My Four Other Selves Chapter 8

"Wahhh."
Just as he heard that he started to shiver badly. He slowly turned his head, trying his best to stop himself from falling down there.
As soon as he turned around he saw a giant scary monster with red and blue skin, big horns on his head and two of his tusks growing out making him look more ugly.
"OH MY GOD! AN ONIIIIIIIII."
Before he could even react the oni started to run towards him. His one step was long enough that Zhang Yong felt his death getting closer and closer.
"Ahhhhh. Run you idiot." He yelled out loud when he realized that he was now just some steps away from him.
"Oni chan please leave me. I am a poor soul."
He was running now like a mad person and that oni was after him. His voice was making him weak, he felt his legs getting numb but he was still running hoping that he would stop but as he was getting fast that oni was getting fast too.
"Bad dream! Bad dream! Wake up Zhang. Wake up now. This dream will end soon, don't worry. "
Zhang Yong was running when all of a sudden his eyes fell on a big tree that was probably bigger than that oni.
He turned around but this time saw the oni really close to him. "Ohh. nooooooo." The oni had a big shaft in his hand which he twirled in the air.
His eyes widened when he saw that shaft coming towards him and then it hit him with so much force that he went flying to the other side. His back hit the tree which he was seeing a minute ago.
That oni started to come close to him but before he could realize where Zhang yong was, he went over and hid behind that tree. Zhang Yong was breathing heavily, his one hand was on his chest, trying to calm himself down while the other hand was clutching the side.

"Huh? Why did it decrease. Wahahah."
"Am I going to die today like this?"
The rustling of leaves, wind whistling around trunks and his low growls were only adding more fear to him. Even the slightest noise was enough for him to feel scared.
Just then he heard feet shuffling from a distance. His heart beat immediately fastened and he realized that oni was still looking for him.
"What should I do now?" He asked himself as he felt those steps getting closer and closer.
He was panting hard like he had just run a big marathon and it felt like he would just fall down on the floor any minute.
At first he just hid behind that big tree which was enough to hide his petite body behind it but now he knew he can't stay there any longer.
He checked through the corner to see if that oni was still there or not.
"Oh no he is still there and looks scary. Wahah."
"Mommy save me."
His heart felt like it would just jump out of his chest any minute and he felt the urge to just run away from there but he knew if he were to run away he would definitely get killed by that oni.
"I should climb on this tree."
Soon he put his right foot up as he started to climb up the tree. He made sure that he climbed up in a straight line so that he wouldn't get seen by oni.
"Oh my god he is looking more scary from here. When will this dream even end?"
He just kept his body there for some time before climbing up again but this time his eyes went to the left side and he saw a black lizard just beside him.

He was really scared of lizards and these types of animals. He saw the lizard coming towards him slowly.
He was just about to scream when suddenly stopped.
He opened his mouth wide but then closed it immediately after realizing his state.
'No! Calm yourself down Zhang.'
He tried to breathe to calm himself down
He was looking at the lizard with wide eyes waiting impatiently for that lizard's next move.
The lizard was taking some slow steps towards him while Zhang Yong was looking at it from the corner of his eyes.
Suddenly he heard the growl of that oni when he wasn't able to find Zhang Yong.
He was looking at everything from the corner of the tree. At once he was looking at her left to see that oni and once he was looking at the lizard behind her.
All of a sudden the lizard fell down from the tree. It looked really ugly when it fell down and Zhang Yong just wanted to turn around and run away from there but he clearly knew that he was helpless at that time and couldn't do anything but stood there, hoping for everything to get okay soon.
Zhang Yong was lucky this time and the lizard finally left from there. He heaved a big sigh of relief as his one fear was now over and now he just had to deal with that oni. He shuddered with just the thought.
He again leaned a little to see if that oni was still there or not.....
Zhang Yong again leaned a little to see if Oni was still there or not and to his bad luck he was still standing there looking around.
"What the? Why can't he just go?" As soon as he said those words to himself, he saw Oni taking a step towards the tree.
"No! No!"
With that he hurriedly started to climb up the tree. Oni took some steps towards the tree, he was now just beside it, his neck went around the tree to see if Zhang Yong was there or not.
He looked here and there but to his bad luck Zhang Yong wasn't there any more.
"Ahhhhh."..... .

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
8 95The Way of Sages
The accounts of the orphan that grew to challenge empires, slay demigods and win the hearts of princesses. Follow Los as he carves his own fate, forms his own magic, and tests his own will. cover by artist: https://www.deviantart.com/raiddo
8 139Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

8 172The Devil's Bride
"I am not sleepy so why don't we tell each other a story?" Her voice was low and raspy and fuck, I'd been lying if I say I wasn't turned the fuck on. "Like what?" I ask swallowing my pride and probably my sense of direction. Her skin was on top of mine, in contact, burning. "I don't know." She says taking her time to adjust herself on my lap. I had to grip the chair for support feeling all my breath vanish from my lungs. "Maybe a short bio about yourself." She advocates placing one of her hands on my chest. I feel the contact through my shirt, my eyes trained on every movement of hers. The worst of it all was that she is unaware of what she was doing to me. "Uh-" I feel my words shorten. On impulse, I grab her by her waist for support instead. Leaning back painfully on the single chair. "You're so cute when you're confused!" She giggles going ahead to move slightly on my lap. I blow out a groan feeling my erection harden.
