Shen was sitting at Yosu's house porch, facing the three choices. He was presented with three class skills when he reached level 10, but he was in a dilemma now.
All skills were tempting to Shen, but he was worried as well. Each skill had its pros and cons. Passive skill was good as he could preserve his Stamina Point. However, did he really need evasion? The chance to evade the enemy was so low as well, with only a 3% chance.
The other two skills consumed his Stamina Points while dealing high damage. Again, he had limited stamina and he did not feel the need to use the skill to kill the trapped Guardian Fish. He was okay even without an attack skill as Stamina was what he needed the most now.
Void Evasion was his choice, but again, the chance was too low and he did not need evasion to face the trapped fish. He was in a dilemma as he did not know which skill he needed the most.
"Can I not choose the skill now?" He muttered by himself. As he did not know what to do, he opened the official forum. Since he had nothing to do while waiting for his Stamina to recover, he made his first thread.

He was asking whether he could choose the class skill later. But when he typed the post halfway, Shen deleted all the words he had typed. On the Level Leaderboard, rank 1 was still level 22.
Yes, a week passed or two weeks in-game time. The highest level was still level 22. So far, only twenty-three players had reached level 20, meaning only twenty-three players that had a class as the player had to be at level 20 to get a class. Of course, he was an exception.
For sure, no one could answer his question because none of the players encountered the same case as him, getting a class skill after reaching a certain level. Shen searched the forum about class skills. Sure enough, he could not find a single thread about the class skill.
However, amongst the three skills, he leaned more to Void Thrust. The reason was because of his focus attribute. His focus attribute was Agility, the skill got stronger with more Agility being invested. Choosing Void Thrust would be the best choice he felt.
"Hah…" Shen laid down on the porch, gazing at the wooden ceiling. He was afraid that it would disappear or randomly choose if he did not make his choice right now.
"A random selection what most likely will happen…" he muttered.
Shen scratched his hair as he opened the interface once again. After some thought, he decided to choose Void Thrust.
[Do you want to learn Void Thrust? Yes. No.]
He was still hesitating for a while before he chose yes.
[You have learned a skill, Void Thrust!]

Shen opened his status interface. Looking at the number of his status, he smiled. It was no longer dominated by 10, and two attributes had surpassed 100.
He could not help but become hopeful for achieving his purpose, becoming the fastest in the game. He was for sure on the right track to achieve that.
"Let's try the skill first," Shen then got up and walked to the pathway between the houses. He needed to know and get used to the skill so he would not be surprised just like before.
He did not want to repeat the same mistake, dying from casting a skill. That was silly even for a noob like him. So he needed to get used to the skill first to save himself from embarrassment.
He took out the Inferior-Grace sword that left with 2% durability. Then he performed the skill.
[Void Thrust]
He made a motion of stabbing with the sword as his body rushed forward. He did not know how quick he was, but his surroundings were blurred when he performed the skill.
At the end of the skill, he almost lost his balance. Thanks to Void Step's skill, he managed to keep his balance and not fall. Shen kept trying the skill, in his fifth tries, he adapted to the skill as he performed the skill flawlessly. However, he did not stop at the fifth try. He continued until he depleted his Stamina, leaving 6 Stamina points.
Shen finished familiarizing himself with the skill. He then went back to the house, throwing his body on the bed. Resting on the bed gave him a quick recovery.
He checked the time, it was six-thirty in the evening, "I think I am done for now. I promised Ming to treat him to dinner at Uncle Hou's stall."
[Do you want to log out? Yes. No.]
Shen logged out of the game. He opened the gaming pod and came out. Stretching his hands upwards as he walked to the bathroom. In his third step, his phone rang.
"That must be Ming," Shen walked over to the bed and reached for his phone. Sure enough, Ming's name appeared on the screen, "Tsk, he is surely quick for free food."

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!
