My Four Other Selves Chapter 9

He growled before turning around and moving a little further away from there. Zhang Yong who was now sitting on the top of the tree on a thick branch, smiled seeing him leaving, those branches and leaves around him were hiding his presence perfectly.
The oni moved away from the tree and looked some where else for him, he pushed some bushes around but still wasn't able to find him. A satisfying smile appeared on Zhang Yong's face but it soon vanished away when he saw one more Oni approaching the first Oni.
"What the?" He was looking at him with horror, "How come there is one more Oni? Wait a minute if there is one more does that mean there are more too?" Just the thought was making him more and more scared.
That Oni was exactly the same as the first one. Zhang Yong's eyes were wide as he started to panic seeing one more Oni there, even the first one was enough to make him so scared and now one more was there.
"Some one please wake me up from this useless dream. I swear I won't watch these types of horror movies again. But please some one wake me up."
He was just mumbling to himself when suddenly one of them looked up. Zhang Yong felt all the air being knocked out of his lungs. He held his breath as he tried to sink deep into the tree.
The Oni kept on looking there for some time when suddenly they started to move. Zhang Yong again got scared but those Onis just went away from there.
"Am I in hell? Why are there so many Onis around?"
He pulled his hair in frustration.
"Why is this dream still not ending?"
He was still sitting there on the tree not wanting to get down and encounter some thing more terrifying.

"I will just sit here until this dream will decide to end itself."
Zhang Yong made himself comfortable there on the branch as he pushed his body back, a big pout and frown was there on his face and his both arms were folded and resting on his chest.
He was just about to close his eyes when all of a sudden he heard a sound.
[ Time left : 2430 hours and 5 minutes ]
"Huh? What time?"
"What is going on now?"
Zhang Yong was again confused.
"Wait a minute! Why is this system still here in my dream?"
He rubbed his temples and started to think about his situation deeply. 'Why does this dream feel so real? I am starting to have second thoughts about it. Is this really a dream?'
He looked up and then to his surroundings.
"Where exactly am I?"
"Wait! I have an idea."
He paused and sat straight there on the tree branch.
"I can just try to open that system. If it appears then that means that I am in no dream and if it does not appear then that means I am really in a dream.
Zhang Yong praised himself for that intelligent idea of his and soon he was ready to practice that idea of his.
He took a deep breath and made himself ready for the next outcome.
"I just hope that it does not appear. I want this to be a dream."
"Don't worry Zhang it. Is. a. dream. A dream….dream."
He moved his other hand to his wrist, he closed his eyes.
"Here goes nothing!"
With that he finally touched his wrist like that rabbit ( Rosa ) told him and....
Zhang Yong touched his wrist like that rabbit ( Rosa ) told him and in no time the system was in front of him.

"Oh NOOOOO!" He yelled and looked at that system in horror,"This can't be true!"
His eyes again went on the surroundings and then again to his system, hoping it won't be there when he will look at it again but to his bad luck it was still there, he said to himself, "Does that mean every thing happening around me is in reality. I have already been transmigrated in this world."
The sudden shock made him tense his muscles, he wanted to run away from there but he knew he would get himself in more danger if he were to act rashly there.
"I am seriously doomed now. Those Oni." He gulped, "I will be dead in no time."
It took him some time to let his mind rest and let every thing register in his mind. But then he again realized the system was still there in front of him. He heaved a big sigh before again looking at it.
He wanted to get every thing in his mind as soon as possible.
"Huh? Why are there so many options?"
For a minute he looked at that blue screen in front of him, trying to think which option he should choose. He was even hesitant to click any of the options.
"I think maybe I should check the weapons first. Maybe I will find some thing useful there to protect myself."
With this thought he clicked the option "Weapons". He pressed it like if he were to apply a little more pressure it would break.

"What? That's it? I don't even know how to use these weapons. This system is so useless. Can't for once in my life I can get a useful thing."
He shook his head here and there, he wanted to cry at that moment.
"What should I do now? Should I get down?" He thought, "What if those things appear again? What will I do then?"
He kept on pondering over that matter for quite some time and then again determination filled him.
"No! I....

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Remorse
I have killed many people over my long life. Men, women, children. None have escaped the shadows that I control. It was only one tiny mistake that I made that changed my life forever. I underestimated her, and I would pay for my hubris. “For every death you have given, you will feel their pain.” What? “For every person you have killed, you will feel regret.” Wait, wait… “For every murder you have commited, you will know what you have done.” I don’t think this is going to be pretty. The power leaves her voice as she continues in a softer tone. “I will give you back what you have lost, you will feel empathy again.” Her power releases me and I fall to the ground. Diana. That was her name. I will remember it. ******** This story starts out somewhat dark, but it will lighten up after the first chapter. I tend to not enjoy the psychological tag too much since stories with the tag tend to be a little insane for my liking, but I feel that I would be remiss not putting it on this story, since a lot of it is about the psychology of the main character. All the content warnings are checked since I want to leave my options open to me for the future. I hope you enjoy.
