to let Lin Dong inherit his battleship.
Lin Dong had already anticipated this scene. After a moment of panic, he quickly calmed down.
He switched off the communication network and the detectors. Then, he turned off his engine and entered the escape capsule. However, he did not activate it.
After waiting for a while, Lin Dong raised both of his hands in the escape capsule, indicating that he was harmless.
The reason why he did that was to deal with Lorne's tests later on. First, Lin Dong wanted to give him a calm and composed impression.
After all, Lorne was about to die. This battleship that had accompanied him for his entire life could not be entrusted to a useless person, right?

Moreover, how could a useless person create trouble for Lorne's enemies?
After Lin Dong raised his hands, he felt his mining spaceship was trembling. The 2 mechanical arms pulled the mining spaceship into the interior of the battleship. The tests were about to begin and the personal support system had already scanned the battleship and given him its information.
E-grade Spark battleship
Status: 8-9%
Growth rate: Low
After taking a look at the information, Lin Dong maintained his position. At the same time, he started counting in his heart.
60 seconds later, his mining spaceship would tremble. After that, the cabin door would open automatically. At the same time, a weak voice sounded out, "I'm sorry, I'm very weak now. You can come to the command cabin by yourself. The robot will guide you."
Lin Dong did not say a word as he opened the escape capsule and walked out of the spaceship. A black robot stood in front of him as it pointed forward with 1 hand.
[The battleship is equipped with a robot with perfect intelligence. It was released 20 years ago. It costs 8 million per robot. There should be 3 more robots in this battleship.]
[It has a low combat power. It can only be used against unarmed people. It is suitable to draw fire and is expensive to maintain.]
Lin Dong glanced at the robot as information appeared in his heart.
However, it was not the time to be concerned about it. Lin Dong followed the robots and walked forward obediently.
After walking for some time, he finally arrived at the command cabin. Just as the robot was about to open the door, the door opened from the inside.
When Lin Dong saw the scene in the command cabin, he was stunned for a moment before he gradually remembered the man in his memories.
A middle-aged man wearing a dark blue battle uniform with a weathered face sat on the commander's seat. He faced the direction of the cabin door and looked at Lin Dong.
On his left, a small treatment device was floating in mid-air, maintaining his life force.
The red light that symbolized danger and the green light that symbolized health were lit at the same time. However, there was nothing wrong with the device, making it seem extremely abnormal.
The man did not have any intention of getting up. Instead, he said, "Come closer."

Lin Dong quietly stepped forward. He was only half a meter away from the commander's seat.
The middle-aged man's face split open from the middle, and Lin Dong could see the cracks on his skull. The flesh outside his heart had already disappeared, and he could see Lorne's beating heart. The man's blood was mixed with black substances, faintly forming the shape of a snake as it floated in the air.
The treatment device was mainly used to maintain his heart.
'This is a sign of poisoning. It's truly a miracle that he's still conscious.'
Lin Dong thought in his heart. However, he did not reveal it on his face. Instead, he said with a little dissatisfaction, "Sir, what is your motive for inviting me here?"
"If there is anything that you need me to do for you, I think you can make it short."
The man laughed coldly. He pointed at his heart and said, "This is a military stimulant used by the miracle civilization. Unless I am beheaded within an hour, I'll not lose my mind or die."
"Then perhaps you need to find a hospital for treatment to save your life."
Lin Dong lowered his head and looked at his feet.
"It's useless. The Icecrown Snake Venom of the Sylvester family is not something that can be cured in such a place." The man tilted his head back slightly. "Do you know why I brought you here?"
Lin Dong continued, "I don't know. However, I hope that after you achieve your goal, you will let me go."
"Ha! what a childish thought."
"You have great potential. You have your own judgement of the situation. However, if I let you go now, you will not live for more than 3 days. There's a fellow from the Sylvester family nearby. I killed a direct descendant of the Sylvester family and was included in their kill list."
"If he discovers that you have boarded this battleship, no matter what you say, you will be killed."
Lin Dong asked in a puzzled manner, "The Sylvester family, which owns a territory around here? The family with the strongest desire for revenge?"
"Correct." A ferocious expression was revealed on the man's face.
Lin Dong had been hunted down and killed by the Sylvester family in the Sylvester Kingdom in his previous life. He had specially gone to scout for information.
The mining area that Lin Dong was currently in belonged to the Ardent Fire Empire, while the Sylvester Kingdom, where the Sylvester family was located, belonged to the Northern Federation. The 2 were neighbors, but their political systems were different.
The privileged classes within the Ardent Fire Empire were known by their titles. For example, Planet A399 was Baron Darkmoon's territory. Above the Barons, there were Counts, Dukes...
The privileged classes within the Northern Federation were divided by their families. Similarly, they were also divided into several grades. The Sylvester family was a high grade family.
It was equivalent to the Dukes in the Ardent Fire Empire, which was 2 grades higher than Baron Darkmoon.
The Sylvester family's reputation was well-known.
Other than their formidable strength, their way of doing things left a deep impression on people.
Whenever someone provoked the Sylvester family, they would first send out a member of similar strength to hunt down the one who provoked them. It was both a training and a screening process. After failing to hunt down the instigator, they would then send out more people until their enemies were completely eliminated.
If the instigators were to roam freely for 10 years, the Sylvester family would send out experts to kill them. Regardless of whether the enemy was weak or not, there was no exception.
Lin Dong had fled for 10 years and was killed by 1 of the experts from Sylvester family.
They had been doing this for a long time, yet no one could do anything to them.
"I understand. In that case, what do you want?"
Lin Dong lowered his head. He did not allow his expression to be revealed as he began to guide Lorne to reveal his motive.
He knew what would happen in the future, but he could not take the initiative to reveal it. Although Lorne was currently poisoned, it would only take an instant for him to kill Lin Dong. He would only be completely safe after he inherited the battleship an hour later.

Here's a fact about humans: They are intelligent, versatile creatures with a tendency for murder and vice. Zeta, a swordsman from a villa at the summit of Greenwich Mountain, has heard many stories about the "Sigma World," the colloquial term for any and all things superpowered in the world. He's also heard of the many tragedies, as well as the many wonders humankind has created in its history, even if he has yet to see it in person. Following the philosophy of his teacher, Gin Kagan, Zeta intends to become a "Servant of Humanity," in an endeavor to protect mankind from its gravest threats, from power-hungry sigma-users, but most importantly, from itself. He's going to need a lot of allies to pull that off, even if he doesn't understand that just yet. This story is originally published at www.sigmacentral.wordpress.com. To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
